  1. and what about your beloved Swindon? There's some absolute garbage written by the bet365 crowd. Considering the track suffered a huge deluge prior to the start did anyone seriously expect anything other than gate and go for the first 5 or 6 heats? Anyway, apart from Cook, and a couple of good gates by Howarth and Bridger who both then rode the wrong line, there was absolutely no need for the Robins to extend themselves. Cook started well and on the pace all night. Can only think that as he was 'guesting' he didn't get heat 15 because his efforts certainly deserved it. Luckily Lewis has not lost his ability to perform his wheelies mid race and Danny King, as hard as he tries, is just useless at Swindon. Couple of issues for the Robins as PK and Gusto struggled and Greaves struggled badly from the tapes but he showed what he can do by beating Howarth, which after the evening he endured shows he has plenty about him. However, to have these concerns and win by 22 is a good position to be in.
  2. 3 home wins - yes should be. 2 away wins - possible. Team riding well. Hopefully PK shows last night was a blip. Looking forward to Morris and North showing that they are peaking at just the right time. I think 53-41 tonight.
  3. Robins have put one foot in the play offs with tonight's point. Another 3 tomorrow and Lakeside are dead and buried. Assuming KL win the league and get 1st choice I am assuming they would choose Coventry. However, if Poole won the league would they pick KL?
  4. So he didn't have engine problems but rather than speed up and get paid for a win he carries on coasting round so he can get excluded! Good thinking Batman
  5. An excellent point given our number 1 rode well below par, however, that said, I am surprised given how well North has ridden tonight and for the last month Morris was given the nod in heat 15.
  6. This is a big meeting for the Robins. IF we can get a point that will put even more pressure on Eastbourne and put us in pole position for the final spot. Swindon should have got more than 1 point from the earlier meeting and it was disappointing after they had been leading until v.late in the meeting. I think it is a good time to be meeting KL, no disrespect intended. PUK is clearly feeling the effects of a long season and looked poor at The Abbey, whilst Schlein is blowing hot and cold and Rose will also be a big loss. On the Robins front PK and Batch go well here and both riders should give a good account of themselves. North is really motoring. I thought he was lucky to replace Klindt earlier in the season but he has changed my mind and looks quick either FTG or behind and now is a v.important rider in the run up to the play offs. I think it will be a tight match but KL are a good side and are top of the league for a reason. 48-42 to the Stars.
  7. Any referee, regardless of what sport he is in, is supposed to be impartial and uphold the rules of that sport consistently and fairly. If Robinson had applied the rules regarding 2 minutes correctly in every meeting he has officiated in then there would be no issue. The fact is, he has issues with Rosco, which are well documented and therefore, given the fact that it is highly unlikely that he has applied the same rules rigidly in other meetings he has officiated at, one can only conclude that there is bias.
  8. Robins full value for the victory. Some good racing and some excellent passes in the early heats from Batch and Morris. North is absolute mustard at the moment and is rapidly becoming a favourite of mine. He is proving an excellent signing and showed he is a thinking man's rider too by trying to take out a play off rival. Try harder next time son. PUK struggled, again, as did Schlein and KL were never going to challenge without those 2 firing. I hope Lynn pick up the pace over the next few weeks. They have been so dominant that it would be a shame to see them limp in to the play offs, and besides, they need to do us a favour tomorrow.
  9. I wonder if the 'lack of team spirit' and 'negativity' that some people talk about on another thread will be evident? Toughest home fixture that remains and nothing less than 3 points will do. I can't believe PUK will ride as poorly this time round and he could be the difference between the 2 and 3 points. I am guessing there will be no shenanigans from the ref, whoever that maybe, as; its a long way down from that referee's box and Orion and the 'great unwashed' stand underneath said box so they can expect a 'proper welcome to Swindon' if that is the case. I am going for a 49-41 victory to those 'miserable, negative Jack and Danny' Robins.
  10. He could have done that by riding behind Morris! Anyway, when the dust settles we will all have a good laugh about this tomorrow.
  11. Truly p*** poor from Batchelor. Had a great chance to get back in the meeting despite everything that has happened. Only had to stay on the same line. Clueless. Any lingering thought a point could be squeezed out of this meeting has gone.
  12. I don't know why people are surprised by this ref! Robinson ran heats 6-9 in the pouring rain in the reverse fixture and as soon as heat 10 finished declared the meeting over.
  13. You might as well put in Martin Luther King for all the good it will do Lakeside.
  14. Rather than berating Starman and giving him a right pasting, could it be that he is on holiday? country in the south of Europe borders the Mediterranean Sea and in the shape of a boot? A favourite destination for 'blue tints' when the shale starts to fly.
  15. What a big fan such as yourself?...what a lovely night to have given those purple chino's another airing.
  16. Never seen a rider fall and look up to see who's in front, never seen anyone rolling at the start, never been to a meeting where I have seen several engine failures or a future GP champion pulling wheelies at the back of the field whilst a certain rider with a 'bad shoulder' is stood in the pits, never heard of any club 'pouring' water on to their track in the middle of the afternoon on a baking hot day whilst their number 1 is invariably delayed in some foreign land and I have never known any club text a rider to say they ride for their club even though they ride for someone else. I am not sure what the wider BSF community would say, however, in answer to that little conundrum you have posed I would say no.
  17. You should be ok in Coventry if you want to go down this route. Northampton is a bit far to watch football That sentence is sooooo tempting... First things first, we need to get rid of the old farts that run this sport. Try to get young people involved and let them bring enthusiasm and a different perspective. Easier said than done but whilst these clueless idiots continue to run and damage our sport there is absolutely no hope whatsoever. Everyone on this forum more or less knows what is required to take the sport forward but the BSPA won't listen. There is no engagement of fans or meaningful discussion. Self interest perpetrates the sport and all clubs are guilty. One night, every 2 weeks and a squad system is a must. That should be the starting point.
  18. There is no harsh reality! We are poor. That's it. You could have put 2 monkeys in a GB racesuit and they would have scored just as many but that's not King or Stead's fault. They tried and that's all you can ask. What people should be looking at is how Peter Kildemand has managed to go from the PL @ Workington to riding in the Extraliga and scoring good points in 3 1/2 years? There are plenty of our British riders who PK has just gone right on by in that time, many of them in the GB squad, so I think that should tell you all about Rosco's options and the ability and ambition of British riders.
  19. You have to be in it...to win it. You cannot win it finishing 7th Of course it was embarassing, however, what is more embarrassing is reading that people think we should have done better by putting riders in that aren't ready for that level of competition simply because our own pool of riders is so poor.
  20. Starman, you're a betting man. When you looked at the 4 teams did you not think, Group class, Group class, Group class and selling plater? That was the gulf in quality. It's about class. We had 1 rider that would have got in all the other sides. Every other rider would have got in ours!
  21. To be fair Sidney. Woffy was riding in the Extraliga with Czestochowa at 18. How many of our Brits will be doing that now?...or in 5 years time?
  22. The good news for British riders and supporters if you look at those teams in say 4 years time: Poland: Zmarzlik, Przedepelski, Janowski, Pawlicki, Pawlicki Denmark: MBJ, MJJ, Michelsen, Kildemand Australia: Ward, Holder, Batchelor, Morris, Fricke Britain: Woffy, Worrall, Lambert, Kerr, Garrity where do people think we will finish now? People forget that there has been so much damage to the sport in terms of bringing talent through we will not see any improvement in our riders for 5-10 years and that's assuming the BSPA can be arsed!
