Coventry Storm V Kings Lynn - Friday 16th August
Gemini replied to NeilWatson's topic in National League Speedway
Unfortunately they didn't. Good match though and it doesn't hurt half so much as when the Bees lose. It's nice to just sit back and enjoy the racing. I can see now why everyone is raving about Robert Lambert although Joe did manage to beat him in heat 1. Hope Luke is okay as he had a couple of nasty falls. Well done to Kings Lynn. -
Redcar Bears Vs Leicester Lions 15/8/2013
Gemini replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Bet you wished you'd gone now. I know the feeling though as there's nothing worse than deciding whether it's worth risking the journey when the weather is dodgy. Sod's Law it will be on if you don't go and it's even worse when you don't go and your team win. -
Lucky you - I'm banned. Other half reckons it's too expensive for me to go to Coventry and Leicester as well. Was quite getting into it too as the last 3 meetings were pretty good (Somerset, Newcastle and Sheffield) so I had to miss the Scunthorpe one last week and of course Rye House this week, although he didn't manage to get through the football traffic anyway so he came home. Shame.

Fair enough then - it was obviously a good idea to alter the start time. Leicester may get a lot of criticism about the track but everyone always says how welcoming the staff are. Glad you enjoyed your visit Shadders and a good result for you as well.

Kent Kings V Coventry Storm Mon 12th Aug 6-30 Pm
Gemini replied to a topic in National League Speedway
According to Nikko on the Buxton thread "Boxall - suspected fractured elbow....." so I hope he's using his other hand to eat his chips. -
I hope altering the start time because of the football was worth it. Unfortunately my other half didn't make it because the traffic was horrendous so he had to turn back and miss the speedway tonight for the first time this season. Would be interesting to know if any Lions fans on here went to the football match in view of the promotion's keeness to make sure they could attend both matches?

Even heat 11? Obviously I wasn't there but reading BossMan's post it sounds very dodgy. -
Not forgetting it is a 7.30pm start for this meeting instead of the usual 6pm.

Oh Dear, Lee Guilty Of Drug Possession
Gemini replied to martin_t's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Nothing to do with Lee or your opinions but I'm sorry your style of posting has a bad affect on my eyes so I'm afraid you are going to have to be put on ignore. -
Brilliant. That deserves a thread of it's own.

Oh Dear, Lee Guilty Of Drug Possession
Gemini replied to martin_t's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Why is having an opinion on a forum that differs to some others 'putting the boot in'? I will readily admit to not having much sympathy for the likes of Michael Lee, George Best, Gazza and the various pop stars who have everything but still feel the need to take drugs or repeatedly have too much to drink. Their choice and there's only so many times you can make the same mistakes and expect sympathy. -
Oh Dear, Lee Guilty Of Drug Possession
Gemini replied to martin_t's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Seem to be a differing statements as well with Michael saying "I have not taken drugs for a long while now.” but in court his lawyer stated that "Lee is a self employed engineer specialising in producing and tuning racing motor cycle engine and works through the night. He takes amphetamines on occasion ‘to keep him going’. Lee also smoked a small amount of cannabis for relaxation purposes". Personally I've not got much sympathy for anyone taking drugs. We've all got problems of one sort or another but don't resort to taking drugs. -

Thank goodness Coventry don't follow that procedure then as dogs are welcome even though it has greyhound racing. Edward the Golden Retriever even gets to ride round on the victory parade truck.......when the Bees win. -
I've been to all the N.L. meetings at Coventry so far (and away at Buxton and Mildenhall) and I really wouldn't mind if the Elite League was dropped altogether, along with all the dodgy foreigners and their excuses for missing matches. Hope the rumour is true that it will be one big league next season.
-
Got to agree with that fliss as there was some brilliant racing again tonight with all the riders giving 100% - something that doesn't always happen in the Elite League. I got stuck on the M69 for ages as there was a bad crash just before junction 2 (the Burbage turnoff) and I didn't think I'd make it to Brandon. Fire engines and police cars wizzing along the hard shoulder then the air ambulance landed in a field next to the motorway. I hope no-one has been seriously hurt.

Teams:- Coventry. 1] Joe Jacobs 2] Luke Crang 3] Robert Branford 4] Oliver Greenwood 5] James Sarjeant 6] James Shanes 7] Martin Knuckey Buxton. 1] Charles Wright 2] Matt Williamson 3] r/r 4] Liam Carr 5] Adam McKinna 6] Tom Woolley 7] Ryan Blacklock Ooops...sorry Neil. You just beat me to it.
-
True. I've managed for the last 64 years being completely indifferent to any rules so I still enjoy the sport.
-
Credit where it's due - so did the Coventry promotion but I doubt very much if anything would change some people's opinion.
-
I think Coventry could come to Leicester with their full team and still struggle to win.
-
Better convince John Leslie first.
-
Looks like an early Winter for both East Midlands clubs then.
-
I'm still not sure if this is all an early April Fool's joke but I can think of nothing worse than watching speedway from the centre green and having to twist round every lap to follow the racing. I could perhaps last two heats then I'd be feeling rather sick.

Gemini replied to Main Man's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
I wondered what happened to Martin as his bike was still under power when he gave up in heat 15. Shame as the Vikings had done so well to keep the scores level going into that race after all their misfortunes.- 1 reply

At least one Coventry side can win. After a very disappointing Bees result it was good to see the youngsters doing so well.

Belle Vues National Speedway Stadium
Gemini replied to Phil The Ace's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
A Baffle Bank - that's a new one. Have you been to Leicester and seen them? If the mounds were purely to reduce noise they would be put round the stadium not a mile away. Well, it seems like a mile when walking from the shopping centre car park but it's probably not that far.
