  1. He's probably got over sulking by now. Perhaps giving him a spot at the British G.P. was a little sweetener. I'm pretty sure this was only done to try to increase the attendance as ticket sales are low, but I know 8 friends at Coventry who are not going after attending all the others so it's not worked in their case.
  2. Out of the two it's Lucy who I prefer next to me as she just goes to sleep whereas it's moan, moan, whinge, whinge from the other half. I'm just glad he goes to Leicester and I still support Coventry.
  3. Can't really judge Coventry yet as Storm have only had one match. I thought the attendance was good but there were a lot of Cradley fans there so no doubt the crowd will be less next time. I asked my friends why they hadn't gone and they said if it was £5 they would have done but weren't willing to pay £10 to watch N.L. racing. Shame as I really enjoyed the evening.
  4. If at almost 73 I can manage to drive from Leicester, watch the meeting including second half, and then drive back again all without the need to visit the loo why do the track staff need to go anyway?
  5. Great result for the Storm. All scored well apart from Richard Franklyn.
  6. This being my other half's opinion. He did nothing but moan at the recent Mildenhall v Storm meeting because they didn't start on time and then there were quite a lot of falls with subsequent delays. I think I'm much better off just taking the dog as she's a lot better company.
  7. Would have been better to finish at 8 because it was all over by then anyway - the rest was just painful like watching a wounded animal without putting it out of it's misery. However, to be fair I must say that meetings this season have really been speeded up at Brandon so they have taken notice of what fans have been saying. No pits gate opening after a false start and riders straight back to the tapes.
  8. I think you will find they would say they were, hence a lot of fans leaving half way through. Complete waste of £17. However, it was probably a good night for any Wolves fans as their team was banging in 5-1 after 5-1 so they wouldn't care what the racing was like.
  9. No good asking riders as they will just say what the management/fans want to hear. Never know what is round the corner and they may ride for the Lions one day so best not to upset the apple cart. I do wonder what Jason Crump really thought though as I think he was one of the first to try the new track out.
  10. Me too. Just popped in here to get away from all the moaning and whingeing on the Coventry threads but it's even more depressing in here.
  11. Forum or Facebook - there's more moaning about Leicester and Coventry promoters than any other track. Makes entertaining reading sometimes though.
  12. Are you joking? There is as much moaning and whingeing about the Coventry promoter by their fans as there is about Leicester.
  13. For gawd's sake don't set SCB off again. One rant is enough.
  14. Pleased they've signed Robert Branford as he looked very impressive last Friday.
  15. Going back to the pits after a false start was on many fans hate list but I think - at Coventry E.L. matches anyway - the promoters and referees have taken note and this no longer happens. About time too!
  16. Same here Rich. Really enjoyed everything tonight even though Storm lost in the end and I'm glad I made the effort to go. Almost didn't because there was an almighty hail storm in Leicester about 5.30pm and I thought it was bound to be heading Coventry's way next. Must say congratulations to Chris on his debut appearance on the mike, which went very well and just shows how things could be if we weren't stuck in a 1970's time warp. Not forgetting Martin in the announcer's box who was efficient as always and I'm sure he and Chris could build up a good rapport in Elite League matches as Chris gives him chance to speak and doesn't talk all over him.....unlike someone else I won't mention.
  17. If having guests in the studio is going to happen when 'they get their act together' then hopefully they won't.
  18. Just glad I've only ever been interested in watching riders on the track and never met any or have any wish to otherwise I'm sure my illusions would be shattered. Incidentally how refreshing to read young Joe Haines comments in this weeks Speedway Star about only having "a beer or two in the Winter when not racing." I hope he goes far in his chosen sport.
  19. To be fair this was a new style parade for the opening meeting and I don't think things went exactly to plan, hence the delay. For the second meeting against Belle Vue everything was running very smoothly and as soon as the race results were announced the 2 minutes was put on for the next race. That was until Adam's unfortunate accident. To look on the bright side at least Peter York no longer commentates on the last 2 laps, which is what 99% of Coventry fans continually criticized so we can put up with his other chatter.
  20. It's not much more than that now as teams only meet certain other teams once already. I agree with a lot of Sir Jasper's post. Seems to me that riders themselves could cut costs as there is often a wholesale clearout at the end of each season and all new stuff brought in. Not meaning to pick on Chris Harris but to use him as an example, Martin Smolinski is apparently using one of his 2012 engines and it's going like a rocket so why get rid?
  21. Unfortunately I think Leicester's track/terracing was in a restricted area because of all the other things that were going to be built around it - none of which have happened yet - so the surrounding area is a bit of a dump.
  22. Good question. By all accounts the promoter but was it his design alone?
  23. Can't say I've ever seen him do that because he's either not there (riding for his P.L. team) or never wins a race. (Okay I've risen to the bait.)
