Brandon Stadium
Gemini replied to David_Furniture's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If you are trying to impress still then I would suggest taking her in the grandstand so she can sit down. It's going to be a long night. Plenty of terracing at Brandon although the 1st/2nd bends do get packed out and it might be a bit more difficult to see unless she is tall, or go right to the front like Sandie who is vertically challenged. (Sorry Sandie!) There is also covered terracing on the back straight and if you are early enough you could lay claim to one of the picnic tables. Not so many people usually on the 3rd/4th bends (where I always go) but you need to be on the top half of the terracing unless you want to just watch the 4 helmets go by. -

I think I must be like a 4 year old as well 'cos I never even heard any "offensive" words. I presume it must be a more recent song because I've lost track of the Top Twenty these days. How about telling me exactly when it was played so I can listen out for it on my recording and be offended. -

Damn good idea.....so it will never catch on. -
Perhaps the other two reasons will have more substance. Easy way to get round the noise of airhorns is to use ear plugs so that's not a problem. Personally I love all the noise and airhorns are what generate all the atmosphere at Cardiff.

That's just reminded me I met Reckless Eric as well at The Prince of Wales. Who the hell is he? -

Good grief Colin. I worked that out ages ago. People get banned and come back later under a different name but the style of posting never changes so they are easy to spot. Now I wonder who Sandman used to be? -

Have they ever played at Cardiff? Probably don't know any different. Anyway it's pointless discussing a return to Wembley 'cos it will never happen.....and if it did I wouldn't go. Now you were talking sense up until including Tomasz in that statement. Unless things are going his way (like at the last G.P. when he was brilliant) he just gives up and that's not what speedway is about. If he is not up there with the leaders he just trails round at the back and often doesn't even bother to complete the race. He has always been like that and there was another example of his attitude when things don't suit him at Cardiff last night. -

Damn well hope not! Wembley is in the past - nice memories and all that but you'd never get 40,000 plus fans to go there like you do to Cardiff with all the shops, pubs, sight-seeing etc. What is at Wembley, apart from the stadium? Might as well return to Coventry and get 8,000 fans again. -

I'm being lazy as I am still tired from yesterday's 3.30am return from Cardiff (not caught up with my sleep yet) so I will just repeat the post from Lioness, which covers what I would say. Brilliant choice of music Superbart. The only thing missing was "Hey Baby." Perhaps in 2009 you could fit that one in somewhere as well? Best presentation/music yet and you deserve to be back. -

Sorry I've got a bit confused here. Are we still talking about Nicki Pedersen or something else? You should have reported him to the stewards Shortoi. It spoils it when you have someone like that sitting next to you. I must admit when in the city centre earlier on I was hoping I didn't end up sitting anywhere near some of the fans I saw. It was great to meet Seb the Snail, Rob Peasley & Badge for the first time at The Prince of Wales. Also Rico (not for the 1st time apparently) Joanne, KevH, Matt Davis, Nevs, London Witch, Sandie, Nickie, SCB, Reckless Eric, Silver Bee, Shazzybird (loved what she was drinking after she gave me a sip and I might get hooked on that.) Apologies if I've missed anyone. Thoroughly enjoyed the G.P. It had everything - good racing, controversy, great music, incidents, sadness, strange decisions. I won't expand any further because everything has been covered already. Best man on the night won. WELL DONE JASON. -
Oh yes. I've found a little flame sign on mine. Bah!! That will really spoil the atmosphere and as so many fans are either on their way or already in Cardiff they won't find out until they try to get in tomorrow. Spoil sports! I've never known air horns to be a problem - apart from when Adam Skornicki tried to set fire to his a few years ago.
-
Now there's a surprise. How can you tell the difference anyway whether the air horn is flammable or non-flammable? It looks like mine is made in Italy so I can't understand a word it says. I'm not really bothered though because I'm not taking it with me.

Mmmm....Strange colours. Thank you for the link but I think I'll stick with the one I've got which is the Rune Holta one. So that's Pedersen 0 - Holta 2. -

Have you never taken her to Cardiff, Steve? I would have thought she would enjoy the British G.P. regardless of whether she hates speedway or not. -
Yes, but thankfully obviously not well enough to do a strip like he normally does at testimonials. One more thing I must mention Superbart and his return to Brandon. Great music which really showed what we have been missing this season. Wish he could come back to liven things up again. Also it was nice to hear the mellow tones of David Hammond on the mike again. Yes I missed him off my list....and Mike Broadbank, Amando Castagna, Stuart Robson, Joe Screen & Jim McMillan. Great turnout for Steve.

Had a brilliant time but just wish I had brought a tent to sit in to get out of the awful wind! It took me half an hour to untangle my hair tonight and although I can't afford to lose much hair, because it's so fine, I reckon I must have lost a whole months worth in one go. Still not as much as Bryn though. One good thing we were lucky with the dust on the 4th bend as it wasn't being blown in our direction but I think the management are going to need a few lorry loads of shale to replace all that was blown away. I must say I have never seen a blue groove at Coventry but there was definitely a great big one on the 3rd bend today. Enjoyed the auction in the downstairs bar afterwards and "people watching." As well as the programmed riders and Lol Hare, I also spotted Sean Wilson, Garry Stead, Neil Middleditch, Tai Woofenden, Alun Rossiter, Scott Nicholls with his daughter, Jeremy Doncaster, Billy Janniro, Shane Parker, Bruce Cribb, Sam Ermolenko and there were no doubt others who I didn't recognise. Bryn being shaved was funny but I actually felt a bit sorry for him (only a bit!) because it was being done with a razor & foam rather than an electric shaver so it took ages to do. Sandie, Billy & Nikki all seemed to end up covered in more foam than Bryn. Strange. It was good to meet Ozyace for the first time and also have a chat with my forum favourites Addy and Liontamer again. All in all a great day out and I hope Johno gets loads and loads of money.
