Will British Speedway Survive ?

Will British Speedway Survive ?

Incorrect. You have shown a number of indicators but the riders make a massive investment in to their bikes etc. It is therefore possible for a rider to make a loss on the season. Riders are free to choose who to ride for e.g how many riders have chosen Polish speedway over British speedway. I’m not saying it’s morally correct but they can prioritise their work to maximise their income. The tool, CEST, should be completed in cases of status, as you say, to determine whether the individual should be classed within self-employment or an employee but it is only an indicator. The issue you refer to that has been delayed until April 2021 is IR35 and relates to Personal Service Companies, not self-employment. -

Is that your end of season average prediction for each of the three riders? -

I see panto season has finally kicked off down at Pothole Park. I’m guessing as you lads can’t afford to ride with the ‘big boys’ this season would Buttons not be a more appropriate choice at 7?
-
So Adam Ellis (two times league winner) and Jason Doyle, World Champion, did not improve for leaving Poole? You sure you want to go with that statement fb? You could also add Peter Kildemand. He definitely improved after being signed by you boys.
-
Do you mean Todd Kurtz? If you are talking about the Ginja Ninja I’m sure that in 2012, whilst Jason Doyle was winning the league title at the Four Point Arena, he was riding for Swindon as a second string. 5 years later he was World Champion. PUK was an average Premiership rider until 2013 before he got a permanent WC, aged 31. There may be others but those two examples readily come to mind. Kurtz, isn’t my favourite rider, but there is still time to make that step up. A year away from Pothole Park will build his confidence, like it did with Doyle, and may see him kick on and reach the Promised Land.

Just for Reading Racer. A _ A _ / E L L I _ (4,5) Clue: League winner 2017 and 2019.

In average terms possibly, in real terms a huge gulf. As I said, it’s no reflection on Jack Smith (JS) but Anders Rowe (AR) rode as second string for 2 and a bit months at Somerset, doing extremely well for a 17 year old. I cannot remember JS riding to that standard at any time. That suggests to me that despite the relative similarity in averages AR is already ahead of JS and is progressive. Its a big ask but he sounds grounded, clearly has some decent equipment and 4 decent riders to tap into for advice. What’s not to like?
-
As Grachan has identified, Anders was beating established riders such as Cook, Schlein and Worrall towards the end of the season. Surely beating seasoned Championship riders is a benchmark that shows he is on the up. Plus it’s not like he hasn’t ridden Swindon’s track much either. I’d like to think JD, Batch and Rasmus will give him a hand with bike set ups. Anders could be anything and on a 3 I think is worth the gamble but one thing is for sure, and no disrespect to the lad at all, but he would appear to be miles ahead of Jack Smith at this stage of his career.

http://www.somerset-speedway.com/news.php?extend.2619 Finally, clubs co-operating with each other and offering a decent saving of over 25% for speedway fans of the respective clubs. Now, if the promoters of the Premiership clubs are reading, it’s an idea that needs to be thought about for everyone.Offer ‘away’ fans £10 entry on a season ticket. Speedway fans are always moaning that it’s too expensive and there aren’t many away fans, well here’s their opportunity to implement something for 2021. I go away a couple of times a season. However, the trip to Belle Vue for the final, which was £25 all in, was great value and showed that co-operation between clubs is a WIN WIN all round. It was my first visit and it’s an excellent facility. BV received an extra 50 fams that probably wouldn’t have travelled, I’ll be honest I wouldn’t have gone otherwise, and it adds a bit of atmosphere. I will definitely travel to BV again. If similar opportunities to the BV initiative are offered by Swindon for the current season all Premiership clubs will benefit across the board. Time for the promoters to put their thinking caps.

Sid, I do remember you once telling me and everybody on this forum that Auty was a better rider than Howarth! Wells, has no doubt gone backwards but, in general, he used to be competitive as a Premiership second string and at Swindon would pop out and win the odd race. The same cannot be said of Auty. I’m not sure why you are always in Auty’s corner. Wells has slipped, most definitely, however, he still turned in a match winning performance from reserve against Swindon at Awalton not so long back. Auty has never, ever done anything like that at Premiership level. I’d even have Stevie Wonder at reserve instead of Auty.

Poole Pirates 2021
theblueboy replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Great to see a big Premiership club prepared to loan their asset to a much smaller Championship club who have fallen on hard times. Is it true there is going to be a partnership between Swindon and Poole similar to football where the big Premiership clubs loan out their fringe players to clubs nobody has heard of e.g Chelsea players to Vitesse Arnhem. Would you welcome being a feeder club for the Robins? -
If Rosco allowed Alpen to ride elsewhere in the UK on his current average, I will drive him personally to the GWH for an immediate assessment.
-
I have put a few caveats in to the line up but the line up is the bare minimum we should expect to see. Alpen, on his average, is a must. If we get him in to the line up, I’d say we start as favourites. The fact that Rosco alluded to him coming back (I am referencing something I have seen, it might have been earlier on this thread) would suggest he’s having a chat with Alpen and Toruń to see if we can sort the fixtures to enable him to ride here.

Doyle 8.96 Batch 8.82 Ellis 6.49 Bellego 5.80 Morris 5.38 Perks 3.57 Nielsen 3.81 Slightly above 42.50 (42.83) but I think there a few 2.5% reductions in that line up that will take it below 42.50 You could even include Alpen, in place of Bellego and sacrifice Nielsen for a 3.00 or low 3.00. Would Morris come back? I don’t know. He didn’t set the world on fire last year but I know he is capable of much better, used to be mustard at Swindon and clearly the early season injury affected him. Riding at 2 with Doyle would boost his confidence again as it has for young Adam.

Poole Pirates 2021

At least he made the most of it and got himself a nice winners medal. -
Great to see Nikki back. Excellent signing for both the Tigers and British speedway. Who cares what his reasons are for returning. Yes, he isn’t as good as he once was but he is still better than 90% of the current league. If we can drip feed a couple of more decent riders back in to the league this season it will be a decent close season for British speedway. First visit to Owlerton beckons. Well done Sheffield. Poole who?

Poole Pirates 2021

If baffles me, when people don’t let you make a comment. It’s my opinion based on the side or an atypical side Poole will put out. I don’t need to see the actual side you are putting out. What difference will that make! You forget, that people aren’t going against better sides but suddenly with a team in the Championship they will hold up or improve. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that will make me go ‘Wow, I was wrong. That was a good decision by the Pirates to go to the Championship’ -
Poole Pirates 2021
theblueboy replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well, if I was a Poole fan and I had to pay the same price or even a £1 less than last season for that line up, or anything similar, me and speedway in the UK would be done. I cannot believe that Poole fans will be turning out in their hundreds let alone thousands to see a line up like that. I think Poole will regret the next two seasons. Just my opinion. -
