Leicester v Eastbourne 04.05.19
Gemini replied to Barrow Boy 2's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'd do the lottery this week if I were you. Smack on with tonight's score but what a cracking match it was ~ best this season ~ and the Lions only pulled away because of three 5-1's in the last 3 heats. Just shows how good the racing can be when the visiting team is prepared to put up a fight so well done to Eastbourne but congratulations to the Lions also for continuing to battle away after losing Josh Bates following his nasty crash in his first ride after both Eastbourne riders fell in front of him. Hope he recovers quickly. -
Don't bother going to Leicester then because there were at least 4 there tonight and sorry to disappoint you but no dog poo and no barking. You always know someone is losing the argument when they resort to stupid comments like taking a dog to the cinema . Speedway attendances of a few hundred people standing on a grassy bank as against thousands seated at a Football match is another daft comment not really worthy of a reply.

I can't understand this rule anyway. Coventry ran Greyhound Racing and dogs were still always allowed. Wolverhampton, Oxford and Swindon all did then suddenly brought the rule in so that was the end of our visits to those tracks. There aren't exactly any Greyhounds wandering around during Speedway matches so why are visiting fans pet dogs banned? If it's just a health risk it would be simple enough to show up-to-date injection records.

Poole v Belle Vue Thurs 2nd May 2019

Still possible for all the elderly supporters to have a lie in on Sunday morning or an extra nap during the afternoon then go to bed earlier than usual. -

Bank Holiday Monday is a bit different to a midweek match, especially with a lunchtime start so plenty of time to be tucked up in bed at a reasonable hour for work the next day. -
Yes how did I forget Swindon? After gaining entry and paying the car park charge we then got escorted off the premises at checkpoint 2. Never been back since.

If no-one replies about Eastbourne you'll probably be able to find out tomorrow. You used to be able to take them as we have been but that was many years ago when Coventry won 46-45. That result is stuck in my memory for some reason.......or was it 45-44. You can add Newcastle and Wolverhampton to the No list.

Thanks very much for checking. I have been offered £20 for it and 7 other badges so just wondered as I have no idea. I will stick with the offer then. Thanks again.

Bates riding should be interesting. Best to stand well back. I think Ryan is still recovering from his painful shoulder injury so will probably find the Eastbourne track a bit difficult.

Anyone have a rough idea how much one of these would be worth please?

Leicester v Newcastle 27.04.19
Gemini replied to Barrow Boy 2's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well I was grateful thanks as I wouldn't have gone on Saturday. I think I must be past standing around in freezing cold weather now because I had decided earlier than the call off that I wasn't going whether it rained or not. Perhaps the promotion should just keep quiet and not explain anything because when they do their words get criticised anyway. I had been thinking this season how well they were doing with their use of the media and even the reason for any delays during a match being explained over the loudspeakers, but perhaps it's not the best idea. -

I think you should read through the posts again because a few of us have said it was a good match, but there is never anyone on a Leicester topic who actually goes into a great deal of detail about individual rider performances or heat details. If you support the Lions perhaps you can do it? -

I think it would have been well down last night as well, rain or no rain. I wouldn't have ventured out in that freezing cold wind for a start and I'm sure as Speedway fans are mostly elderly ~ according to opinion on here ~ there would be a good few staying at home as well. I was beginning to think I should have stayed at home this afternoon too when finding the shopping centre car park closed as I had no idea where I was going or if I'd be capable of walking to the stadium, after finding somewhere to park the car. That's if I could even find it Good match though in spite of the score and well done to Ellis Perks on a magnificent 12 points. -

Really? Just looked at the two teams and Newcastle seem pretty good to me. We'll find out tomorrow night. -

I'm free. -
Normally all crowds are up at the beginning of each season. Since opening in 2011 I'd say Leicester's have gone down over the years but have now leveled out to probably around 1,500?

No-one mentioned Peter York yet? Having put up with him at Coventry for several seasons commenting on each race my answer is definitely NO it is not needed and is damn annoying.

Peterborough v Kings Lynn Prem Mon April 22nd
Gemini replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think it was announced that they are still working on getting the track better but if that was a gaters paradise tonight (described by Lukas) then Peterborough fans are very lucky to still get such good racing. If only Leicester's track had been designed like this one. Love my trips to the showground but unless there is another Bank Holiday one that will probably be my only visit this season. -
Leicester Vs Sheffield CS 20th April

But then we would have even more boring and follow-the-leader racing if riders are instructed not to try to win but settle for the place they are in after the first lap. I do know what you mean though as it was a bit of a reckless move so early on in the race when he could perhaps have beaten Ty if he had bided his time a bit. -

Must admit some riders did seem to have problems with it and there were some dodgy lines taken around bend 4, that's if they managed to get round at all. -

But to look on the bright side no watering had to be done after a lovely sunny day and there was no dust. Take a look at the film on the Poole thread and see if you would put up with that. I actually quite enjoyed the match tonight even though in some of the heats the riders were strung out 'follow the leader' style after the back straight of the first lap. There were enough good races to make it interesting and the Lions winning was always in doubt as Sheffield kept the scoreline close. Another bonus ~ no firework at the beginning so I wasted my time sticking my fingers in my ears waiting for it to happen. I hope that was just a one off last week and the idea has been abandoned. Lucy doesn't like fireworks either. -

Mario Jirout. Quite a character. -
Mine as well ~ as soon as they were old enough to be left that was it. Perhaps it was all those years taking them around different tracks and basing our holidays in areas we would be able to attend at least one match during the week away. I think we even managed 3 meetings when in Dorset ~ one at Poole and Weymouth twice.

I was thinking that too.
