Italian Grand Prix - Lonigo
Gemini replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It would be really nice for Scott Nicholls to get a G.P. win under his belt, but he's had 3 or 4 bad falls recently so I wonder how fit he will be. Just stay safe Scott. Coventry need you on Monday! -
Italian Gp Not On Sky Tonight?
Gemini replied to davidba's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Are you on NTL? We get Sky Sports Xtra included in the sports package now - on number 970. Try that to see if you can get it. -
That really is an amazing record. I doubt if it would ever happen over here as riders seem to swop and change clubs on a regular basis. Mateusz. Thanks for the translation.

British Speedway Gp 2006
Gemini replied to SpeedwayTShirts's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Always on the cards I suppose, but I hope not as the second Saturday in June has so far been lovely weather and nice for all those who like to sit outside the various pubs enjoying the sunshine. -
Someone needs to please! I'm glad to hear the lad is back in training (well I'm not really as I think he should pack speedway in as it's too dangerous.) I think those photos brought it home to me just how horrific speedway crashes can be - probably because over here we don't get shown close ups of an injured rider. I thought about him for ages afterwards and hoped he was recovering okay. Glad to hear that's the case. That's a blast from the past Tommy as he rode for us (Leicester) in the 70's. He must be even older than Sam Ermolenko.

True! I know I would hate it as I prefer the good old-fashioned British way. I can't see our health & safety regulations allowing all those flares for a start. We get frisked at Coventry to see what we're taking into the stadium now and it's only a couple of packets of crisps and a flask of coffee.

Great photos Lawrence. Why don't you enter the forum photographic competition? Jim Blanchard is looking for more entries and it looks like you have plenty of photos to choose from. I particularly liked that one of the sunset behind the spotlight. Very artistic.

Looks more like a war zone than a speedway meeting Mateusz. Not something I would like personally, but each to their own as they say. Wouldn't be able to take my two dogs to any matches in Poland obviously. They would be terrified. ... Any news of that young lad who went over the fence during one of the matches a few weeks ago, when some pictures were put on here? I hope he has now fully recovered.

British Speedway Gp 2006
Gemini replied to SpeedwayTShirts's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
In the case of Cardiff I'm afraid it doesn't. Their tickets were on sale last August for the 2005 G.P. I know because I bought mine then. Hoping it is June 10th because like a lot of people I've already booked the same hotel for that weekend. -
I think Ross is only young so I doubt if he will have heard of any of the riders you mention. Just a shame I remember all of them. Incidentally Jack Winstanley was at a recent Leicester reunion and was the oldest rider there. I hope he manages to come down again on September 20th for the next one when John Boulger will be the star guest.

The Leicester rider in white looks like Steve Regeling, but of course I could be totally wrong as usual.

Thanks for the updates. We had to leave before the end as we had to pick up my daughter's dog who we are looking after for the weekend. I was hoping to be able to watch all of the junior racing but it got too late, following the long drawn out match between Bees & Wolves, then several falls in the Academy match delaying things even further. Hope none of the riders were injured.

Polish Grand Prix - Bydgoszcz
Gemini replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sad isn't it? He has always looked really nice but has decided to go down the road of highlights and spikey hair. Not that I notice these things....but....Gary Havelock seems to be having a mid-life crisis as well. Hope Rabbit doesn't see that comment. -

Just wanted to say commiserations to the poor Hedgehog that was run over before the meeting so that Sam Ermolenko could wear it on his head. Very bad taste Sam. -

She sure will. Just say the word and I'll pack her bags. Don't suppose you could manage two of them could you? Is the bag big enough? -
Not having any luck Tommy? I've got some photos on my webshots albums - the speedway ones. Don't suppose they are any good for you but you could have a look. http://community.webshots.com/user/hambolwen

Television Commentaries And Interviews
Gemini replied to Vintageman's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
We might disagree on who is the best presenter, Sophie Blake or Julia Bradbury, but that I do agree with. -

At last someone who appreciates a good presenter when they see one rather than just being influenced by a model type figure and pretty face. Julia Bradbury was best of the lot. Just a pity she was only mostly seen on the channel four highlights show. -
Ah...but that would make it possible to scan the picture and then print off your own photo. Can't be having that.

Not this one is it? http://community.webshots.com/photo/246145...15100466dNosAM#

.... Hope it's not going to kick off while I'm on holiday so I miss it. .....
-
Maybe, but it would be a shame if it was at the expense of another track shutting.
-
I hope this isn't going to go the same way as Handlebars parts one and two? Where have you been Sandman? Got caught up in a storm somewhere? I was really worried - not about you but the assorted pets you have on board.
-
I think Long Eaton have had a few name changes - another one was The Invaders. Incidentally I was talking to someone at the Leicester reunion on Tuesday and he seemed to think it is all systems go at Station Road, but as we have heard that before I guess we'll just have to wait and see what develops this time - if anything.

Czech Grand Prix - Prague
Gemini replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It might already be a foregone conclusion that TR will be this year's G.P. champion, but I still don't find it boring. If anything had happened to him in the last two G.P's we'd all be moaning about it being a fix so the result was in doubt until the final one. At least everything is above board and I for one still enjoy watching Tony race. It will be interesting to see who comes 2nd and 3rd and which riders are in the final 8 who qualify for 2006. It's still speedway - how can it be boring?
