  1. I think most people know anyway and Jeff has given the first name, but what good would it do apart from moving in next door and being a bad neighbour. However, judging by previous comments that's covered already.
  2. Disappointing not to have any team news yet, especially when the Coventry team looks pretty strong. Hope this isn't going to fizzle out again.
  3. That's what I thought too but it doesn't stop the mechanics from coming onto the track. Good referees stick the 2 minutes on immediately so there's not much of a delay but unfortunately there aren't that many good referees.
  4. Sure is. I just wish there were more options than just the 'Like' icon. A few others would enable us to show our appreciation, or otherwise, of a post as per Facebook. Mind you they are missing a few that I'd like to use sometimes as well.
  5. Blimey that Coventry team looks pretty strong so hopefully Lions will get a good guest for the missing Pole. Incidentally it looks at the moment as if there is no extra charge for the British Youth Championship that follows this match which is just as well because there may be problems with the 4 hour limit in the car park.
  6. Now I've found the article I can tell you that the original plan for the development was going to cost £2.5 million but that included things that have never happened. BMX track, cycle speedway track, mountain bike trail, 12 five-a-side football pitches etc., so I don't really know how much just building the speedway track/stadium cost but must have been at least half of that amount I should think, especially as a lot of the work was done by volunteers. As to the club house ~ there is one with a bar in the car park but I've never been so don't know how big it is inside.
  7. Yes it certainly would be but I'm sure the Poole promotion and fans will accept it just as graciously as they did in 2010.
  8. Nigel's ashes were in a container and buried at the starting gate so I should think they will be removed if they haven't already.
  9. Unfortunately I agree and am now resigned to there being no future for the Bees but hoping to be proved wrong.
  10. Interesting. Has local lad David ever rode at the new track? Perhaps when Lions were in the lower division. I was hoping at some point in his career David would be a Lion but I suppose there's still time now he has come out of retirement. Wouldn't be much travelling expenses to pay.
  11. Does Rory Schlein fit? He seems to be very popular at the moment.
  12. I've had this discussion on Facebook and apart from the abuse that you get on there the answer is apparently due to the bikes being faster and unpredictable, plus years ago riders used to wear peaked helmets and tinted goggles. So that is apparently the answer and we've got to put up with it and stand around waiting for the sun to go down like it or not. By the way thank you Jonny the spud for a nice polite answer.
  13. Afraid I can't take credit for any of that as I was just repeating what was said on the link for those who don't do Twitter. I don't either but I must have joined years ago then realised it was rubbish.
  14. Unfortunately that just about sums up Speedway this season. I'm about the same as you, although a lot earlier at Blackbird Road and Long Eaton, then Coventry when Leicester closed in 1983. I haven't actually given up yet and still go to the Lions matches but sun delays drive me mad, along with constant re-starts. Every race up to heat 5 last week was re-run.
  15. Try 6 months instead of 12. Speedway should survive the Winter.
  16. Seems to be the norm these days. The first four races at Leicester last week were pulled back and re-run.
  17. Sounds like the same scenario that happened back in 2010 when Matt Ford and his fans thought all they had to do was turn up and it was a formality. I know you're only on a wind up but your post did give me a good laugh. Humility in defeat? Grace in victory? Celebrations?
  18. Make that two of us then because I don't mind it either and actually prefer it to the TS now it can only be used once. It also makes things more interesting wondering when or if a team mate is going to let his 'other half' through so he gets the double points. Seems someone hadn't told KK this week. I think riders can get completely off the bike as long as they are hanging onto the handlebars.
  19. Where are SCB or ArnieG when you need them?
  20. .........................................This is what the link said for those who don't do Twitter.
