I'm sure Broc Nicol is not feeling quite so jovial as he's in a hospital bed with a broken collar bone, cuts and concussion due to that idiot.
-
Sorry but that is not true. Read False dawn's post for an accurate description. Josh started his 'move' on the back straight and entered the third bend going way too fast. It was obvious there was no way he would get round and he was already out of control. I doubt if Nicol locked up either when he got collected by Josh. Just downright irresponsible riding so harsh or not it's the truth.
-
So the tracks fault then? Yet 8 riders in the two races before had managed 8 laps without any of them picking up 'unexpected drive'.
-
Too true. A few weeks ago he looped at the start of his first race and didn't ride again. That's the sort of thing a junior would do, not an experienced rider. Tonight in his first ride he went way too fast into the 4th bend and no way was he going to get round. Unfortunately for Broc Nicol he took him out as well. Bates needs to seriously consider a career change.
-
You won't.

Thanks Josh Bates for prematurely bringing to an end my 71st year of supporting Speedway ~ Leicester ~ Coventry ~ then Leicester again. I haven't ridden a motorbike for a good number of years but even I knew there was no way you were going to get round the bend with that reckless move and taking down another rider too. Time I reckon to re think your career as you are a liability on a Speedway bike. I left after an hour of waiting for paramedics/county ambulance and a good number of others did as well. I very much doubt if some of them will be back, including me. Sad but that's it now.

Should we scrap Team Speedway?

Yes, go for it. Will make my decision so much easier. -

I'm a bit like Baldyman and never really bothered about the times, unless it's a track record of course, but it's interesting to see how relatively close all the above are. -

Don't think so. I suppose it depends on who is texting from the track and how much detail they go into. http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/18976/ipswich-premiership-17-06-2019 -
Okay I am being hypocritical if you say so but actually I can't be bothered as I know you like long drawn out discussions and I've got a lot more things to worry about than Speedway so I won't be joining in. I posted my thoughts about star riders not necessarily making good racing but I'm not into arguing whether they do or not. I've seen enough meetings over the years to know there were some pretty poor boring matches which had teams full of top riders so I'm quite happy watching a lower standard now. I don't personally miss seeing any of them but others do. I can understand that ~ everyone is different.
-
My point was having so called star riders doesn't necessarily mean good racing and that attendances will rise in the UK like some seem to think they will if they all come flocking back again. But I give in now as I know it's useless trying to get a point across with you so you win, you're right as usual.
-
Well it should be shouldn't it? GP once in 12 months. I'm sure if Belle Vue only rode once a year on a Saturday the place would be packed out.
-
Sorry you are confused hagonshocker. My point being that according to some we need the star riders in the UK to get attendances to rise. Keep diluting the product and more will stay away. However, that was a GP so presumably full of the so called star riders yet it was boring.
-
Boring GP? I thought all that was needed was 'star' riders to make exciting racing and the crowds come flocking back?

Supposed to be riding on Sunday against Berwick?

You might have a bit of a wait because it's not July yet. -

Lofty, Chunk, Gripper, Basher..........Oh the joys of getting old and not understanding what the hell is going on. -
Leicester v Edinburgh 8/6/19
Gemini replied to justathought's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well good luck to all the optimists but I am sticking with my decision I'm afraid. So many aches and pains these days and I have even had to order a 'tilt and lift' recliner now so I can bloody get up. I can't face being out in the damp and cold tonight. Hope it's a good meeting. -

If this rain doesn't stop soon it might be an early morning call off being as it is Edinburgh. Edit.......Being as there is such a lot of interest in this match I will restore my comment from yesterday, which I hid because I didn't want to be pessimistic. However. it's still raining this morning and I can't see this being on. No word yet from the management but even if it's on the racing on the soaked track won't be very good so I have made an early decision myself ~ I am not going. -
How about Monday Monday by the Mamas and Papas. That seems more appropriate for a Speedway race night these days.
-
Strange isn't it? Something so simple that could be done at all tracks ~ well perhaps with the exception of Poole ~ to keep the flow of the meeting going and stop us being bored stiff watching tractors go round.

Peterborough v Kings Lynn Premiership Mon May 27th
Gemini replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I bet the riders love it. We will have to agree to disagree because numerous laps of the tractor going round every couple of heats drives me mad, especially if it's a cold night, so if it's every heat you wouldn't see me again. Afraid Kings Lynn was off my list anyway several years ago after a 40 minute sun break, then another delay while Chris Harris (& another Coventry rider who I have forgotten) were both knocked off by Puk and had to return to the pits to sort their bikes out, followed by an interval after they finally got the race going again.. Why not have the interval while there was a delay? There was a bitterly cold wind in spite of the sun so I was frozen and cheesed off the match was taking so long. Haven't been back since, which is a shame because they allow dogs. -

No thanks. ......and that's probably what makes the racing so exciting to watch. I still think Speedway riders are all crackers though, no matter which part of the track they are on. -

My second visit this season as unfortunately I can't make the midweek ones unless a Bank Holiday. I've always loved Peterborough so even when their fans are saying it wasn't such a good meeting it's a damn sight better than any ones at Leicester. Also reading comments about the Poole and Swindon tracks on the same day I reckon Panthers fans should be pleased they can watch their speedway on a well prepared track. Okay it might not have been at the beginning of the season but it's definitely getting there now so if that's down to Buster then all credit to him.
