  1. Its all a matter of opinion... I disagree on this one, I strongly think a RR facility should be granted under these circumstances. Yes, its a professional sport... and as such the powers that run it should respect that.. Grant a RR instead of weakening the product and making it less professional by insisting on a NL guest.
  2. Originally excluded under the two minute rule... He was then due to go off 15m in the second attempt but again failed the 2 min rule.
  3. Why shouldn't a close family wedding be a valid enough reason for a RR facility?... Of course it should..as should the birth of a child.. death of a close relative etc etc. Speedway should respect a riders commitments and family values. It could be argued that the RR facility put Scunny at a disadvantage, so why would you want to try weaken the spectacle and opposition further by enforcing a NL guest? Its reasons like this that speedway is a mess at times, it doesn't do the sport any favours. If the boot was on the other foot, if it was your team, your riders brother getting married, you may just think differently.
  4. Not a classic... but a welcome win... with some great racing from the Scorps. Scorpions just too good today. Few highlights...The Auty/Douglas 5-1 in heat 13 will live long in the memory, sublime passing from the pair of them... Fritz Wallner winning a race and continuing his progress was also great to see. Worky had a day to forget... Wells didn't look interested at times... and where was the real Kenneth Hansen?... the main resistance coming from Vissing and Jensen... The rest were average at best.
  5. Quality meeting, shame the Scorpions couldn't hang on for the win.. but fair play to Somerset on a fine comeback... I do think that's one we threw away to be honest. If only the real Auty and Douglas had turned up!.. Both well below their best today, consistently lost the first bend battle. Have to say I was expecting a row of 0's from the boy Fritz.. but fair play, he wasn't that bad. He entertained and worked his socks off for his paid four points. Whether RR would've yielded more we'll never know. Some fantastic racing... and considering the warm and windy weather, the track was brilliantly prepared with little or no dust to speak of. Congrats to Somerset, they did what they do best.....and that's win PL meetings.
  6. I was in the box, had a great view of it... Kerr got it by a tyre width... Unfortunately the ref chose otherwise.
  7. Fantastic meeting... with Edinburgh having all the luck. The racing was simply brilliant, one of the best meetings this year, just a shame it ended like it did. Would've been a different result had the ref rightly called heat 12, no way did clegg win that... and Fisher should've been excluded from heat 10, racing incident yes, he didn't deliberately mean to rear up, however it was dangerous, it impeded Ryan Douglas.. if it wasn't for Ryans awareness it would of resulted in a massive off for both riders. That said, congrats to both teams, was one hell of a meeting. Scunny rode under protest with regards to Mitchell Daveys inclusion... so we'll have to wait and see the outcome of that.
  8. Excellent win for Scunny... our season seems like its finally started. Dislike afternoon racing...An afternoon meeting on a warm blustery day was never gonna produce fantastic racing heat after heat....but three or four of those races were simply brilliant (from a Scunny perspective). All the best to Alex Davies.
  9. To be fair to Rob, he cancelled our last meeting due to a similar forecast and took some unnecessary criticism for his decision.. as it turned out on that occasion the wet stuff didn't quite arrive as predicted. Damned if you do, damned of you don't... I guess calling meetings is a promoters worst nightmare. I last looked at the forecast two days ago, no sign of todays rain then... but having looked again (after Shads post).. it was pretty obvious that once the rain arrived it wasn't likely to stop till midnight.... On this occasion the forecast was about bang on. Had the rain held off for just an hour longer, I reckon the meeting could have run to the point of getting a result.
  10. We need someone that can actually win a race... Watt would certainly be able to do that.. Its the sort of signing we need, but is it likely?
  11. Time for another change? One or two obvious underperformers in the ranks.. by my reckoning we could replace Davies and have 8.86 to find a reasonable number 1. Alternatively, replace Wilko and have 7.33 to play with. But who's out there, who's available? .... are we stuck with what we've got?
  12. Better option then having to bring in another assessed 7 pointer... Lewis is a proven rider..goes well round Scunny and will hopefully prove to be a shrewd signing. Not the out and out number one the Scorpions really need but nonetheless given rider availability this is a good signing. Welcome Lewis, good luck to the lad.
  13. I remember those seasons back in the 70's, every week a struggle... but loved it none the less. Times have changed though.. we hardly had any assets back in the day.. or none with that much quality. What annoys us Scunny supporters now.. is seeing our own assets or riders that have grown up around the EWR riding against us. Just think what team we could have if we used some of these!. I don't think there's many clubs that hasn't got a rider with that 'Scunthorpe Factor' in their current team..
  14. Rule 5.4.4 clearly states... No Motorcycle to be ridden on the Infield nor in the Pits (except the designated area). What it doesn't say (or at least I don't think it does) is what the penalty is for committing such an offence. Mondays Ref suggested the offence is dealt with in the same way as any other starting offence... therefore 15m or a reserve replacement.
  15. Poor show from Scunny today.. fair play to Peterborough though (three riders in particular), they came and beat us fair and square. Other than Josh Autys last to first tactical ride there was little to cheer for the home supporters. Simply no consistency in the home ranks... they are all capable riders.. but can't seem to get three riders to hit form at the same time. Despite only posting one point from three rides, seen something in Andreas Lyager today which convinces me that he'll prove a good signing. It was by no means a classic meeting.... a breezy, mild, sunny afternoon, made the track a bit of a dust bowl today, bit of a rarity round Scunny. Credit to the riders for giving it their best... Particularly the kids in the Youth Championships which followed the main meeting. Those that stayed behind was treated to some fantastic racing..particularly the five lads in the 250's..brilliant stuff, well done lads.
  16. Also on his facebook......the following translation..... Doesn't make a great deal of sense.. but does indicate sickness. Unfortunately 5 Place Pocking Andreas Lyager (3,0,3,3,1) 10 points in a strong group and help judge on the last run interrupted in the first place and unfortunately hit 1 point. Andreas fought today with sickness and players and that is such a sport well done three more years and you have to fight
  17. Good luck to Holub... We've seen glimpses of what he's capable of...he's a far better rider than his average would suggest. I'm sure, given his low average that someone will offer him a chance to fulfil his real potential. Shame..but changes needed to be made. Holub was always the likely candidate to make way (whatever his average), I guess everyone was reasonably happy keeping hold of Auty, Douglas, Davies and Wilko as they're all capable of producing big scores around Scunny. Getting Wilko back in a reserve berth by replacing Holub with MPT was a no brainer really. That said, I don't think the changes significantly strengthen us, they should however make us a little stronger at home. Its good that the club has honoured the decision to give Andreas Lyager another go, they could of easily reneged on the deal in order to bring in a more proven seven pointer. Hopefully Andreas will prove to be a shrewd signing... fingers crossed he doesn't turn out to be another 'Holub'..
  18. Correct... but never seen him embrace the promotion team like he did last night ... time will tell.
  19. Geez lewy... Any chance your mouth bleeds every 28 days...
  20. Mpt was in attendance last night, putting two n two together...?
  21. Not normally a great fan of Individual Meetings... but wow, that was a good'n, shame the Sky camera's wasn't there tonight. Great track, produced cracking racing in every heat...
  22. http://www.scunthorpetelegraph.co.uk/Scunthorpe-Scorpions-make-change/story-29261158-detail/story.html So two in... We knew Morris was only a temporary fix, so i'm guessing he'll be one to make way... Who's gonna be the other? They're all likeable lads and all capable of putting in a performance...albeit inconsistently..so shame to see any of them go..but guess needs must. Incoming... I guess two from these five... Lyager, Tofty, Compton, Hall, Proctor...? Anyone else spring to mind?
  23. Hammered at Peterborough, Berwick and Glasgow.. I make that three bad results! Supporters already thinking its a waste of time following the team on its travels, unless changes are made, how long before they say its not worth watching at home either. We need strengthening... Edit... make that 4... the home defeat to Peterborough wasn't much fun either. (or Sheffield...but that wasn't no great surprise)
  24. Lyager would presumably become an asset whereas Morris wouldn't... Therefore gotta be in the best interest of the club to go down that route.
  25. I can't honestly see Scunny doing too well in this one.....think we may get a good hammering...hope I'm wrong though.
