  1. Although it's a good idea to ride against Coventry I've got to agree with you that they will beat the Lions easily. Best idea would be to have some sort of handicap system with Coventry starting 25 yards back or something similar. Shame Chris Harris isn't still riding for the Bees because they could have let him start from the gate to give him a better chance of at least reaching the first bend with two other riders.
  2. Great to read all this positivity.
  3. Blimey! Remembered something right for once. I think a lot of the Leicester fans went to Coventry in a double decker bus (or two) and this was before the M69 was built so it meant travelling along country roads. I seem to remember having to duck several times when tree branches hit the side of the bus upstairs.
  4. Wasn't that a double header against Leicester as well or is my memory wrong as usual?
  5. Okay thanks. Can't rely on my memory these days. I could 'see' his face but obviously got the wrong name as I don't watch Eastenders. I think I've got the newspaper cutting somewhere in one of my seven speedway scrapbooks.
  6. I don't know but it's bound to be all Mick Horton's fault.
  7. Perhaps he can move in with Chris Harris - at least they will both talk the same language.
  8. Pretty sure actor Adam Rickett - ex Coronation Street - broke his leg trying speedway but I can't remember if he was being filmed for a programme or not.
  9. Blimey! They must have one hell of a good drainage system. Shame Blaby District Council can't do something similar with Braunstone Lane East which is closed again today as the road is flooded.
  10. Has it been on? All that melted snow and the rain last night surely makes it doubtful?
  11. I'm waiting too. I've already found out there is only a reserved meeting at Poole when we are on holiday in the area so unless one gets rained off before it looks like we won't be seeing any speedway. Just my luck Coventry will be riding at Buxton on the Sunday so we'll miss that as well.
  12. It's absolutely tipping it down at the moment so what with that and all the melting snow they'll need the good drainage system they reckon they've got.
  13. Thank you Main Man. I always like to watch the youngsters after the main E.L. match but I'm going to be spoilt this year with the National League and MDL to follow. Can't wait for the season to start.
  14. Now we do. NATIONAL LEAGUE ADMISSION ADULTS £10 CHILDREN (UNDER-16) FREE COVENTRY Speedway can confirm their admission price structure for National League racing at Brandon. NL meetings are to be run mainly on the Fridays of Grand Prix weekends to develop young talent for the club and maintain continuity of home racing at what is hoped will be an affordable level for supporters. Coventry have opted for a positive, simple structure with all adult admission (16 and over) set at £10, and all children (under 16) being FREE of charge. There will be no season tickets in this, our first season racing at NL level. We hope this structure will prove to be family-friendly and supporters will take the opportunity to back the Storm team in what is a hugely entertaining level of racing. Coventry Storm start their campaign with the first leg of the Travel Plus Trophy at home to Dudley on Friday March 22, with the full fixture list to be confirmed.
  15. Nothing is happening though John. All the team signed up, season ticket news out, fixture list not available until next month. Just waiting for the middle of February when the track is being changed. If it doesn't expect it to get interesting in here again.
  16. That's brilliant news but what is going to happen after E.L.matches then if most of the MDL ones will follow the NL? We've come to expect good value for money at Coventry with second half racing, unlike some other tracks who have 15 heats and that's the lot. Credit to them for that.
  17. Quite happy with that and I'm sure the £10 a head for all adults will please SCB. COVENTRY Speedway can confirm their admission price structure for National League racing at Brandon. 18. These were nice ones though. Glad I've got a good bladder because no way would I go in one of those blue thingys that men or women can use.
  19. I presume you mean Coventry as the other one? They are not 'demanding' anything now as both clubs are talking to each other again to resolve the situation without intervention from the B.S.P.A.
  20. Good idea and I can understand fans being in the Lake District so not too far from Workington but who on earth would choose to be in the Leicester area to take advantage of this offer?
  21. I was wondering that too. Didn't do us much good last season with a team full of English riders. At least the new Polish riders actually want to ride for Coventry so that's a good start. If bobxski means the problem is them not turning up then that's also something we suffered from last season. Certain English riders were definitely at the track but still not turning up.
  22. Time to end this debate I think. I've already said I wouldn't take my dog to Leicester anyway as there is not enough room, and that you can't generalise about dogs being taken to speedway meetings by their owners if the stadium capacity is big enough - Thomas (Border Collie) at Peterborough and Edward (Golden Retriever) at Coventry are just two examples of perfectly happy dogs but there are umpteen others, including my own Border Collie. Others disagree and wouldn't ever change their opinion so fair enough we'll just have to agree to disagree.....but I've already said that in an earlier post as well so we're just going round in circles. If you want the last word Shadders you are welcome to have it, but hopefully a bit more grown up than the last one. And that's the edited version. I dread to think what the original was after thinking about it for fifteen minutes.
  23. Yes....right. I'd rather be friends with Gary Glitter.
