I've changed that one now as I hadn't realised Cooky had his name on the fork cover. So come on clever clogs who is the new No 6? Thanks! I'd only got as far as Peter Collins, Andy Smith and Chris Morton. I'd had a guess at the last rider being Eric Broadbelt so I'll change it to Andy Campbell now. Correct Steve, which confirms the photos were taken at Long Eaton and not Birmingham so I've won that little disagreement with the other half. Must give credit for these to my husband because I was always too scared to take photos when it said in the programme photography was not allowed. It could be but it's not.

As my husband is about as senile as me he can't remember which track it was. He is inclining towards Birmingham, but the centre green looks a bit scruffy with all the old tyres so perhaps it's Long Eaton? The date is May 1990 and he also took a photo of Colin Cook so like you say it must have been some sort of special meeting reuniting the Leicester Lions. Steve.....No 3 - Jan Andersen. I have not got this rider, but as you are usually spot on because of recognising the leathers I might be inclined to agree if you can convince me.
-
Have now made another album of Speedway photos since I got a bit worried and took all the black/white Mike Patrick ones off after the quiz guessing the riders. I've not named anyone, but they should be pretty easy to guess, with perhaps a couple of exceptions.
-
Okay, fair enough. It's just that I can remember him riding very well which makes it a bit more personal and I thought you were perhaps a youngster wanting to know all the gory details. Sorry. I can see now that you were genuinely interested.
-
Hullangel....This is all getting a bit morbid don't you think? Why do you want to know all the details?

Is there one operating? We were up at the park'n'ride because we were in our camper van and that was the only place we could find to park in 2001. Certainly no buses were running and it was a long walk. Pawprint spent the evening in the van but we have now found a lovely hotel where she is allowed to stay in the room whilst the GP is on.
-
Oh she is, but unfortunately she also does a lot of "jumping up and down excitedly" so I don't know how much sleep Addy would have had.
-
One more for the book. Sounds very cosy.
-
...And a long way to stagger back after the G.P. A couple of years ago we had to walk back to the Park 'n Ride place, which was probably just over a mile and that was far enough - fully sober too.

Cardiff Date.slip Up Or What?
Gemini replied to iris123's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Doesn't really make any difference as Speedway rarely gets much of a mention anyway. Since the GP has been held in Cardiff it has always been the second Saturday in June to work around all the other things at the stadium. -
Which is? LORam or LorAM? Just so I know for future reference.
-
So all out of doors then? Presumably a nice well behaved dog would be allowed?
-
Wow! Thanks for passing that information on Jim. I feel a visit to relatives in Stafford coming on that Saturday, followed by a trip to Loomer Road. Any idea where it will be held please?
-
And a nice fourth place for Morten Risager. Radik Smolinski....Who is he?
-
Oh No! Please don't start another topic about handlebars or we'll get into all sorts of trouble again. ..
-
Such great fun when that happens isn't it? I went to a match at Long Eaton where Middlesborough were unhappy with the track so refused to ride. Long Eaton then went on to score 5-0 in all the races.
-
Aye...Point taken, but no cheating allowed as the topic says riders 1-7. That was certainly some team in 1983 though and makes me realise all the more how poor the quality of the EL will be next season. Where do you watch your Speedway now Mark? Have many happy memories of Cradley Heath, when we could find the damn place that is.
-
How did I manage to miss him out? Now corrected.
-
Being as you've got one more rider than everyone else I guess it would. My team would be - 1]Simon Wigg 2]Bruce Penhall 3]Jan O Pedersen 4]Erik Gundersen 5]Greg Hancock 6]Phil Collins 7]Billy Hamill

Cardiff 2004 - Block Booking
Gemini replied to False dawn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thank you for sorting all this out Fd. -
Or Coventry. David Norris wouldn't last long. He'd be all packed up and pushing his pram home after his first ride.
-
I think you might be right there Shalewhale. According to the Speedway Star, Peterborough are struggling to put a team together. Mick Horton quote..... "I want to run in the Elite League but certain things will have to happen on Monday. We need protection over Kenneth Bjerre and we will also need some leeway over top-end riders."
-
Brilliant Grachan. Thanks. I will soon have to get a new computer with more memory at this rate.
-
And I would say fine as well, as long as Coventry have got two 8+ riders too. I can't see anything wrong in teams having two riders from groups A and B if there are enough to go round. See....we are agreeing again. I think we were all prepared to lose one top rider to another team anyway so that's no big deal. I just think it is ridiculous to bring on a rider like BJ, but as soon as he improves to heat leader status we have to let him go. By the way, I'm not desperate for Bees to win anything as I don't take Speedway seriously. I think CVS has summed the situation up perfectly by his remarks in this week's Speedway Star......"The traditional Speedway fan hates change, but we have to think of the new audience, the TV audience." So there we have it - Speedway the new "It's a Knockout." And you would know this is Colin Pratt I presume?
-
Lupus...Why don't you give it a rest now about Colin Pratt and your fixation with Coventry. He wasn't the one who held the others to ransom in Tenerife. If the promoter's are having second thoughts about the new rules they are introducing then perhaps at long last they are taking notice of what the fans have been saying.
