  1. I thought this was about the garden centre across the road and not the stadium? Facebook comment...... Planning meeting is for the garden centre across from the stadium not the stadium it self. Chairman and some of the committee from Rugby BC planning will be at the meeting.
  2. I watched both matches and although the first one was good and had some exciting races the second one was no different to any league match you'd see over here. See what you think after following the Swedish league next season because I gave up very early on this year. I just wanted to say how lovely the Swindon fans are on here (with possibly one or two exceptions normally.) Each and every one has accepted defeat in the best manner and it is appreciated by the Coventry fans. I sat with some friends for the first leg who are Robins supporters and at the end I wished them success in the final as I felt so confident they would be going through. Proved wrong by a very determined Coventry side! Well done Bees.
  3. Agree. As someone who has been to all The Storm meetings, except the double header, they have often been more enjoyable than watching the Bees. It was just unfortunate that on Friday the track was so difficult (again!) that the majority of the N.L. lads had trouble getting round, with the exception of James Sarjeant who is probably used to it being like a ploughed field now so can adapt.
  4. Yet there are people on Facebook saying 'Another thoroughly entertaining and absorbing meeting, even allowing for the delays and re-runs.' 'Anyone who didn't go missed a great night. Speedway was absorbing and the result not certain until a few heats from the end.' I like to think after all these years I'm pretty unbiased and I just don't see how that can be described as a great night. We weren't the only ones who left before the end and it just makes me feel sad how things are at Coventry now.
  5. That's what is so depressing. Some fans won't attend National League matches because they think it is inferior racing with riders falling off all the time. Last night would prove them right as the majority of riders were struggling with the track and it was not a good advert for speedway. I have been to all the Storm matches, apart from the double header when I was on holiday, but I won't be going back for the final. As for the other half he stopped going to Leicester mid season so I was hoping some exciting racing would encourage him to come with me to Coventry more often. Not a chance after last night.
  6. We all had the same problem but strangely you were the only one who made a derogatory comment once the forum was up and running again. Is it beyond your comprehension to understand why you get the replies you do?
  7. They might be brilliant and the team spirit great but tonight was not very enjoyable. I pay to watch racing not endless grading of the track. What on earth is wrong with it as it seems that at every meeting - Bees included - the riders ask for it to be sorted out after the match has started and we hang around watching the tractors go round. Can't blame the weather or stock cars so why is it prepared so badly?
  8. Check your post again as you've missed the point I was making. It's not so funny now you didn't get it. ... In which case fair enough. I was just going on what Gay Havelock said on the television.
  9. One.....two......three......four.......five.......six......seven......eight......nine.......ten. And breathe. Do you know that the forum owner has had other things on his mind lately? His wife has just given birth and both she and baby had to be kept in hospital for a few days. Sometimes the forum doesn't come top of the list of priorities. As long as all the forums you run kept going I wouldn't let it worry you if this one isn't available for a couple of days.
  10. Yes, so awful that I left before heat 14, even though the final result was still in the balance. Worse still the other half came too, for only the 2nd time this season, so I've had to put up with him moaning all night as well. Congratulations to The Storm on getting through to the play off final but that's it for me this season now. If I wanted to see tractors grading the track more than speedway races then I'd go down the road to the farm near us and I wouldn't have to pay either.
  11. Why should I buy something that I'm going to throw away as soon as I get home? The £2.50p will go towards my petrol from Leicester. I'm making the effort to go but that doesn't mean I've got to buy a programme and naming the riders in alphabetal order this season has made me even more determined not to get one. Thanks. I'm confused though now because Updates has Benji at 4 and Ben Morley at 5. Oh well I'll have a bit of writing to do to keep me occupied.
  12. Watch what you are associating with Aylestone as that's the village next to me and where we walk our dogs. (Well, on the nature reserve there.) I feel sure The Mercury meant to write American Bulldog but hey ho just one more error to add to all the others.
  13. Do you know something we don't know? Go on spill the beans.
  14. Looks like it will be a blank piece of paper for me tomorrow then. Don't worry - I'll manage okay.
  15. Or Facebook or Twitter. Must be pretty boring when you've run out of wind ups and people aren't biting anymore.
  16. I've never agreed with tactical rides for the semi's or final as it's not fair that one team could use it and the other be denied the chance. The final result is decided over two legs so no tacticals should be involved. BUT saying that it's too late now and if the rules are to change it will have to be next season. Some Swindon fans seem to be getting a bit concerned but I don't really think the Robins have much to worry about. Good luck to both teams and may the best one win. Whoever it is will lose out to Poole anyway so I'm not getting stressed about the result.
  17. Probably because Lucy would plonk herself in front of it to watch and no-one would be able to see..... if it's anything like she is at home. I agree it was pretty much a complete waste of time and it was hardly a 'big screen' anyway as I'm sure last time it was on the back of the terracing on the 4th bend and was a lot bigger. We moved to the beginning of the back straight so we could see it but would still have needed some binoculars. Don't know how they managed on the 1st/2nd bend. They had the cheek to switch it off just before the final race too. But after some very loud protests it was put back on again.
  18. Looks like it. Apparently the riders all said their 'Goodbyes' at the last meeting.
  19. Thanks for the replies. Hard decision to make and it was unfortunate that Barker immediately got injured. Oh well, I will just have to sit back and enjoy the meeting tonight, although I have an idea I'm going to be disappointed in the results of both matches.
  20. The Mercury is terrible and I'm glad I don't pay for it but just get it second hand. I only skip through the pages so probably miss loads of their mistakes, but apparently it was an Aylestone Bulldog that killed that poor little girl. Aylestone Bulldog - what the hell is one of them?
  21. So why exactly did they let MJJ go as I was on holiday when it all happened? Did he miss a meeting so they got rid?
  22. Good job we don't have to then as the track has been pretty decent since Colin took over. Must admit it did look well watered last night which probably made it a bit tricky to ride and I'm sure the stock car meetings last weekend didn't help. Saying that I would still prepare it the same on Monday being as Troy seems to be on top form at the moment. Shame we can't have Robbo again as he and Chris Harris would get stuck in on a track like that. I think you're right about the reason for the lower than usual crowd as £22 was too much to pay for people who have no interest in watching N.L. racing and to charge season ticket holders an extra £5 was a very bad decision. Looks like I missed all the fun and games in heat 10 as I left just after heat 9 thinking they'd never get the match finished before the curfew. Bah!!
