KK is one of the best riders at The Abbey...and also one of the worst. Not many duffed Sir Leigh but KK did on a regular basis and in full flight was as good a rider as I have seen here but in recent times he looks more like a Conference League rider. Still, on whatever average he is must be somewhere in the 7's (not looked) he wouldn't be a bad shout, or a great shout for that matter, given the continued watering down of the league. A tough choice, if one existed, between him and Troy as both prone to not putting the whole 9 yards in. I guess, we are looking at Grondal and Neilsen as possible reserves, although Davey has also been mentioned. Just depends on what magic Rosco has in his wand..

Except Bellego now has a winners medal... Looking at those signings for the Poundstretcher Poole Pirates (PPP), its unlikely that you could afford a set of tyres for either of those much vaunted riders. Vaculik, a GP rider of some standing, had a look at what you were offering and decided that he might get a few more sheckels at Leicester, at team that has propped the league up for the last couple of seasons. That's a tad embarrassing for a 'big club' such as yourselves. This time last year when certain riders were announced e.g. Klindt the Poole fans were all excited as they believed they signed last seasons best 'ringer', which didn't work out so well if I remember correctly. I think that the major issue will be the mental scarring from all those home defeats at the Four Point Arena. Its everyone's favourite away track now and those Poles will really have to be on the gas early, if its not to be another barren season. I hope not. The Premier League needs a strong PPP side...

Weve heard it all before. Pooles season went downhill so quickly last season David Vine was struggling to keep up. Klindt was supposedly the match winner last season. This season, potentially its Woryna. If thats what Poole are hanging their hat on for the season, theyll do well to get to 40 at the home of The Champions let alone 50...

Of course not. You can have as many employments as you like. There is no restriction. You take the job(s) that suits your needs and desires. Speedway riders are no different and can ride in different countries, if they so wish. There is no divine right to ride speedway in the UK or make it pay to the levels they desire. Ultimately, if the promoters dont pay the money they want, what does a speedway rider do then?

The quality of music, certainly at Swindon, is appalling. Every week, every year the same tiresome songs. I appreciate the sport is not awash with cash but surely someone can provide a different play list for each week? As SCB alludes to, music in the 60s and70s are fine but there is no place for them at a speedway track. Another reminder that promotions just do not have their fingers on the pulse...

ooooohhhhhhhhh...........does he like really big roundabouts?

There is a distinct lack of Christmas cheer on this thread without chucking in this little beauty...
-
Correct. The title of the thread is...?
-
I am not sure...did Brady finish in the top 13? Great effort. Even Justin Sedgmen finished higher and he cant even get near the Swindon team....
-
Looks like another opinion has found its way on to the Forum. Lets just look at those Elite League medal scores... Brady Kurtz Nick Morris That's a fact...
-
Why do you think that? Surely Rosco has Mozza nailed down before letting JD ride off in to the sunset...
-
Garbage decision. Doyle frustrated me many times last season with his inability to team ride but if I wanted a rider to win heat 15 to secure the points, hes the man. Nick is a good rider and his team riding for a young lad is brilliant but hes not the World Champ. I am guessing we have someone, of GP standard lined up, either Holder or PK to fill those boots.
-
Apparently Rosco hasnt got time to talk to Nick or JD as he is still busy buffing up the league trophy...gleaming it is. 🏆
-
Would the purse holder be able to afford Doyle and PK? Nielsen and ZW would be a reasonable reserve pairing and give plenty of scope (35.5 for the top 5) for the Robins engine room...
-
Excellent news on the asset front. Both on very attractive averages and I have no doubt they will be in the team for 2018. A good start to the defence of the title...
-
Then make sure you tuck in to these village idiots in your magazine. Fed up of listening to the utter sh*te these morons trot out year in, year out and all they do is reinvent the wheel. Either, make the sport watchable and tempt the quality back or chuck it all in and go to one league. Halfway house every year does nothing for no one except disaffect supporters and riders alike.
-
I do believe you were 3 and 0 against the Robins at The Four Point Arena last season. Surely, thats a better use of the word struggle?
-
Doyle, although World Champion, failed in my book (on track) to do what a captain should do, which is look after and develop the younger members of the team. Many times last season he left poor Adam to fend for himself when a little bit of thought would have garnered lots more points. Morris was outstanding last season for Swindon and Berwick. He has continued to improve year on year and deservedly won the Swindon rider of the year. His pass in heat 13 at Monmore was immense, will be replayed many more times before I croak and ensured the title returned to Wiltshire The decision between JD and NM, from a speedway perspective, should be a no-brainer. Grachan has already said JD could get up to six rides away from home should it be required. From a management point of view, its a tough one. I personally think it would be a mistake to let JD go, particularly if he wants to ride here in the UK, however, I suspect not having JD back would save Terry Russell a fortune and for that reason i think Swindon will keep Morris and let Doyle go. Not a great start to speedway in the UK 2018, despite all the hype regarding fixed nights and the prospect of GP riders riding in the UK e.g. Vaculik, this smacks of another cost cutting exercise because other promoters are still useless at assembling a competitive side. I am not looking forward to hearing the news of which Swindon asset has won the top prize in the BSPA's Speedway Lottery...
-
Appalling. Why, is there a restriction in place? Why cant we ride to 42.5 with a choice of how the side is made up. Potentially, and I think its a given, the first World Champion in Swindons colours for 50 years will be forced to ride somewhere else or not at all in the UK. Wednesdays is not a big issue for me but, again, another concession Swindon have had to make...
-
Surely that was KL 2017?
-
Great finish from Steve0. Excellent signing for The Lions. Good start to the team building.
-
World class? Alpens a good rider but hes nowhere near that category. It also shows the difference in management skillls, Swindon bought in a rider that rode as a heat leader in Poland as a 2nd string, whereas, Poole brought in Kennett.
-
So I am giving you the choice, assuming you are a football fan. Swindon Town @ £25 or Chelsea @ £50? And explain why?
-
And of course, who could forget the current World Champion...😉

To me the issue with regard to the training of youngsters nurtured by clubs is a different proposition and would have to be dealt with on an individual by individual basis based on the facts surrounding the arrangements provided by the promoters. Balderdash&piffle is bang on the money with regard to the riders engagement and until the BSPA accept the asset market is fundamentally wrong, with all riders free at the end of a specified contract, this ridiculous position will continue. Time for these dinosaurs to come in to the 21st Century. If not, like their predecessors, they and the sport will become extinct...
