  1. Have you Poole boys thought about getting Lawrence of Arabia in as a heat leader? Could be a decent point scorer, particularly at home.
  2. A promising start for the new track, which livened up considerably around mid-meeting. Has to go down as a missed opportunity for the away team given the amount of points dropped by the home team and the bending of the rules by including an 8th man in their line up. Is this a new rule introduced in the PSC? Disappointed with Covatti. He clearly dived to get Doyle thrown out in heat 14 after making the mistake of trying to go round him on bend 1, however, Robinson obviously had a dabble on the Pirates in the match betting. Absolute shocker Robbo. 2, 6 and 7 for the Robins were disappointing, although, Dave Leopard showed some signs that he might be ok at home with a few more meetings under his belt. Reserves have started slowly, particularly Zak, and both need to find gating gloves and some speed. Kurtz excellent as always and the Poole reserves had a field day.
  3. https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/employment-income-manual/eim64121 Maybe not...
  4. Hopefully, our promotion are a bit more diligent and won’t allow nappies, contaminated rubble and timber underneath the new construction of our track. Perhaps you can give us the name of the Aces track consultant for the NSS so we can cross him off the list and make sure we get someone who knows what they’re doing. Edited for spelling purposes.
  5. It’s funny, those toilets always remind me of Manchester for some reason...???? Well, if we don’t run next season it will give you a bigger chance to win that league title again...hopefully???
  6. Is petrol free in the West Midlands, Steve?
  7. I accept that Monmore’s track is better prepared than Swindon, that’s a given, however, I don’t see Morris, or any rider for that matter, riding somewhere else just because the track is better. There must be a financial inducement. I doubt anybody on this forum would change their job, travel 90 miles up the road for the same money?
  8. I spoke with someone in the know the night before Doyle was announced. The words they used re Nick were ‘his head’s been turned’. Whether that meant money I don’t know. His average is very attractive and I am sure if Nick really wanted to, he would have stayed but I am guessing he’s just been offered a much better deal to ride at Monmore. Shades of Miedzinski in terms of a rider on a great looking average riding somewhere else. Let’s hope he doesn’t put too much on it.
  9. You do realise what it means to be self-employed? The word ‘asset’ is a term used in speedway. It has no relevance in the real world. I wanted Morris back but he was a free agent and he has exercised that option.
  10. https://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/17218761.dorset-to-get-6-million-to-improve-its-roads-including-patching-up-potholes/ Excellent news for Wimborne Road. As you can see from the WR close up, approximately 5.9 million of it will be spent filling in that crater on bend 1. An opportunity to make it the bestest race venue in the EL, well after Belle Vue, Peterborough and Kings Lynn...
  11. Nick Morris is owed £28k by Rzeszow. I am not sure how many people on this forum could afford not to be paid £28k and continue to do the job they are doing. Suggests to me certain speedway riders aren’t doing so badly out of this game...
  12. Clearly can’t see the start line either given the amount of rollers missed last season. It was just like the start of the Daytona 500...
  13. Where have you got that information from? • The BSPA League Structures for 2019 will be; (NB to support the progression of riders who have progressed through the National Development League, all riders will receive a 2.5% reduction in their average)
  14. https://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/17225920.nick-morris-turns-down-rzeszow-contract-after-reportedly-being-owed-28000-by-polish-giants/ And riders continue to believe that Poland is the Holy Grail...
  15. I have found a link to a Parliamentary paper, which shows in 2014 £26 million pounds was paid to ALL tracks, unfortunately, due to being on my phone, my own incompetence or possibly both, I cannot provide it to you. That sounds much more plausible. By definition the top tracks e.g. Sheffield, Hove, Belle Vue and Nottingham’s would take a bigger percentage compared to Swindon. However, it’s rumoured £10k per BAGS @ Swindon, which x 3 meetings per week isn’t too shabby. Both tracks are being shortened, which means that some sacrifices have to be made. Swindon currently has a BAGS contract. As the speedway track has to be put in place for the start of the season I guess the dogs have to take the hit over the winter months to allow the adjustments. The Commercial Manager for the Robins has confirmed on the Swindon Facebook page circa 2 weeks ago that the speedway track has already been pegged out.
  16. Millions - greyhound racing, really? I have owned greyhounds and watched a lot of greyhound racing across the UK. Towcester, the home of the Derby has fallen by the wayside this year. That’s a grade 1 facility and track. Millions is not a phrase used within the greyhound fraternity.
  17. So must promoters. It’s a two way street. Happy to sack a rider and when it suits through bad luck or poor performance, which is why I have no issue with riders doing what they want when they want. If that means putting Poland before the UK that’s fair enough.
  18. Of course, he is self employed. I always have a chuckle when people get their knickers in a twist when a rider chooses a Polish League fixture over the Elite League. Rider is their own boss and can choose whatever pleases them.
  19. It’s an unfortunate choice of word for Rosco to have used but as the current system stands that’s probably how it’s seen. I do agree, however, that JD is self employed and that technically he has no master and serves which ever teams he pleases. The asset system should be one of the items on the agenda for discussion to bring the ‘ownership’ of riders in to 21st century. The current rules are a nonsense. All riders should be tied to the governing authority of UK speedway only. Negotiations should be done on an annual or bi-annual basis depending on length of contract offered and the rider returned to the pool at the end of it. The governing authority would be responsible for ‘transparency’ in such matters and clearly defining the contract position. In addition, they should look at all riders currently riding in the world as at today’s date and assigning them a UK average. Either based on an average obtained in the UK previously or if they are new to the UK, an assessed one. These averages should also be published before the start of the season, so everyone is fully aware and also defining their contract position within the UK irrespective of whether they are riding here or not. Averages written on the back of a packet of Swan Vestas and made known to 3 or 4 people is not acceptable! Who would have thought that this would be so bloody difficult...
  20. Classic Starman... Only sees what he wants too.. Can someone enlighten the... Know it all...
  21. I would think that with all the stunts pulled by Poole over the years surely a tie up with Evel Knievel would be more appropriate? The Evel Pirates? Looking at the hole on bend 1, Pollyfilla could be a shout but I'm not sure they do a tube in that size....
