  1. I've had this discussion on Facebook and apart from the abuse that you get on there the answer is apparently due to the bikes being faster and unpredictable, plus years ago riders used to wear peaked helmets and tinted goggles. So that is apparently the answer and we've got to put up with it and stand around waiting for the sun to go down like it or not. By the way thank you Jonny the spud for a nice polite answer.
  2. Afraid I can't take credit for any of that as I was just repeating what was said on the link for those who don't do Twitter. I don't either but I must have joined years ago then realised it was rubbish.
  3. Unfortunately that just about sums up Speedway this season. I'm about the same as you, although a lot earlier at Blackbird Road and Long Eaton, then Coventry when Leicester closed in 1983. I haven't actually given up yet and still go to the Lions matches but sun delays drive me mad, along with constant re-starts. Every race up to heat 5 last week was re-run.
  4. Try 6 months instead of 12. Speedway should survive the Winter.
  5. Seems to be the norm these days. The first four races at Leicester last week were pulled back and re-run.
  6. Sounds like the same scenario that happened back in 2010 when Matt Ford and his fans thought all they had to do was turn up and it was a formality. I know you're only on a wind up but your post did give me a good laugh. Humility in defeat? Grace in victory? Celebrations?
  7. Make that two of us then because I don't mind it either and actually prefer it to the TS now it can only be used once. It also makes things more interesting wondering when or if a team mate is going to let his 'other half' through so he gets the double points. Seems someone hadn't told KK this week. I think riders can get completely off the bike as long as they are hanging onto the handlebars.
  8. Where are SCB or ArnieG when you need them?
  9. .........................................This is what the link said for those who don't do Twitter.
  10. If you read any of his posts the first word is always in capital letters. Just a bit confusing this time perhaps because there's only one word.
  11. This will be followed by the British Youth Championship that was previously abandoned so what is going to happen about parking being as there is a 4 hour limit? Presumably the admission will be higher to cover both meetings but fans might not be able to watch much of the second one.
  12. I agree with ch958 and don't think it is due to the weakening of the teams and lack of the so called star riders. What is losing fans is getting continually cheesed off with only having a few of your own team because two of them are riding for another club, made up with anyone who happens to be available plus rider replacement. That and going weeks without a match then the promoters suddenly waking up and realising they have umpteen of them to fit in by early September.
  13. It might sound good but the reality might change your mind after standing around for hours in the cold with track grading every 4 heats. You could of course take a garden seat, have a flask of coffee, packet of crisps and a few cucumber sandwiches to complete the picture of a typical Speedway fan.
  14. I have as well and I've got something to play them on. Remember the Walkman?
  15. .....I wait with bated breath to see if you get an answer.
  16. With a bit of luck the idea of promotion/relegation play offs might just be quietly forgotten as it's a stupid idea anyway which hasn't worked in the past when it was tried and won't work now. If Leicester have any sense they will want to drop down a division in 2018, (unless it's one big league), and carry on with Saturday night racing. I doubt if Sheffield want to be in the Premiership so it's going to be interesting watching both teams attempting to lose. Better tell the guests in advance what the plan is.
  17. One would hope so but who knows what will happen next season. We may be in different leagues. Just wanted to add I'm very impressed with the announcer at Beaumont Park ~ Tom Sensicall. Nice clear voice, very rarely makes a mistake and explains what is happening when there is a delay of any sort. Well done Tom.
  18. Daft idea if the aim is for Clean Cut Sports to sell DVD's. Surely it would be better to show one of the more exciting races to encourage fans to buy them. Showing that race is hardly going to boost sales, but should do okay with Belle Vue fans.
  19. You got me worried then as I always like to go to the Sunday meetings at Peterborough.
  20. I can't see that far. I'll take your word for it though. Watching them negotiate bend 4 is bad enough.
  21. Certainly have but I wish Scott Nicholls wouldn't ride quite so wide on bend 3/4.
