  1. They were probably Wolves fans when they realised Swindon had Doyle and Alpen off 1 and 3. The inevitability of it probably hit home.
  2. *beep* *beep* *beep* ‘Extra’ ,Extra’ read all about it. Poole fan in underdog shocker. However, you have nothing to fear, foreverblue thinks ‘not too much should be read in to the Ipswich result as they are in free fall’. So, on the basis your mate is right, a fairly easy 3 points for you boys tomorrow.
  3. As Swindon will finish top, will they be in PO SF 1 or 2?
  4. Lets be fair, it's not going take HMRC, with an abacus, too long to count the crowd at any speedway meeting in the UK, is it?
  5. I’ve seen him on a couple of occasions this season and recently, not sure which match, so not sure that statement is correct.
  6. Was it the same turnstile operator that used to work at the County Ground in the 70’s and 80’s? It was definitely very busy on the back street, however, I can’t remember the opening match v Poole to contradict the turnstile operator’s assertion. The match itself was pretty straightforward for the Robins and apart from Bewley’s magical pass on Doyle and Polar looking interested for 3 heats it was pretty poor from the Aces. Fricke was disappointing and Worrall has regressed, probably due to the number of injuries he has sustained, which is a shame given how well he rode here when reserve and continued on an upward curve thereafter. If Perks continues in his combative nature at reserve with Vissing picking up vital third places Swindon should get in to the PO and then it gets interesting.
  7. To make the same basic mistake, twice in the same meeting, says to me that Cook isn’t the brightest bulb in the box.
  8. I'm not quite sure of your logic foreverblue. He left Swindon because of the track, he's not going to jump out of the frying pan and straight in to a uncontrollable bush fire.
  9. A little surprised at that move if I am honest. Perhaps DB is not available. I like Alpen, and it’s good to see him back and no doubt he will add the firepower away from home we have been missing but no freebies can be given tomorrow and he needs to be on the gas from the start. I’ll settle for a solid 8 from the likeable Jam Roll. Hopefully Nick hasn’t remembered the quickest way round The Abbey but continues with his gentle month on month average reduction in readiness for the 2020 season, back on home shale.
  10. If Alpen was fit, RR would be the way to go, however, I’d go with DB if he’s available.
  11. No hole, but the tractor markings indicate the driver seen it ok! Was it you Bob C? The good news whoever wore the white trainers would appear to be in the clear. Can anyone name this individual? This is a bit like Agatha Christie’s 10 Little Indians. Who is it going to be, it’s so exciting isn’t it! Perhaps Mickthemuppett can open a book for us? We all know speedway riders are unprofessional and have no thoughts about either their own safety or their contemporaries by bringing the sport in to disrepute by making a hole that wouldn’t look out of place on the M4 and then trying to blame Poole, who are entirely blameless in all of this.
  12. There's not a lot in that top 5 to worry Swindon. Harris (Jekyll and Hyde these days), Laws000n will struggle and King always flatters. 3, 2,1, 0 = 6. KP an unknown and Heeps is a reserve that got his botty spanked by young Smith last season. Batchelor, Doyle and Kid Jensen should have the Ippo top 5 in their 'sky', although, Allen and Black and Decker should have it their own way in the battle of the stiffs. 52-38
  13. Or that he rode like a wobbler. I don’t like to be scathing of Robins riders but the facts are there for themselves.5 rides, no wins and one second place. Not the score you would expect of a former World Champion riding in a watered down league. Didn’t deserve to be in 15, GP week or not.
  14. Are Tai and AJ still unavailable. Just want clarification from a betting perspective.
  15. What sort of company man are you Starry? Sells The Star but doesn’t read it....
  16. Or, it could be the number of holes he has to drill. *fnar fnar* *ooo suit you sir*
  17. Not a bad meeting for your ‘cock’ and a fair smattering of away fans making the sizeable journey. Morley was the best rider on show, as he should have been, and a last heat decided to keep everyone interested. In the Youth Championship McGurk and Hagon for me were the riders that grabbed my attention. Immaculate styles for young lads and a shame the final was curtailed just as a decent battle looked to be happening. Difficult to gauge the crowd but somewhere around 350 I would say.
  18. The track issue, as highlighted by my learned forum colleagues, has been one of contention for several years. Swindon clearly lost a rider over the track in the winter (Morris) and there have been issues about its suitability given the current engines used by riders, which led to many races being strung out on the previous track. The promotion have taken the criticism on the chin and changed the shape of he track. As a traditionalist, I was apprehensive about the changes but the racing is so much better with more passing and interest throughout the races with riders able to have a go, which as fans, is what we want. I would also say that the track is clearly not a billiard table but the Swindon fans have also acknowledged that the Poole and Peterborough meetings were poor fayre and were very vocal in their criticism, as was Rosco. However, in the track's defence when a rider can go from last to first off a 15m handicap and 2 track records, with Fricke's effort nearly half a second quicker than Batchelor's it says to me the track is in decent shape. Belle Vue fans can be rightly proud of their facility, however, it is a brand new facility. Blunsdon is old an decrepit stadium and the track must be in similar disrepair. The changes made have certainly benefited Swindon speedway and has made the sport much more enjoyable than in previous seasons, oh and the Dane leaving JD in his wake. The criticism's made by certain Aces would be have more merit if they were confirmed by a rider(s), rather than supporters, and certainly Swindon's riders have not been backward in coming forward, even Razza stated on his debut the track 'wasn't great'. I'm not saying that the Belle Vue fans are wrong but I take my lead from the professionals and unless there is a universal consensus from the Belle Vue riders the track was poor then I have to assume it was good given the two track records and 15m handicap win.
  19. Some excellent racing tonight and a good team performance, particularly as our number 1 looked a little under horse power. Top marks to Troy (thanks also for the -1 v Polar), particularly in heat 15 as he cut back on the inside to go from third to first. Trapping is sublime and looking fast in front. Kid is looking a sensational signing on a similar average to Alpen a couple of seasons ago. A superb last to first ride in heat 8 getting up on the line, it was like watching Jamie Spencer at his best (that’s a joke by the way cos I think he’s a liability - Spencer not Razza). Must be the first name on the 2020 team sheet. Adam quietly went about his business and I thought Perks deserved more than his 3 point tally. His effort could not be faulted. For the Aces, I thought Lee Adams had returned, so similar was Fricke’s style. Quick and has a liking for the Blunsdon circuit, unfortunately, he had no support and tbh, I thought the Aces looked a bit Dennis Bergkamp (poor travellers) to me. A crucial time for Rosco. Stick, or twist. I think twist. I love Alpen, the rider not the muesli, but if he is out for any length of time then changes must be made, particularly if we can get Razza at reserve.
  20. I just popped over to the 'unofficial' thread and its full of talk on trainers and hoodies. If nappies and romper suits appear be sure to give us an opinion ZR...
  21. Those that are here were treated to a superb ride from Kid in heat 3. Last to first blasting round the outside. Looks an absolute steal on his current average.
