  1. Don't think his balls will ever drop because he hasn't got any. So easy to spot each time though.
  2. I'm probably older than you actually as I first went to Speedway at Blackbird Road in 1949. What on earth would I do without a gustix link to find my way to the 'Years Gone By' section. I'm still not going though. Anyway, here's the man himself in his prime on the right hand side of the photo. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/148310_10150144557287785_6869528_n.jpg?oh=195f464af328552d0d2914535d246685&oe=571976DB
  3. I'm not a betting person but I'd like to have a bet on that not happening.
  4. Oh gosh sorry. I never go in there ~ too many old people probably discussing how much better Speedway was years ago and recalling events I can't even remember.
  5. I suppose only us 'oldies' will remember him but he was always one of my favourite riders when he rode for the Hunters. RIP Bryan. Courtesy of the Lions website. "We are sad to learn that Bryan Elliott passed away in Adelaide, Australia a week last Friday. Bryan was elected captain of the Leicester Hunters junior team in 1954 and that year he made his senior debut in the match at home to Bristol, which was the start of a long career at Leicester. Another thirty-two appearances followed over the next two seasons and his big breakthrough came in 1957 when he scored nine points against Rayleigh. That fixture turned out to be the springboard that secured him a regular place in the team. Adding another two points a match to his league average in 1958, Bryan maintained this level through the following summer before international caps came his way and a World Fin al appearance in 1960 completed his best year in speedway. If there were titles to be handed out then the label of ‘Mr Dependable’ would have been awarded to Bryan who between June 1957 and September 1961 never once missed a meeting having ridden in 148 consecutive matches. Bryan was forced to leave his home town club in 1962 when Leicester dropped down a division. He then signed for Coventry although towards the end of the season was given special dispensation to ride for both clubs. Elliott stayed at Brandon until the end of 1964 before helping Halifax re-launch the sport at the Shay. Shortly after marrying, Bryan emigrated to Australia. He was eighty five years old."
  6. I do love a poster that corrects someone and then makes a mistake themselves.
  7. This is sounding like a fun season ahead ~ a new Pole getting to grips with the track and Josh Bates who seems to get excluded a lot, plus the anticipation of waiting to see if Sarjeant jumps the start. Will we get the KK who is wanting to race or the one who toddles round at the back completely disinterested? I can't wait for March to find out the answers.
  8. Oh good. That will keep us debating and moaning for another few months once it becomes clear who is and who isn't on it instead of all the speculation.
  9. Of course not as you're very good at arguing. You wouldn't get involved in half as many disagreements if you just answered straight forward questions and stopped saying things are fact when it's just your opinion. Having an opinion doesn't actually make it factual but hey ho carry on as you obviously enjoy arguments even if you end up looking a bit silly. Which means that 5 out of 6 are managing okay. That's a pretty good percentage and it depends if those 16% are still finding the money to smoke and drink whilst cutting back on other things.
  10. Someone had to pay for a team that were top of the league for most of the season. Hans Andersen wouldn't have been paid peanuts either, even though that's all he deserved. How much is it at Poole then? Can't you find something else to do like learning how to spell conveniently, wander and allegedly instead of following Gavan around? If you'd just answered the question you were asked in the first place we wouldn't be continually going round in circles....again.
  11. Yep I'm sure Kasprzak is really cheap and Chris Harris.
  12. Yes and keeping a few from this season too which I think is what went wrong between 2014 and 2015 and why the attendances dropped ~ that and the disjointed fixture list of course. Hopefully more fans will support The Storm next season.
  13. Get your sunglasses out ~ you'll need them.
  14. I went off him when he stood in front of me at the Coventry v Poole semi-final and his two girls were supporting the Pirates. What a way to bring two children up when they actually live in Coventry.
  15. Ha Ha! Be careful as that's how I started off in 1984. You might find yourself becoming a Bees fan eventually. Anyway, better stop before the forum police turn up as this is a Poole thread.
  16. I'm sure Neil said it applies to university students as well? Perhaps he'll confirm.
  17. Students £5 at Coventry. Elite League ALL ADULTS (16+) £17 STUDENT (16+) £5 (on production of proof of full-time education - school or college) CHILDREN (Under 16) FREE PROGRAMME £3
  18. Well, at least you realize it won't be Rooboy ~ can't see him leaving Kings Lynn.
  19. Yes, who was that rider he stuck with all season even though he was useless? American rider? Sometimes it's quite advantageous going senile because I forget all the annoying things about the sport....apart from what happened at Poole in 2010 of course as that will be etched in my memory forever.
  20. Shame we've got to face Poole first. Can't we just give them the Shield and start a week later as they are bound to win anyway? It doesn't seem like a very good idea to have Bomber's testimonial just two days later either as not everyone can afford two meetings in two days, especially us poor old pensioners now we've got to pay full price.
  21. Are you serious ~ Posts 13 to 1816? I'd rather apologise for being wrong now than have to wade through that lot again. I can only remember Game On being to the forefront of the doubts about serious injury to Dak's dad so I will take your word for it that there were more. Not surprised though as it was all very dodgy and completely unnecessary being as Poole on their own track could easily have beaten a Coventry side without Kylmakorpi and Garrity.
  22. He's probably still looking or found the posts and realized he's wrong. I think there was just one person who said there was nothing wrong with Dak's dad and there hadn't been an accident.
  23. Looks like it's Bjarne then as Batchelor has now signed for Kings Lynn.
