  1. I'd love Speedibee to answer because he's said the same thing on here more than once over the years but never explained how Martin and Linda were 'forced out.' If they were distraught at selling the stadium they would have carried on surely and not put it up for sale? More than likely the money was more tempting when Martin had no interest in Speedway. Over to you Speedibee with your explanation how they were forced out.
  2. Of course that won't help some promotions, like Coventry for example, where the revenue for food/drinks goes to the owner of the stadium. They have, however, introduced changes to admission prices for this year so under 16's are free with students paying just £5.
  3. I was watching too as I go back to 1949 when it was the Hunters but it's not true that it was Coventry promoter Charles Ochiltree on his own who closed the Blackbird Road Stadium down. He was just one of the directors on Midland Sports Stadiums so it really irritates me that someone could still be holding a grudge against Coventry after all these years when the present promotion, or indeed the previous one, had nothing to do with the decision. What makes it even worse in this case is that Dave Burton looks like he is a member of the Leicester staff. Fine example of a Speedway supporter he is.
  4. I just don't get this. How could they have been forced out? It was also common knowledge that Martin didn't have his father's keen interest in Speedway so he and Linda must have put the stadium up for sale in the first place. Mr Sandhu couldn't have bought something that wasn't for sale.
  5. Ah now you mention it that little bit is still open as they return to the pits as I think the high fence is next to the track. No interest to me though, although I've no idea what drifting is. I don't even like individual meetings so I'd only attend league matches.
  6. Good idea but not possible at some tracks due to the fort knox type barriers in place. At Coventry there is approximately a 15 foot high fence to protect everyone from any stray Stock Cars deciding to leave the track.
  7. Happy New Year to Dave Burton too who has taken the time to post this lovely message on the Facebook 'Save Coventry Speedway' page. Hope it's a good one for you if you're on here. Pillock. from a leicester lions fan it will be so so sad when brandon closes not only has it witnessed some diabolical decisions but also we will lose a fantastic team in coventry speedway NOT!!!!! NOW YOU ALL KNOW HOW WE ALL FELT WHEN CHARLES OCHILTREE SOLD LEICESTER LIONS OUT WHAT CAN I SAY EXCEPT WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND KARMA OR WHAT!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL FROM A TEAM ................WITH A TRACK THE LEICESTER LIONS !!!!!
  8. Nice words of support from Leicester Lions fan Dave Burton on the Facebook 'Save Coventry Speedway' page. Pillock. 9. Probably the only alternative night David would be willing to change to would be Friday and I can't see Coventry being happy with that as quite a few fans go to both tracks. Who knows what will happen in 2017 though.
  10. If you delete your account completely you can look at the forum as a guest but can't see the topics in General Discussions and I have an idea The White Knight wouldn't like to miss those. Personally I think it's a daft idea to start a thread saying you are leaving, especially if you aren't. Lots of forum members have left without any dramatic announcement. Just take a break, read the posts and don't respond. Easy enough.
  11. The promoters are probably ganging up together to keep him off permanently because he understands the rules better than some of them do.
  12. Yes. When Mr Sandhu has got his millions from housing he won't be bothered about a couple of sports. Remember he bought the stadium in the first place with the intention of building houses on the land and Speedway owes him nothing the way he was treated when he wanted everything to be fair and above board.
  13. Am I looking at the right race? Red flicked his back wheel out on the back straight and Yellow fell. I haven't named the riders because I didn't have the sound on otherwise the blinking dog wants to watch as well so I don't know which is which.
  14. Red's fault. Terrible rolling start by the rider in White though ~ glad it's not like that these days and the race would have been stopped.
  15. Doubt it once they realize they've got to hand over £17 or £18 to watch fifteen races. Not only that but how many tracks have 3 consecutive meetings? Attend 2 and then find there isn't another for a couple of weeks. Result? Lost interest and can't be bothered. I quite fancy that idea for Coventry's first match against Poole for the Elite Shield or whatever it's called.
  16. Fills arenas indoors not standing/sitting outside in the cold and rain. I don't think Speedway will ever appeal to the masses again no matter what changes are made so unfortunately people will have to put up with us oldies sitting on folding chairs until we're no longer able to get our weary legs to the stadium. We're all doomed.
  17. Unfortunately my dog is always asleep and wouldn't appreciate me waking her up for some inane conversation.
  18. Bet they're not 'cos he's at work so probably has the use of a nice computer. Anyway, as I've said before I think the majority of Shawn's mistakes are purely due to him typing quickly and not bothering to check when he's finished. He's a good speller ~ all the letters are there but not necessarily in the right order.
  19. If I was a regular at Kings Lynn the one thing I would want before any of the above is some sort of screen built so no 'sun breaks' were needed. At the Coventry match it was ten past eight before the riders came out for the first race so we were standing around in the cold waiting for 40 minutes and yes it was cold in spite of the sun as there was a biting wind. Sorry but I couldn't regularly put up with that and it was enough to put me off going again.
