Ey up he's back.

When did the word 'Retarded' ever officially get used to describe someone born mentally disabled? I agree with SCB that it's just a derogatory word used for a stupid person. Back in Joseph Merrick's day when he was in the Leicester Hillcrest Workhouse, on the census people were regularly described either as an 'Idiot' or an 'Imbecile'. They sound much more insensitive words to me. Anyway carry on with this lively discussion as I'm not 'discusted' yet.

Why would Lioness ban anyone for anti Kings Lynn comments? She supports Glasgow. Anyway she's not been a mod on here for ages so if you want to say anything rude or offensive carry on.

Mildly Interesting Speedway Trivia...
Gemini replied to YerRopes's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Ah....but do you know where it is? -
Any old field would do as long as the track is decent. Speedway fans aren't that fussy about plush surroundings and an all seater stadium. According to SCB we all pack up our flask, blanket and seat when we go anyway. (He's right.)
-
No it wasn't as it was only Starman. No-one takes any real notice of what he says. I don't know what would be worse ~ tackling the M6 or watching Speedway on Leicester's track.
-
All I can say to that is my husband was there from the beginning, even helping out when the stadium was being built, but he hasn't been at all this season so he's definitely not jumping on any bandwagon and he stuck it out for 3 years before giving up. It's just so sad that after waiting for 28 years for Speedway to return it's the shape of the track that lets it down. Everything else is spot on and they even withdrew their ban on dogs half way through the season ~ something else they've got right. That will get all the 'dogs shouldn't be allowed at Speedway' fans out of the woodwork. Although one will be missing. How is Robert72 these days?
-
It night be Coventry's best bet but it wouldn't be mine, either short or long term as Wolves don't allow dogs and I wouldn't go without my trusty companion. It's beginning to look like Brandon or nothing for me and I won't be the only one either.

Would love to know which referees voted for Leicester. Sounds like they have similar crackpot ideas to some of the promoters.
-
I know you mean Greyhounds but that would be the end of me supporting Coventry after 32 years. In fact it might be the end for me anyway if they locate somewhere to the other side of the city, or Rugby, and it's no longer a quick journey down the M69 for me to get there. Have a look at the photos here...........http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/other-sport/speedway/scott-nicholls-admits-new-national-10570531

I think we need to see Steve Sholvar's clip again. Where are you Steve?
-
Well, ignoring that bit it's obviously perfect....but not as perfect as Wolverhampton and Swindon. I find that bit strange about riders being able to race with 'confidence and close to one another' because whenever I've been it has mostly been strung out racing. Also numerous incidents on the bends as some riders seem to find them difficult to get round due to the shape of the track. But that subject has been done to death so not much point in going on about it as nothing is going to change.

Well there you go then, proof that David Hemsley has been right all along and no way will he ever alter the track now. Bronze for Leicester Track It was announced today that Leicester’s track was assessed as the third best in the 2015 Elite League Track of the Year award behind Wolverhampton and Swindon. The marks are awarded by the Speedway Control Bureau referees who officiate at each meeting and the areas for assessment include track preparation and surface, inner edge, infield, safety fence and airbag panels. “We pride ourselves in creating a race track that is safe for the competitors which allows them to perform to their maximum. Our track curator Glyn Taylor creates a surface that is consistent from the start-line to the finish which means there is no real home advantage as it is fair to both teams and the riders are therefore able to race with confidence and close to one another” explained the Lions Promoter David Hemsley.

There is supposed to be a plot of land being looked at and more news before Christmas but who knows?

Swindon 2016 - A New Era Starts...we Thought..
Gemini replied to dump that clutch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Certain forum members have recently gone very much down in my estimation. It's a wonder they aren't dizzy with all the spinning. On the other hand a post like the one below restores my faith that there are at least some decent Poole fans who can see through the Blue and White mist. Thank you foreverblue. "So Dak was always keen to ride in this country next season as most of us would have thought until P.O.P told us he was not riding here in 2016 and Skidder doing a lot of wriggling. It would appear they dont know as much as they would like us to think! -
Welcome back as reserve Callum Walker.....and the dogs.

Best person to answer this is Speedibee. He loves Australian riders. -
I don't think that's the reason ~ more like they're struggling to find riders themselves. If Leicester was going to drop out they'd have done it before now.

I thought you'd already got him sussed yesterday and put him on ignore? Strangely enough without speaking to Dak directly I was able to look in my crystal ball and predict, as soon as it was posted on here that he would not be returning for the 2016 season but staying home to care for his Dad, that he would actually be back. I think it was all a ploy to remove himself from Poole and Matt Ford's rule bending, which unfortunately involved him this time. He knew all along he'd easily get another E.L. club so as soon as Matt had completed his team he could have a 'change of mind' and make himself available. Very clever thinking. Well done Dak. -
Jason Crump Signed Print For Sale
Gemini replied to Max the rebel's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I like the majority of Jim's paintings but not this one as I'm not keen on the mix of action shot and drawing of Crump together. A good action painting of Jason would have been enough, then a separate portrait if really necessary. I'd skip the portrait altogether actually. -

Gemini replied to dump that clutch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I like to think that he has some integrity after all and was not happy to be used by Matt Ford to bend the rules so chose to go elsewhere next season once he'd made his mind up what he was doing in 2016. -
I've never understood the hatred for this. If it had been one of the English lads helping a fellow rider no one would have complained. For instance if Peter Collins by losing a race could help Chris Morton also qualify then why not? Not doing it would be selfish.

Whereas of course he fully expected to not get any offers and instead be a full time carer for his dad. Yeah right. -

Shame it's not just an action shot. I can't see you selling it but good luck anyway. -
Don't think so, although his acting career didn't last very long. He was the darling of the Cradley Heath fans but he did leave them somewhat in the lurch from what I can remember as he didn't finish the season with them. I'm sure one of those fans will comment later.
