  1. You do understand what the word ‘occasionally’ means, Starman? To be fair to AD, the crowds were good, particularly towards the season end and pushing close to 2500-3000. This season the crowds v Zummerset and Poole were decent and pushing somewhere in the vicinity of those figures. The remaining attendances have been bang average. Therefore AD’s use of the word is correct. When I watched the play off semi-final between the Pirates and the Robins at The Four Point Arena and Chesney Hawkes’ ‘I am the one and only’ was belting out, quickly followed by Elvia Presley’s ‘Are you lonesome tonight’, that was an exaggeration, but only just!
  2. Great to see the Robins being innovative again. This time trialling ‘desert speedway’ in an attempt to lure in a big spending Arab. Lots of sandstorms with the track drier than a nun’s chuff. I think its fair to say this meeting will have gone down well with the first time viewers on Al Jazeera television tonight. In truth, a very poor meeting and this was like watching a faster version of The Tour de France. The French Foreign legion revelling in the sandy conditions led from the front with Berge particularly impressive. If there isn’t a 2019 contract in the offing for the lad after this then ‘je ne comprends pas’. If only the French had shown this much effort in fighting the Germans... The hole, or rut, that I pointed out in my last missive showed it’s face again tonight and something seriously needs to be done. It’s been there for several weeks now so there are no excuses. Finally, on my way through the car park I noticed the club had rewarded those loyal patrons that parked their vehicle close to the action with more than liberal helping of the shale, which I thought was a really nice touch from the club. PS. I look forward to my forum buddy STR report on Josh 002Y’s performance this evening.
  3. Quite probably. Seemed strange re Reading, Oxford and Exeter, as nothing heard previously, which is why I asked the question. There could be more to the tv deal and the league structure.
  4. Anyone confirm that BT are pulling out next season? Supposedly North and South leagues next season with a number of teams returning including Reading, Oxford and Exeter... Can’t verify the information but has anyone heard anything.
  5. A poor meeting in front of a good crowd. Congratulations to the Rebels they did what they had to. Aarnio particularly good value for his score. Robins top 4 battled hard but with no back up at reserve there was little chance of winning. Not sure why Nick didn’t come out in 15. No disrespect to Adam but Somerset are rivals for the play off. There have been meetings where it’s been done and dusted and we have won easily and yet he comes out but tonight with potentially something on it, he wasn’t called upon? Also, what is in the middle of bend 3 and 4? There have been issues in the previous meetings where Adam came off on a couple of occasions. Tonight, Alpen nearly binned it and Nick did. It needs to be sorted, whatever the problem is.
  6. I don’t know. Purple chinos and this heat aren’t a good combination. Add in to the mix watching a team worse than the Germans and I can see why he left after 5....
  7. I think the KLS can sneak an away win here. Lambert rode the best I have seen him at Swindon last week, TJ is a decent little trapper and MPT looks an absolute bonus at reserve. If NKI can get close to double figures its 'game on'
  8. How is Starman these days? Just messing Starry, just messing...
  9. Are the gates as per the website. As an example, Huckenbeck appears to be off gates 1 and 2 only?
  10. Is there any tactical options e.g joker or double points in operation tonight?
  11. Not even ridden for the team yet and Klindt’s already getting some practice in...
  12. Maybe Chris H of Dorset and Troy B from Wiltshire could endorse your comments?
  13. Not the greatest meeting but to be fair to the Robins the Rebels were usually 2-3 lengths behind going in to the first turn. Morris sublime and the rest of the team contributed well to a rout. Disappointed with The Rebels given the number of former Robins in the line up. Changes required to make them competitive away from home. P.S Bellego must go...
  14. To be honest, I would have gone with Miss Piggy to go with the other 6 muppets....
  15. Christ, a bit early to be going to Italy, Steve. You usually go when the season is over...
  16. Come on Pinny, that’s three times you’ve alluded to an issue. Spit it out son...what’s going on!
  17. Great point for the Pirates. A never say die attitude which could be crucial in that fight for the wooden spoon.
  18. Mmmm.....I hope you don’t embellish your tax return as much as you’ve embellished the size of tonight’s crowd!
  19. Steve0. No need to defend me. It was early after a day at Newbury races. I made a mistake, so hands held up. Luckily, it’s not as many as Middlo has made over the last two seasons. Perhaps I should change my forum name to Middleditch and nobody would say anything!
  20. Are you Poole fans deliberately obtuse? The seven I alluded to was your starting 7. You know, the team that was going to ‘smash’ everyone...
