Midland Development League Agm 2012
Gemini replied to SarahLapworth's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
I think promotions/referees are finally getting the message that fans hate long delays between heats, especially when riders return to the pits after travelling about 20 yards after a false start. I don't know about other tracks but the last few meetings at Coventry have been a lot quicker and I understand those at Leicester were speeded up as well, with far less grading of the track than there used to be. Can't say I would be in favour of holding junior racing between E.L. heats though because it would disrupt the flow of the match. There is also the added possibility of the air fence being damaged, or heaven forbid a young rider having a crash and delaying the main meeting even further. It's just a sad fact that the majority of fans are not that interested in watching the youngsters. -

Blimey! At a time when we're all cheesed off at the delays between races and that things should be speeded up you say that. -
I'd rather have a rider in the team who scores 1-1-1-1 than those like Finn Jensen who win one heat then come last in the next. Definitely wasn't one of my favourite when he rode for Leicester.

Blimey! I hope you're not riding in all 3 matches? You'll be worn out poor lad. -
Has Scotland had 82 years more rain than the rest of the U.K? It has been the wettest Summer in England for 100 years - since 1912 in fact. So I presume you're going back to the early 1800's? Remind me never to have a holiday in Scotland.

I suppose someone must be desperate enough to be seen hanging around with a speedway rider, but personally I think some of Paul O'Grady's pigs are better looking. -
I read his post about having a bad couple of years to mean Chris Harris not Tai.

Leicester beat a rather under strength Birmingham team at Slater Street today. Nice to meet Richspeedway. -
Sounds like he has got the hump and won't be back next year. All is not lost though because I win the bet with Stevebrum. Sorry Steve - just put the £100 direct into my bank account.

If he's going to be standing in doorways in Brighton during the evenings I shouldn't think he'll be able to keep a speedway career going anyway.

Good news. Love watching the youngsters. -
Hope not on both counts, especially the second. Really don't want Tai at Coventry.

Regarding Richard Hall didn't he ask to be excused the meeting because his sister was getting married and he was refused permission and made to ride? He was hardly going to be in a good mood in the circumstances. Considering all the excuses some riders (mostly foreign) come up with he would perhaps have been better to just use one off their list - man flu, bad back, headache, broken finger nail - and gone to the wedding anyway. It was afterall his sister. I'm not saying his response was right but just that I can understand why he was peeved at the time. -

Not blinking Poole?! Spoil everything they do. -

How can you possibly lump all supporters as one unit, in this case Coventry? For a start off I don't cheer when an opposing rider falls off and there are many like me at Brandon. There are 'good' and 'bad' fans at all tracks. -
Referee Just Bottled Semi Decision
Gemini replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Gawd! Is this still going on? I've seen it time after time that an incident on the first bend is called an 'unsatisfactory start'. Sounds a bit daft but that's the way it has always been described. I'm no fan of Holder but the referee made the best decision in having a re-run of the race with all four riders. -

Yep agree with that. I'm just glad all four were back in the re-run as it would have been the biggest disappointing anti-climax ever if Holder had been excluded. Best decision by the referee to let the battle be fought out on the track. -

Blimey! Radio - what's that? Don't think I've even got one in the house now so I'll have to rely on the forum to find out what he said. Agree it should be interesting. -
Is Speedway Too Expensive Now ?
Gemini replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I agree. If only riders would realise this as well instead of sodding off back to the pits after winning a race.
