  1. I didn't hear anyone cheer when Rory fell but agree about playing the 'Wipeout' tune immediately the other riders crossed the line. Mind you as Crump99 has said the man playing the music probably didn't even see Rory had fallen. After attending all the Sunday meetings so far this season I'd say the Panthers fans are very fair and applaud the visiting riders as well as their own so I doubt if anyone would cheer, especially knowing the injuries Rory had last season. It's nice to be amongst such friendly fans. Afraid I couldn't be doing with Polish style aggro.
  2. Okay thanks. Got to be big enough to hold two blankets for the dogs to lie on, sandwiches, crisps, biscuits, drinks, water/dish for the dogs, money, programme boards, pens, biscuits for the dogs otherwise they just stare at me eating and make me feel guilty. I think that's it .
  3. Perhaps they've got a load of 1p coins they want to get rid of? Shops usually charge £9.99p or £19.99p etc. because it makes us gulible customers think something is cheaper as £9.99 sounds better than £10. Anyway is Leicester still running? Seems ages since there was a match and unfortunately I've got to miss this one as we'll be on holiday.
  4. All up there now. Don't know how they are lining up but it's............ IPSWICH: Nathan Greaves, Cameron Heeps, Danny King, Connor Mountain, Kyle Newman, Rory Schlein, Justin Sedgmen.
  5. Chris has lived in Coventry for years and it's not that far away from Kings Lynn. Still time for him to ride for the Stars before he retires.
  6. Why not? Nice close up view of the racing or if a rider falls and you want to see whether they are okay. I would if I had room in my bag.
  7. Certainly is, which is why I make the uncomfortable journey over there on Sunday's.
  8. What a good idea as the 'bloody huge board' could probably act as a sun blocker too to avoid delays waiting for the sun to go down.
  9. No idea but the Championship match Peterborough v Glasgow last Sunday was quite a novelty as both teams had their full 1 - 7 with no guests and no rider replacements.
  10. Judging by comments though by people who were actually there or watching on TV (and weren't biased), the 'racing' at Poole would hardly encourage any new fans to return for the next match and pay the full price so no real point in letting everyone in free.
  11. That probably explains why I didn't bump into you. Mind you knowing how I am at remembering faces I'd no doubt walked by you anyway. I don't go on Friday's but understand the attendance was poor then so it's got to have been a lot better. I'd say a good crowd today but not as big as last Sunday. Loads of dogs too ~ Peterborough must hold the record for having the most 4 legged friends there. All perfectly behaved as well, especially my two who just lay down and went to sleep for the whole match as usual. It was nice to be complimented by the people behind us for having such good dogs. Well done to the Panthers. I'm still learning about Championship teams but reading comments on here I was fully expecting Glasgow to beat them easily so that score came as something of a surprise.
  12. Lol. I'd be quite prepared to show up to date vaccination records and my 2 are probably as healthy as some of those Greyhounds. Don't know the real reason but seems par for the course at dog racing tracks, Coventry being an exception thank goodness.....although that sadly doesn't matter now.
  13. Ah thanks ~ I thought it was strange no-one was there. Not been to Sheffield for years as dogs aren't allowed.
  14. Yes, you are right. Courtesy of the Speedway Updates site. Heat 11: Nilsson,Bjerre,Grajczonek,Allen...59.60. (1-5). 44-23. Line Up: Grajczonek , Allen , Nilsson , Bjerre Comments: Rebels duo give Leicester pair a head start out of the tapes and the Lions take adantage of into record a 5-1.
  15. Is the back straight blocked off as there doesn't seem to be anyone there? I suppose like most tracks the majority of fans are on the home straight or first bend.
  16. Surely the low crowd is more to do with having matches within 2 days of each other? I would never make the journey over from Leicester on a Friday but I'll be there on Sunday, same as last week, and that's probably what a lot of fans who don't live in the Peterborough area will do. Hopefully not so hot this week please.
  17. Add to that blinking sun breaks and before anyone says they are necessary there was no such thing years ago so why is the sun so different now? Even though Kings Lynn is attractive to me because dogs are allowed I would never go back there again after the long drawn out meeting I last attended, which included a 40 minute 'sun break.' Leicester is on very dodgy ground too at the moment after hanging around for an hour for the sun to go down last week. Afraid I won't be doing that again and have now got to the stage where my interest is rapidly fading.
  18. I know this has nothing to do with Speedway but why the hell would it do that? I'm all for improvements in technology and marvel at some of the things today but I wouldn't like things predicting what I'm saying and completely changing a word. I don't understand the need for this.
  19. You do realise dogs aren't allowed so no Lenny and probably no Fliss either.
  20. Going to this match with the boring one hour long 'sun break' delay almost put me off going to Peterborough today but in the end I decided to go and thank goodness I did because it renewed my flagging interest in Speedway. What brilliant racing it always is at the Showground, plus good presentation and great music. Really enjoyed it and the match was all done and dusted within just one and a half hours, which included watering and track grading. This was followed by several heats of 'junior' racing and that's how it should be. A 15 heat match that doesn't take over 3 hours to complete and a second half with the youngsters. I just wish Peterborough was a bit nearer.
  21. Good because 5pm suits me just fine and that's where I will be next Sunday.
  22. I don't know whether it's the shape or the track material but Peterborough wins hands down. Never been to a poor meeting there.
  23. Hope you enjoyed it. I suppose some Panthers fans will be disappointed in the result but as a sort of neutral (I did want Peterborough to win) I thought it was a brilliant match and that's all that matters to me. I don't think some of you fans appreciate what a great racing track you have and I wish it was just up the road to me instead of the rubbish Leicester one. Very impressed with the speed the match was run through too ~ all over within an hour and a half and that included the grading and watering. I needed that to renew my love of Speedway after spending an hour the previous evening bored stiff waiting for the sun to go down at Beaumont Park. Racing looked great to me and certainly not a 'one line gating competition.' Really enjoyed it.
  24. Well, you were right about that but no interval thank goodness or there would have been a lot of people facing an £85 fine for being over 4 hours in the car park. So for future visits I've now got to consider not going when it's sunny unless I want to stand around for an hour doing nothing, obviously not going when it's raining and probably not going when it looks like raining so it doesn't really leave many options. No good thanking me for my patience because I wasn't ~ I was actually really cheesed off and I'm sure I wasn't the only one. Speedway really does shoot itself in the foot time and time again. Good crowd tonight but I wonder how many will be encouraged to return. With grateful thanks to False dawn for his company and relieving the boredom.
  25. I'm quite surprised anything on my programme was correct as you probably know.
