Scunthorpe v Somerset 17.5.19 League
Albert replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Fair play to Somerset, caught us weakened but fully deserved the win. Worst refereeing performance i've seen in 45 years of watching speedway.... absolutely shocking!...laden with mistakes, called so many races wrong... both teams on the end of some bizarre decisions, spoilt what should've been a good meeting. -
Edinburgh v Scunthorpe KOC 2nd leg 11/5 @7pm
Albert replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If he can't be arsed to turn up, then that's his problem...As much as i'm a fan of his entertaining racing, I don't him condone missing meetings...get rid I say, we want committed riders, not someone who just rides when they want... that's coming from one let down Scorpions fan.....gawd knows what his sponsors must think! -

I quite agree... Unless he's got a good excuse. He's let himself down, the promoters down...more importantly he's let us scunny supporters and his fellow teammates down. Its no wonder they didn't put a better show on! Not to mention the Edinburgh fans that turned up expecting to see an entertaining meeting...cos I guess that was far from entertaining. On another note.. Hope Josh Auty is okay after his withdrawal from the meeting. -
Scunthorpe v Redcar CS 26.4.2019
Albert replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Always appreciate your unbiased opinions HT, usually on the button....I kind of disagree on this statement though...this meeting was perhaps the poorest in terms of quality racing so far this season. However, the previous three home meetings have thrown up some exceptional mind blowing speedway, as good as we've ever seen at Scunny. (In my opinion) I think last nights lack of track grading was more a tactical decision.. Redcar were the ones wanting it graded. Scunny is such a fair track, why would the home team want to give away any slight advantage they had by giving in to their opponents demands. -
Scunthorpe v Redcar CS 26.4.2019
Albert replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Far from a classic.. but tight meeting with some good close racing. The meeting just had too many interruptions, it never really got into its stride. Redcar huffed n puffed and rather fortuitously took the lead after six heats, Scorpions looking like they could throw this one away at this point! Thankfully, the Scorpions got stuck in and produced a strong finish to win the meeting. For Redcar.. They were all competitive, all showed glimpses....but ultimately, they all lacked that consistency needed to make an impact to the overall scoreline. Standout riders for Scunny were Jake Allen, Jason Garrity and Josh Auty... they were the backbone, they providing the much needed race winners when it mattered. -
Decent meeting on a pleasantly nice warm day, Scunny deserving winners. Liking the look of Ryan Kinsley, he's taken to the EWR, deserved more for his efforts... and should of got more, i'm pretty sure he pipped Proctor in heat 14. Hardly a weak link in the Scorpions today, they all pulled their weight, all having a race win to their name. Also thought Jake Allen had pipped Danny King in heat 13, ref obviously thought different. Kyle Howarth was the pick of the Tigers, some great racing from him.. and praise too for Zaine Kennedy, thought he rode better than his score suggests.

Scunthorpe v Edinburgh 14.04.2019 KOC
Albert replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Some decent action, racing got better as the meeting progressed. Good win for Scunny but fear the margin of victory could be 20 points short. Well done to the all the riders and referee for swiftly getting on with the meeting … bitterly cold afternoon, meeting done and dusted in hour and 10 minutes. -
Not sure... but having released a rider, I don't think you can reintroduce him within same season....?
-
Unlucky for Jedd, he wasn't too much off the pace... however, it was obvious enough that the kid was gonna struggle for points this year. Good on him for accepting the decision, look forward to seeing him progress, albeit, not in the team.

Scunthorpe v Leicester 5.4.19 CShield
Albert replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Some classic EWR racing to open the season. Nice to get a Scorpions win... Leicester fully deserving a point for their efforts in what was a great meeting. Lots to action to reflect on; Worrall's pass on Garrity in heat 5 .. Wow! Allen and Douglas trading passes almost every bend in heat 7.. Wow! Passing galore and a great 5-1 for Leicester in heat 10.. Wow! Ryan Kinsley rounds and beats Nicholls in heat 11.. Wow! Ryan Kinsley repeats his heroics to win a fantastic heat 12.. Wow! Leicester on a 5-1, reversed to a Scorpions 5-1 in a stupendously close heat 13.. Wow! Shame this meeting wasn't covered on tv... what a great advert for speedway. More of the same next week please -
Can we have our thread back please.. lol

Are Scunny the only championship team not to have team kevlars?... The pics I've seen from Sheffield's and Redcars p&p would suggest not..?
-
But....Is Josh having a testimonial? Nothing been publicised as yet.

Personally, i'd much prefer to see him on the track rather than the clubhouse.. Scunthorpe town folk are very proud of Tai's achievements and have taken him as their own. Many have not seen what Tai actually does for a living.. It would be such a coup for the town if Tai would commit to riding in a meeting...would also give Scunthorpe Speedway a much needed publicity boost locally. I've always felt a bit let down that Tai has never returned to his hometown track in a riding capacity... the track on which he launched his British career.

Lots of questions marks..… Much will depend on how the new Aussies perform, how well the upcoming national league lads adapt and whether last years injured riders return to their previous best.... and IF you can have an injury free season. All those questions apply to my team Scunny, but I see every team having its own set of worries and expectations. Struggling to make any kind of prediction, however, I do like the look of Somerset, with perhaps Sheffield, Eastbourne and Leicester making up the top four. As previous posters have said, I don't think there is out and out favourite this year, this makes next season wide open, exciting and one I look forward to.
-
Rumour also had him down as No1 for Birmingham.. Whoever, good luck to him, hope he can back to the level he was at before the last injury.
-
You're assuming Steve wanted to come back... maybe he didnt.. or perhaps he did but got a better offer elsewhere.
-
Nah, although I reckon Job Godfrey is
-
Josh Auty Jake Allen Jason Garrity Josh Pickering Jedd List Josh Bailey Jack Thomas Possible, the way things are going... should be about 38 pts.
-
Well done Worky, thoroughly deserved... too strong for us Scorpions last night. Hope you win all your finals.

Scunthorpe v Workington. Knockout Cup Final 1st Leg
Albert replied to Tosh1218's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Great entertainment... as said by HT, some cracking racing... This on a well prepared, if a little slicker than normal ewr. Jensen again showing his liking to the track, he's been quite outstanding on his visits this year. Mason Campton too was easily Comets second best rider, that heat 12 win was pretty special, what a great race. The other Comets were on the pace but generally got beat up on first two turns. For Scunny, the combo of Garrity and Allen were superb... 5-1's in each of their three rides together. Decent guest in Wells, who along with Nielsen, Worrall and Manzares all put good solid scores on the board. Danny Phillips, to his credit, tried hard with no reward. So 18 point lead... still all to play for. -
What was most annoying about that meeting was that after all the efforts to return the track back a decent condition, it was the actions of a few riders... namely Palm Toft (Scun) and Ostergaard (Peterboro) that put an end to the meeting. Rider power at its best.. my biggest gripe about the sport.

Scorpions v Peterborough KOC 5.10.18
Albert replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It was interesting to see how track conditions affected the racing line tonight... in all my years watching speedway at the EWR, I don't think I've ever seen riders almost having to kiss the air fence in order to find the dirt.... not the norm... but nonetheless, created some courageous, spectacular speedway. -

Other than the efforts of Aarnio and to a lesser extent Lambert... woeful performance from Peterborough. Great show from Scunnys top six... only last places were Danny Phillips three rides...and to be fair to Danny, he actually looked like he was trying at times. Jake Allen was immense, revelled in the conditions. Half way in the tie, but fancy Scunnys chances of reaching the final now.
