  1. Afraid it's not but at least he's giving Coventry a break at the moment.
  2. No standing at the back of the Peterborough grandstand either.....not that I want to but some do and get told to sit down by the steward. I can remember at one time fans could 'high five' the riders over the fence after a race had finished too but not allowed anywhere near now. I have never been one to think everything was better years ago but I'm getting that way now.
  3. I'm wondering if you are right because he seems to be doing okay for Ipswich. His scores for the last five home matches are 11, 9, 18, 12 and 13.
  4. I used to buy chips last year and they were really nice but they don't look the same this year so I haven't bothered. I'm sure they cost £1 more too.
  5. Probably given up now. What could be worse than a track share with Coventry (if this happened he was never going to set foot in the place again) or what has now happened ~ a team full of ex Coventry riders? If that's the case I think they should think again because it actually drives people away altogether in the end rather than to the food outlets etc., especially at Leicester where the prices have gone up a lot this season.
  6. Can't help thinking if this was the Coventry team (well it almost is anyway) riding their fixtures at Leicester as was originally planned, even with the addition of Kenneth Bjerre, I doubt if the fans would have been making the journey over from Coventry, Rugby, Nuneaton, Stratford etc. for very long so probably the best decision was made. Sad though it is that's how things go with Speedway and even some Lions fans will probably be deserting if things don't improve soon.
  7. Personally I'll have to leave all the jumping and leaping around to others because I'm definitely not capable of that any more. As to other noise I'm very tempted to take my hooter with me but unfortunately Lucy wouldn't like it and it would keep her from her usual slumbers so that's out as well.
  8. Doesn't this apply? (Quote from Save Coventry Speedway newspaper article.) The government guidelines are that if a sports stadium is built on then there is an obligation for a new stadium to be part of the planning process and a requirement for the developers to part-fund that stadium.”
  9. Why am I not surprised because it's always raining in Hinckley. Driving down the M69 to Coventry last season there would be black clouds over that place even if it was sunny when I started the journey. Anyway, I live a lot nearer than 12 miles and there was no rain all day apart from a bit of drizzle very early morning. Cold and grey though with always the threat of rain so I decided to stay at home and judging by all the false starts to a number of races I made the right decision. I just can't be doing with all the hanging about in the cold these days. Yes, I'm interested too as it doesn't say on the Updates site.
  10. We've already got loads of them stashed away somewhere that Sandhu took out. As he is willing to put them back again why buy some more? (Yes, I know......and Pigs might fly.)
  11. Have you seen him ride since 'back then'? I'd say his style is still never say die and very erratic. Good signing though and I'm beginning to feel more and more at home at Leicester with all these ex Coventry riders in the team.
  12. Perhaps they were too tight to buy one too as I've never seen one. At one time John was a Reading fan but also went to Oxford and Swindon. Now of course it's just Swindon.
  13. With great difficulty. But now Coventry have closed I'm back at Leicester so my husband goes there and can help. Red and Purple scarf? What happened to Swindon's colours? My friends from Basingstoke must be out of touch with the latest fashion then because they were all wearing Red/White scarves when I was with them on April 1st.
  14. Unfortunately I can never be very incognito as the dog always gives me away.
  15. Incognito. Bra, pants, tights, socks, trousers, two jumpers, cardigan, thick coat, plain scarf, gloves, hat, trainers. Merchandise.......Crisps, Kit-Kat, can of Pepsi Max, blanket for the dog, programme board, pen, poop bags just in case (for the dog not me) chair to sit on, Don't do any chanting as I might wake the dog up.
  16. I don't think there would have been 'decent levels of support' judging by comments by some Bees fans on here and Facebook. Probably only 50% were willing or able to travel to Leicester and that wouldn't have been enough to finance the deal, especially when a sponsor allegedly pulled out causing the BSPA to have doubts Bees would complete the season. Shame though because we might have been able to see a match at Beaumont Park every week instead of the big gaps in fixtures like there usually are every season.
  17. Perhaps because the topic would be more noticed in this section....as proved by the multiple pages so far? Personally I never look in the International section as I'm not interested, or the Years Gone By bit so I would have missed all this fun.
  18. Well, of course I believe that but I hope Barrow Boy 2 is taking note because there are too many people on here who say things that aren't true. They make it appear their comments are fact when they're not.
  19. That can't be right because Barrow Boy says differently and Leicester intended to ride on Fridays. This season Leicester were all set to ride their home matches on Fridays and signed riders whose other commitments did not clash but along comes Mick Horton who convinces the powers that be that Coventry do intend to operate and insisted on keeping Fridays for himself. I'm saying nothing.
  20. Is this fact or just what you are assuming? Can't really blame Mick for trying to keep Coventry running but in hindsight it was never going to work riding Bees matches at Leicester. Personally I can't see a great deal wrong with riding on Saturday's. If it was changed to Friday's the missing riders would no doubt still find some excuse not to be there ~ have to be at the practice, no flights over, have 24 hour flu, broken a finger nail.
  21. Sadly that was very true for Coventry N.L. matches, especially the last two seasons when I should think the attendance was less than 300. Hopefully next Saturday there will be a lot of visiting Bees fans ~ I know many of my friends are intending to go. Not sure what riders will be in the team though being as half of the original ones are now riding for the Lions.
  22. Me too. I have pretty much zero interest in individual racing, including the G.P's. It's got to be team events for me even if I'm watching as a neutral.
  23. That's bad. I'd say the normal attendance is around the 1200/1500 mark but then it wasn't a 'proper' Lions Premiership match. I didn't go either.
