  1. Purchase of sour grapes for Starman, Shovlar and the rest of Dorset - £10 Cost of fireworks for the final - £250 Fix the showers in the away dressing room - £500 Watching Matt, Starman and Shovy's faces as they realise Poole's attempt to cheat their way to the title has failed miserably - PRICELESS. Well done Wolves. May the best team win.
  2. Edited to reflect an actual scenario, which surprise surprise meant that ***** (I can't name the club for fear of reprisals from this clubs fans) benefitted massively.
  3. This has affected me terribly. 1.30 in the morning and I can't get no sleep (cue a well known song) I keep replaying the incident in my head and it sickens me, Byawne laughing and smiling all the way back to the pits (sorry that should say bank). Hiding the seriousness, the pain and the anguish of 'long term' injury and missing out on a bumper day. Legend is a word over used in sport but I feel worthy of such a noble bloke like Byawne. So much so, I am going to hashtag the word to give it proper meaning #legend However, on a much lighter note, and the BSF will rejoice and say 'hallelujah' and 'praise the lord' at the top of their voices, the good news BSF is that we can finally work out who that 'magician in the mask' is....
  4. Surely the injury is 'short term' and not 'long term'. As many others have rightly pointed out, the facility has been clearly been abused. Fraud is a bit like one of those crime lords who never gets put away because others refuse to stand up and testify. This should be the opportunity the BSPA have waited for to show they have some balls, an 'open goal' of Ronnie Rosenthal proportions, and a chance to right the wrong that everyone, bar all on the South Coast, knew and felt. But you know what, these 'idiots' at the BSPA will do absolutely Jack and fudge the issue. We will meander along and wait for the next fiddle or manipulation to take place and say the same things on this forum ad nauseum... The unfortunate thing with the analogy is we all know he missed, and so will the BSPA...
  5. Ah, the font of all knowledge is wrong. Isn't it usual type to acknowledge your mistake or does it get swept under the carpet, like most things down on the South Coast? 😮😛🤔😎😋
  6. Phil Rising owes it to us speedway fans to get an answer. Ford asking is one thing, getting it is another. Let's have an expose Phil. Let's find out how this decision was made. Who made it? Why did they make it? It's about time there was something for the Star reader to get stuck in to rather than the usual stories. Let's establish the thought process of these people because clearly they are incapable of making rational decisions. The decision has irked everyone except for the 'Blue Tints' because they cannot see the damage as yet another sh*t sandwich has been rammed down our throats. I don't care who wins the PO. My team are out. Not sour grapes, just an ordinary fan wanting the management (and that term is about as loose as it can be) to stop making stupid, irrational decisions and expecting people just to carry on as if f*** all has happened. If the MC comes out at the start of the season and says Lindback, Dudek and Vaculik are all 7 everyone knows where they stand and can make an informed decision. We might not like it but if they provide reason behind their decision it can be rationalised. So Phil, any chance you asking the question or what?
  7. I agree with AO. Ayres should have been given the opportunity to showcase his talent against some established riders. I agree his age is an issue. On the other hand, BWD impressed me. Young and rode the track well. Ideal for an up and coming rider to learn his craft from the 2016 World Champion...
  8. Killer for me too. No to Harris. I am no fan of Batch but if you are talking about a rider, or any rider for that matter, that has room to increase an average, he is most certainly a rider that fits in to that category. He could easily add a point or more and it's these riders that win titles. As you say tho', bridges have been burnt. Pieszczek or, possibly Przedepelski would be interesting, but it would depend on initial averages.
  9. Batch on that average is a must for any team. Yes, he rides like a Jack and Danny at the mo, however, there are reasons why and he doesn't have to even try to hit the average. One gate and go and he has 3 points. A man of GP quality, irrespective of his current woes, should be able to hit at least 5 a meeting, His gating should be far too good for most 2nd strings. It's his ability to hit the corners at pace that is his problem. Solve that, and he is a 7.5 rider. If he can't, then sad to say it, he is finished.
  10. To be honest, it was an awful meeting and for it to include the Bob Kilby trophy and be ran in the way that it was was a travesty to the man himself. The club should decide what it wants to do with the trophy and either start or finish the season with it.
  11. Firstly, congratulations Lakeside and I am glad this was decided in the proper way. Secondly, apologies to the Lakeside track staff, clearly they have done a great job in getting the track prepared. I saw pictures of the track circa 17.00 and it looked awful but I take it all back. Great effort. Thirdly, on to the Robins. What a p*** poor effort that was and tbh, Doyle apart, they can find themselves a new club. Morris has been the biggest disappointment and I have defended him previously but I think, after tonight, a new club beckons. He intimidated last night was 'meaningless', which it was, but there comes a time where you stand up and be counted, and for me, that was tonight. He hasn't done it consistently and appears to have stagnated after a promising start. The line gets drawn in the sand. Finally, a message for the Robins promotion, please please please get rid of that p*** poor excuse for entertainment. The music you played last night has no right to be played at an evening of tiddlywinks, let alone a speedway meet. Seriously, Kylie Minogue, The Time Warp and The Macarena to name but three. An absolute pile of crap, which unsurprisingly, just about sums up the season. Sort it out.
  12. Really? It looks a bit like that Kings Lynn track from about a month ago... If this match wasn't so important you would have called it off by now.
  13. Although, this is an important fixture, and as a Swindon fan, I would rather the meeting was raced to a conclusion and it was determined on merit not the weather I can't help feeling that the speedway promoters in this country need a bloody good shooing. It should be a piece of p*** to run 14 fixtures between the beginning of April to the middle of September. Yet, none of them are capable of organising a trip to the brewery. Poole fans moaned about the lack of speedway action in the summer months and it has been the same at Swindon. Now we are talking about an important fixture, possibly, not being run before the cut off date, which would lead to a highly unsatisfactory finish to the season. It has big ramifications for both sides as there is a decent gate to be had for them in he semi irrespective of who they meet, and of course, as unlikely as it is for these two, a shot at the title. Part of me would empathise with The Hammers if that was the case but the reverse of that is they have had 7 fixtures to fit in since the beginning of June, so there should be absolutely no excuses, whatever the rider availability. Whatever happens, these idiots will make the same mistake next year and the year after so is there actually any point getting wound up?
  14. What with Snotty leading the Hammers? I doubt Dido is playing just yet...😉 Make sure you take your wellies with you...those puddles will be big 😋
  15. No 'Raindrops keep falling on my head' or 'Sun and The Rain' Steve0?
  16. Can anyone provide a link to, or a list of, the heat line ups? Just found a link should anyone need it... https://www.facebook.com/metalspeedwayleague/photos/a.116973731662517.17241.113869148639642/1492187254141151/?type=3&theater
  17. So, on a vaguely comparable average - would we prefer Sedgmen or Batch for 2017, if the choice arose? I know he is not everyone's cup of tea (mine included) and he had an absolute shocker in his last year as a Robin, however, if I had a choice I know who it would be! Clearly the injury has affected him as he throttles off badly going in to corners and the impact of the injury to DW cannot be underestimated, but I think there is hope. He can still gate when he has to and on a five average only has to gate once in 4 rides plus a couple of points to be picked up. For example, Davey Watt returned Lazarus like every couple of years, so anything is possible...
  18. Heat 6 was certainly an excellent advert for NL speedway and if the management think NL speedway was worth it after last night, Ayres might be the first person they contact. Not sure it was a great meeting but I think there was a big gulf between the two teams, which contributed to some spaced out races but no different to some EL matches this season. Bacon impressed and looks to have a future. Hopwood and Ayres excellent for the Sprockets. I hope they run a team and look to develop their own rides. I will be a regular attendee if they run.
  19. Steve comes on and lets everyone know that Poole were the big underdogs V Wolves on Monday and that they will do well to make a match of it.... however, KL fans say exactly the same thing and.... it's poor old Poole again! The bookies favourites are clearly disadvantaged and this will now be a close match. Tungate and Kennett have never ridden the track before and should help even the sides up and PUK is a very minor loss for the Stars. Admittedly Harris rides Poole well, particularly when he has been run over first, however, I cant believe KL fans would swap the two over. The fact that KL have Branford and Wilkinson at reserve should help keep it close against the former GP star and Number 1 draft rider from last season.. This must be the equivalent of shooting fish in a barrel...
  20. Was it a similar pained expression to the one Joe Screen had in the Blunsdon pits all those years ago..🤔
  21. If Helmsley is no longer involved at Leicester, we could ask him...
  22. A gorgeous day in the Black Country. Took in some 'football' at Bilston in the afternoon - truly awful, and they charged me £5 for the privilege. Lovely metal cage in resplendent orange and the pitch looked like it had been prepared by the Poole track man as there was a nice hole in it. The Bilston manager was excellent. I don't think he used one word from the OED in the whole 90 mins. On to the speedway and good to see a decent crowd, KL were truly abysmal. PUK looked the usual million dollars in heat one and showed great track craft to cut back in heat 15, but apart from that there was not a lot else to appease the neutral. Troy looks completely out of love with the game and I am not sure where he goes next. Swindon were better and there were some reasonable Robins moments, particularly Doyle, who was imperious, Tungate who is rapidly moving in to my good books with Sedgy moving smartly the other way. However, Wolves were strong all the way through and never looked like losing despite Swindon keeping it tight to heat 10. Highlight for me was Freddie's comedy effort in heat one as he had 2 attempts to bin in it overtaking the Sedgy before coming to grief at the third attempt. Harris excellent and Clegg really impressed. Wolves fully deserved their wins and have a team more than capable of challenging the top two. Poole in particular will be extremely vulnerable with their current line up. Final word on the ref, absolute garbage. Let everything go at the tapes and decides to start issuing warnings in heat 29 of 30 - idiot. Haven't seen any footage re Tungate in 15 but looked extremely harsh.
