  1. That just about sums it up. Looking good isn't it?
  2. Makes you wonder if the bikes were more reliable in those days? I'm sure if a rider turned up with only one bike now it would be deemed very unprofessional.
  3. Oy Shoddy! Leave Dogs out of it. They are much too intelligent and lovely animals to be mentioned in that sentence. I agree with the rest of it though.
  4. But it was rumoured Lee Richardson was leaving Coventry anyway, Mark Loram off to pastures new, also Leigh Adams to Swindon so surely the riders would have been spread around anyway?
  5. What - students? They make that much of a racket themselves I shouldn't think they would ever hear the Speedway, so no problems there.
  6. You didn't manage it last time! Ah! But don't forget there was unfortunately row 13 between the two groups so I couldn't quite reach to bash anyone who was misbehaving. Now Fd has got the two rows together I will be ready and waiting.
  7. That's seven. 21 to go...... Perhaps we can have a row of 14 "quieter" ones behind a row of the more exuberant members so we can keep them in order this time.
  8. How do you work that out Phil? According to Bees Man on another thread, Coventry will probably have to let two of their top three go. Might as well ride in the Premier League.
  9. Hopefully not Steve, or you will have Shazzybird after you again......
  10. Do you know which one did the fencing? All I can remember is a Nicki Pederson type pass on the previous bend which the rider took exception to so he went after him on the next bend. A bad case of the red mist descending and an utterly stupid thing to do.
  11. Films? By the way - I hope Steve Hone is banned from saying anything. I have some great memories of Bruce's riding and it was such a shame when he packed in at the height of his career. Have you looked at my webshots album as there are some black/white action photos of him on there.
  12. More than that as your two children have dropped out haven't they? So that makes at least ten newbies. Hope we can have adjorning seats again Joanne as I can understand what you are saying a lot better now so won't be looking so blankly at you every time you speak.
  13. Sounds just like the Coventry team for 2004, if there is no change. We should be okay then.
  14. Thanks Jez. That probably ties in with the little inkling at the back of my mind about Martin Ashby or Marvin Cox. Yes, I know it's hard to understand but it's the "M" you see.
  15. Thanks Grachan - yes it is Bobby Ott. Great style. I used to really enjoy watching him - and Cowboy John Cook. Guess I'm wrong about Martin Ashby. How about Marvin Cox?
  16. I don't think Robbo wants any Fd. That's what I understand from his posting....Robbo 0. Shawns staying at home lol. He said earlier he only wanted a ticket if Shawn was going.
  17. Gee thanks WATigerman. On we go then..... FS..Thanks for your reply. We thought it was Gary Havelock in Red. Any idea who the other rider is with the very distinctive style? (I know.) You are right about No 21 - Chris Manchester. Are you definite about Joe Screen (20) and Dean Barker (23)? If so I can add the photos to my scrapbook. For some reason I've got Martin Ashby in my mind as one of them, but that means nothing really. Where's Steve Hone? He is the expert of riders leathers.
  18. Mine? Yes it's brilliant isn't it?
  19. Hope you don't mind if I highjack this thread, but I don't want to start a new one in the interests of bandwidth. Can anyone name the riders in the six photos I've added to my 4th webshots album please? I am particularly interested in photos 19 (rider in red), 20, and 23 because I don't know who they are.
  20. Good grief! Knowing how unpredictable Jensen was at Leicester, I bet he didn't score at all in his next match. You've lost me on that one. Have you got any more info. about him? By the way, welcome to the forum. As you have just found out we are full of "constructive" comments on here.
  21. CVS has been running a Wolves Conference League team this year at Monmore Green on Tuesday evenings, but I don't think it has been very successful because he is not doing it next year. I see you are from Stafford which I am very familiar with as my Mum and Dad came from there and we still have relatives in the town. So what are you doing converting to a Wolf when it must be nearer to go to Stoke?
  22. Ah! I am feeling better already. The only races that stick in my memory from Blackbird Road were when Mike Lanham and Colin Cook had terrible accidents after getting hooked up on the wire safety fence. Colin Cook beating Ole Olsen from the back to save the match for the Lions. That was brilliant! Also Mark Courtney dragging his foot through a big puddle on each lap to splash Olsen, but I'm getting help with my memory for these two because I have them on video. From Hyde Road, Belle Vue, another awful crash involving Mick McKeon and Mike Lohmann which was a deliberate attempt to fence one of the riders following an incident on the previous bend. Can't remember who started it and did the retaliating, but they both ended up in hospital. :-(
  23. Unfortunately no. I do hope you have copied this from somewhere and you haven't remembered it all because I get really depressed when people can recall specific matches and races. I can remember sod all about Speedway years ago although I have been going since 1949. :-(
  24. What makes you think we are loud supporters? Good as gold, quiet as little mice, that's us. Well, with one or two exceptions. Welcome to the group. Best send Fd an email to confirm.
