Scunthorpe v Workington shield semi finals
Albert replied to Tosh1218's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Shyte meeting to be fair... Scunny not firing, pretty woeful at times... Drab affair, barring the last heat....Workington perhaps deserved to win but no doubt they'll take the draw, should be enough to win through. -

According to the bspa list... Workington replaced BWD at some point. -

I agree.. In our case, it wasn't so much the injuries that stalled us... under performing reserves caused the damage, perhaps if those reserve riders had been replaced a few months back, we may have reached the play offs. -

Considering all Scunnys injury problems this year.. Danny is the only change that we've made... We could of made plenty more but Rob has stood loyal to his injured riders. Good on Lakeside, they're the only team not to make a change this year... whilst the others are...Sheffield (6), Edinburgh, Ipswich (5), Redcar (4), Glasgow (3), Peterborough (2), Berwick, Newcastle and Workington (1) -

And then factor in fixture clashes.. not much left to pick from. Not sure on eligibility but can see someone like Ryan Kinsley, Nathan Stoneman or Jordan Jenkins (if old enough).. maybe Connor Coles, although I think he may have too many fixture clashes. Sadly the change needed to be made, Danny's confidence was clearly taking a knock...whilst putting extra pressure on Gino to perform.. whoever gets the nod, he isn't likely to be any better than Danny. Good luck to whoever gets the opportunity. -

Early doors it looked odds on Scunny reserves were gonna cost dearly again... However, how important was that 3rd place for Gino in heat 14! The lads got it in him, just needs luck on his side. Great comeback by The Scorpions.... tonight proved how we much we missed Josh and Jake, they were both awesome match winners tonight. It was a night of truly great entertaining racing....to be fair, it usually is whenever Sheffield visit. A neutral would of loved that... Sheffield may be a little disappointed to lose at the death... but wow... what a heat 15, speedway doesn't get much better. Hats of to both teams for putting on a great show. -

Your very lucky if you miss these thunderstorms... Torrential downpours for the past two hours in Scunny… No way would we have got a meeting on tonight. -

Cracking meeting. Scunny just shading a tight battle. Speedway isn't always the best spectacle in blisteringly hot weather, however, this meeting proved that theory wrong. The inevitable dust didn't spoil the proceedings too much. After a bit of a slow start, the meeting simply got better and better. Heat 15 was something special, Auty, Garrity and Harris giving it their all... True Grit! Cookie was awesome after his first outing.. was wondering if his exploits in Cardiff had taken its toll but thankfully that wasn't the case. The Bomber and Cookie partnership looks like it will crucial to Glasgows push for the play-offs. Being able to pair them in three heats is frightening for the rest of us. They team rode brilliantly today (albeit ht15...but that was special race). Glasgow guys were consistently fast out the gate, The Scorpions had to dig deep to achieve the win. Some of starts were a tad questionable though imho. For the Scorpions, a great guest performance from Josh Pickering.. Stevie Worrall continues his comeback trail, a few more meetings and he'll be right back in the groove... Garrity and Auty put in solid performances... but the match winning performance for me was Gino Manzares. Looking a bit out of sorts in recent weeks, his first three rides only produced a solitary point but then crucial second places in heat 12 and 14 proved so important... Onwards and upwards Gino. The second half British Youth Championship deserves a mention too... those that stayed to the end would have witnessed a fantastic Youth 500 Final... Take a bow the Thompson Twins and Leon Flint.. Superb race to end the day. Dan Thompson getting the verdict from the fast charging Flint... Could've thrown a blanket over all three of them, great stuff. -

Gino's form of late has been poor for numerous reasons, injuries and mechanical issues being the main ones... but Gino has proved he has the ability to score well and be a top reserve in this league. Hopefully he can get his problems solved and can soon get amongst the points again....the kid just needs a change of luck. -

Comfortable home win.. Fantastic meeting for Josh Auty, well deserved paid maximum, he had to work hard for it... Great back up from Guest riders Schlein and Summers, particularly Schlein who again showed his liking for the EWR. Josh Pickering and Joel Andersson impressed most for the visitors. Rcky Wells not quite up to his usual standard... Edinburgh pushed hard but never really troubled the home team. Not a classic by Scunny standards...but some hard fought racing on a blisteringly hot day... and all done in hour n half. -

It was hardly a deliberate fall though... no real case to put Lawson off 15m. -

Danny was brought in at the start of the season with no expectations heaped upon him... All that was asked was for him to go out and do his best... Which he is,... Probably trying too much to be fair, which accounts for the odd tumble now and again. You can see him putting the effort in, effort that isnt always reflected in his scores. There's few out there that could do a better job on his average...so give the lad a break...Show him support and encouragement instead of putting extra pressure on the poor kid. We've shown loyalty to Stevie, Stefan and Gino during hard times ... Danny deserves the same. Keep faith, fingers crossed, our injury problems should start to ease soon and we can kick on again. -

Scorpions gifted that one away... fair play to Lakeside, took advantage of our misfortune and costly mistakes. Disappointing home loss again, we need our injured back asap before its too late. After a few dodgy opening heats the racing improved and turned into a quite entertaining meeting, some great racing, just a shame from a Scunny point of view that we lost.... only got ourselves to blame though! Well done Lakeside. -

I think Flappy meant at what cost to us for not making permanent replacements... Up to last night, i'd say probably minimal... Making use of the guest facility is always gonna be a gamble, sometimes it works...but last night they were pants, didn't amass anywhere near the points our lads would've scored. That said, I'm pleased we're sticking loyal to our injured riders, hopefully they'll be back before too long and we can kick on again. Short term pain for long term gain. -

Some glum looking home fans leaving the EWR tonight... Whilst a decent contingent of Peterboro fans left with beaming smiles on their faces. Peterboro well deserved winners... no arguments from me on that score... and wow, what a match winning performance from Tom Bacon, didn't see that one coming! Big well done to him. Good meeting also for Palm Toft. Disappointing to lose... However the racing was again top notch and provided some great entertainment, despite the track being rather slick and dry. The track conditions probably played into Peterboros hands a little, i'd of put plenty dirt down and plenty of water on, we know certain Peterboro riders don't like a wet ERW!... Maybe it was prepared with tomorrows big dirt bike meeting in mind? In the end, Scunnys injury woes bit them on the bum. Scunnys two guest facilities didn't work out, poor show from Schlein and a rather inept performance from Stewart did a lot of the damage... a poor return from the rider replacement rides didn't help our cause either. Hope I don't come across as making excuses, i'm not, we were simply beaten by a better team tonight. Hope our injured riders get back to the tapes soon so we can kickstart our season again. -
Scorpions vs Diamonds - 08.06.18 19.30
Albert replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Decent meeting... Score line flattered Scunny a little. Newcastle were good value and in Tero Aarnio, they were desperately unlucky not to claim what would of been a deserved point for their efforts. The track got better as the meeting progressed... the outside line didn't seem to work too well for the first half of the meeting, but that didn't effect the quality of racing. Jake Allen impressed for The Scorpions, whilst Auty, Garrity and Howarth provided good back up. For Newcastle, praise goes to Tero Aarnio for another impressive EWR performance. Robbo, Kus and Morris all played their part... Lindgren, seen him have good meetings round Scunny but lately he doesn't seem on it. Expected more from Wilko too, proving Scunny were right to ditch him last season. -

Any news on Scunnys team? No Worrall, No Neilsen, Manzares a major doubt... Has Garrity recovered?.... Meeting is tomorrow, would've thought some news would filter through. -

Howarth guesting for Stevie would be good.... latest averages would suggest Josh, Jake and Gino (x2) could cover Stefans R/R rides if needed, that's not such a bad situation. -
Scorpions vs Comets - Championship 18.05.18
Albert replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
In the end, a comfortable victory for Scunny... but at what cost? Hopefully Gino ain't too badly hurt, hoping for good news and wishing him all the best. Bit of a bruising encounter... First Auty/Lunna.... then Lunna (again)/Manzares.. and Danny Phillips x3 ...all in the wars. The meeting seemed to drag, but that's speedway, can't be helped when these incidents occur. Withdrawals from Manzares (Coccyx injury?) and Lunna (Don't know of injury, but poor lad probably had no bikes left) ..Hope all injured parties heal soon. As for the racing.. After the first few processional heats the quality improved no end.. There was four or five real quality heats and some very hard fought racing. Scunny deserved winners, despite another fantastic effort from Tero Aarnio. Expected a bit more from Proctor and Klindt. Just a little mention for Danny Phillips... Tried too hard tonight and paid the cost, can't fault the lad for effort.. a little more patience and one day it'll just click... stick in there Danny... there's a good score coming. -
