Witches V Scorpions 24/4/14 Pl
Albert replied to dontforgetthefueltapsbruv's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The Guest facility just isn't doing Scunny any favours..as it proved again tonight. Need a new rider quick or I fear Scunnys season will be over before too long. Most disappointed with this result and some of the performances tonight. -
Newcastle Diamonds Vs Scunthorpe Scorpions 20/04/14
Albert replied to DIAMONDS's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I would concur with the character assessment.. Has always come across as a very polite and mild mannered lad. As for the incident, wasn't there so can't comment. -
No big surprise with Ryan, he is flying and carrying on where he left off last season. Scunthorpe fans could see he was something a bit special and it's really pleasing to see him return and look like fulfilling that potential. Number one by the end of the season? If he continues in his current form then that's quite a possibility. I would agree with some previous posts about Steve Worrall. He's impressed me more than most. I often pop down to Scunnys training sessions to see who's there and watch a bit of action. The Worralls have been regular visitors this winter. They rode a pair, pushed each other hard, you could see the effort these two we're putting in, was really impressive to see. Steve looked very much on par with his brother. It would seem all this effort and dedication is paying off. Maybe other riders should take note...put the time and effort in during the winter and you'll hopefully reap the rewards.

Scunthorpe V Cradley (national League) 13th April 2014
Albert replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
I don't blame Cradley (or Mildenhall or Kent)..given their support they have to build a strong team. Likewise, I don't blame Scunny either, its in their interest to build a team with development as the main aim. The other teams may have to take a different direction. That's what makes it such a diverse league, ten teams with perhaps ten different agenda's... I say we have to live with it, stop moaning and let them get on with it. I do feel a tad sorry for Cradley fans though.. their support is tremendous, they deserve better. For the good of speedway, the sooner they can move up a league (or two) the better. -
Great meeting today.. Scorpions just edging another EWR cracker. Somerset impressed with Aspgren and the Kurtz brothers..but the day truly belonged to Scunnies Ryan Douglas, twas an epic performance from the young aussie. Was also good shows from David Howe and Ash Birks, fantastic match winning rides by Ash in heats 14 & 15.

Sheffield V. Scunthorpe 10/04/14 Lc
Albert replied to Cue Ball's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well Done Scunny... Never saw that win on the cards. -
Surprised it wasn't n all 4 back decision, it just seemed like a typical bend one collision to me, certainly nothing that could be described as wreckless... Shame there's no video crew at Scunny to prove one way or the other. However, there 's no excuse for Halls reaction, it was bang out of order, it'll be interesting to see how the authorities deal with him. As for the meeting, there was some really good racing. Redcar ran out deserved winners, bit more ruthless than Scunny out the gate. For Scunny, we can take heart out of the return of Ryan Douglas, a bright spot in what's been a disappointing, injury hit start to the campaign.

That's something then, a step in the right direction :-) ... shame it doesn't apply to all levels though. -
Redcar Bear V Scunthorpe Scorpions Lc 3/4/14

Poor night for The Scorpions, didn't see that result coming to be honest. Big improvement required. Well done Redcar, sounds like your 1-7 all rode extremely well and took advantage of Scunnies misfortune. I know it wouldn't of made much difference to the score tonight... but why oh why, for the good of speedway.... why can't the R/R rule be utilised when a No1 gets injured in his first ride?. Expecting the reserves to carry a No1 is a big ask. It gets talked about a lot but has the rule ever been considered by the powers that be? -
Tigers the deserved winners on the day. Their more experienced riders came up trumps with some good gating and cute battles round turns 1 and 2. Sheffield looking good, especially with Compton filling a reserve berth, Scunny got Ryan Douglas to come... plenty reasons for both teams to be excited about this coming season.

Maybe its Scunnies ability to bring the young kids on that attracts Poole. The thriving amateur scene and practice sessions provide more opportunities for rider progression than at most tracks. I guess Scunthorpe offers a better proposition in that respect. Maybe the concept of this arrangement will inspire another Elite League outfit to form some alliance with IOW and maybe save speedway at that venue.

And Sheffield is our other double fixture.
-
I'm sure the majority of scunny fans love it when Sheffield fail... like spinny says its rivalry, sure Sheffield fans feel the same about us.... I'm also pretty sure that no fan of either team is that small minded that they would want a rival team to close down.

Good meeting last night... can't really add to what others have already said about Jensen and Bech, Plymouth got a good pair there. Todd Kurtz impressed too. Great overall performance from Scunny though, particularly impressive show from Nicolai Klindt...and young Ryan Douglas, he's riding superbly at the minute. Best wishes to Kalle Katajisto, hope he heals quickly from his injuries. As for David Howe, sincerely hope we've not seen the last of him, quality rider, great bloke...going through a rough time with injuries at the moment, bit of time out won't do him any harm. When he gets back on it, i've no doubt, he's got the enthusiasm and will power to get back to his best.

Disappointing result for the Scoprions. Like previous posters have said, you couldn't fault Auty, Birks and Doolan for effort, the rest were pretty woeful. Despite some excellent racing, the nature of this defeat does little to lift the doom and gloom that hovers over our club at the moment. Well done to Redcar, each rider contributed well....you caught the champs in chump mode. Talking of chumps....just hope the bspa mc make better decisions next time Rob wishes to make changes....

I don't really know what to make of it.... Part of me thinks, fantastic signing. Its good that Scunny are prepared to give a young brit the opportunity to fastrack his development. Hopefully it will prove a great move by the club and rider, especially IF he becomes a club asset. I've seen plenty of Josh around Scunny to realise the kids got genuine talent, good people around him and also a huge appetite to practice (and with the EWR at his disposal, no better opportunity to do just that)...all the ingredients are there for him to give it a good go, good luck to the lad. Slight worry that Scunny will start the season appearing a tad weakened at reserve... but i do believe that given time and bags of practice the reserve duo will come good.

I'd be happy if Tom Young starts the season, see how he goes.. Charles Wright wouldn't be a bad alternative.

I've read comments on the Scunny forum, Rob Godfrey claims he enquired about Stefan but couldn't agree terms. Maybe Ipswich did the same?
