Not seen Question of Sport yet but noticed that Mark answered Speedway to a question when it wasn't the correct answer. Because my memory is terrible I can't remember the programme a couple of days ago - but perhaps the new Eggheads one - when the question was asked about what sport the Poole Pirates competed in. Obviously no-one knew but don't tell Steve Shovlar because he thinks they're famous.

Hope Mick doesn't get any ideas of playing the National Anthem at Coventry. -

Yes, I thought it was a strange comment as the lights wouldn't have been repaired that quickly. I know I read it somewhere but I've searched here and Facebook and can't find it now. The person had been to the meeting. -

Well I'm not. Hunting and shooting people get no respect from me so once I'm settled down I won't be standing up again. -

I thought someone said the lights were back on again when they were passing the Showground on their way home? -

Do riders usually get paid that quick then? -
That would be where he got his nickname 'Kangaroo Clegg' from then.

I'd say the Bees average gate is between 1,200 and 1,500 except when Poole are visiting then it's about half a dozen more as Steve Shovlar and Co. join the Coventry fans on the first bend. Edited to put the quote in as the page has 'turned over'. -
That's what makes it exciting. I love watching speedway at Peterborough. Great track.

I always thought the same policy applied at Peterborough as well and the stadium owners had their own staff to prepare the track?

Good post FTM. Wasn't the referee on Friday Margaret Vardy?

Can't win with some people. How many promoters come on a forum and interact with the fans? You can probably count them with the fingers on one hand and most don't bother. Perhaps it was best to wait until tempers had calmed down a little before releasing a statement, also there was the little matter of a Peterborough match at Leicester to attend to the day after.

Someone else has taken the rap for introducing the new announcer, which obviously didn't work, so credit to Mick for immediately getting David Hammond back again.
-
Permanent for one night. The dulcet tones of David Hammond will be heard as from the E.R.C. Welcome back David.

Our lovely entrance to Leicester via Fosse Park Island also closed. Just what I needed when half a mile from home having to do a detour and not knowing where I was going. Eventually got home at 10.30pm and my husband didn't believe I'd only seen 6 heats of speedway. That's rather unfair. Mick seems to get a lot of blame for things when it was actually Colin's fault. I don't think they've even been in contact with each other for several years. There have been apologies on the Bees Facebook page but obviously that's not much good for those not on there. The good news is David Hammond is back as from Sunday.

Leicester V Peterborough 22/3 Pre-season Challenge
Gemini replied to steve9's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I intended to go to this meeting but after last night at Coventry I feel the need for a week's break to get over it. -
Actually the announcer was that bad he made Peter York look brilliant and it was a refreshing change to hear him talk sense. Now there's two words you don't often see in the same sentence - Peter York and sense.
