Not 3 more changes.

As Danny won't be riding again this season we can keep Charles can't we? Don't fancy any more changes with only 3 home matches left and as we'll perhaps be bottom of the league by the end of next week it's not really worth it now. Just hope the remaining matches don't completely destroy the confidence of Connor Mountain as I think it's a season or two too early for him to be riding in the Premier League.

Yes July again. That's the month when he has usually sorted out the bike set-ups and starts flying. Now wouldn't it be sensible if just for once at the end of the season he cleaned the bikes and put them away as they are so he can hit the ground running next March instead of investing in new stuff then struggling for months to get the right set-ups? -

I knew he would do well in this match. Stick him against Scott Nicholls in any race and he goes mad. Good match report from Steve Shovlar. We spoke before the meeting started and he seemed to think it would be a last heat decider whereas I said Poole would win easily and Bomber get 11 or 12 points. Can't say I'm happy to be right but to me the racing is more important than the final score and I enjoyed it after watching some diabolical stuff this season. The track seems to be improving now thank goodness so well done to the curator and all the others who work on it. Well done to Poole too. Can't see any team stopping them being champions now. -

Very sensibly called off due to heavy rain overnight on Saturday and a bad weather forecast for Sunday. Incidentally this proved to be very accurate as it chucked it down from about 4pm onwards. -

Surely if that is a fake account from years ago and someone was using your name and identity you could get it removed as soon as it was set up, yet it was still active in December last year? -

Was just going to say that. Bit rich from someone described as a Porn Baron when 'googled'. Probably another Steve Shovlar who supports Poole Pirates. https://twitter.com/steve_shovlar?lang=en -

Unfortunately I think that 'If' can be replaced by 'When' and the 'may' replaced by 'will'. Fully expect the Pirates to win tomorrow by at least 6 points. -
The continuing decline of Speedway

I thought the programme was about the only thing promoters could guarantee making a profit on, hence (up to this season) being very reluctant to let us know the actual riding order so we could print our own? Personally I'd rather just take a blank programme I've printed and fill the team in before the racing starts or during tractor breaks rather than buy a programme that I'm going to throw away as soon as I get home. I have actually done this when promoters have insisted on listing the team in alphabetical order just to be awkward because I can be just as awkward and won't be forced into buying something I don't want to. -
The continuing decline of Speedway
Gemini replied to wealdstone's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Sounds good but I'd like to bet that that some riders wouldn't be available for the 2nd half 'Rider of the Night' races because they'd be in a rush to get off somewhere else to ride for their other team/s the next day. -
Blimey you are beginning to sound like SCB and his campaign against old people. Afraid I have been a fan since I was 8 years old and was taken to Blackbird Road by my dad so it's 70 years now and counting. I'm beginning to feel I shouldn't bother going especially as I take a dog with me.

Yes ~ he decided to stay in the USA in 1970. Strange really as his first season in the UK had been very successful.

1] Good. Perhaps no more blue groove then? Although must admit the track is improving every week since the new curator took over. 2] Oh yes. As disappointed as I was when I used to watch Finn Jensen score 3-0-3-0. Not necessarily. If they are just following the leader at Leicester a rider can still choose whether to toddle round on the inside line or the outside. -

Maybe it suits both types of riders? Those that like a slick track can stick to the inside line and those that like it deeper the outside? Looking forward to watching Scott Nicholls and Robbo. -
The difference is even if they can't gate these 3 will always have a go and not just sit back and accept whatever position they are in, leading to 'follow the leader' racing. Riders can and do pass regularly on the Leicester track but unfortunately it's usually the visiting ones. Looking forward to seeing Scott's wide outside line on the 4th bend again.

I wondered why I liked this new team so much. The stay away Bees fans though will still stay away from the NL matches because it seems to be the promoter they object to and they aren't interested in 'lower league racing' 20 or so miles away anyway. Might be a few more making the trip for the PL matches though ~ work permitting.

I must have been lucky because that's where I always parked my car for all the years I went to Monmore when Coventry were riding there.....until dogs were banned.

Blimey Grachan how far back are you going ~ 50 years? I for one am really pleased with the changes as Kenneth Bjerre didn't seem interested unless he gated, the Pole started off really well but has gone downhill since then, Todd Kurtz was poor even riding at reserve and James Sarjeant ~ well what can you say about James except he could be expected to touch the tapes or break them at some point during a match. On the contrary I think it IS good for the fans because no-one wants to watch their team keep losing at home. 38 - 52 to bottom of the league Kings Lynn was the shocking thing so I am pleased there have been changes to the team.

They do. The Leicester website is pretty good at giving up to date information about all the matches or other news. http://www.leicesterlions.co/news.php?extend.31232 It's just on the BSF that Lions fans don't seem to show much interest. You know, like me. that you're a glutton for punishment and will be there. Enjoy your Pizza, Beer and Aces match later. -

Or a bucket and spade? The ones near me last week spent the whole match playing with the dirt and stones.
