What I meant was perhaps things would have turned out differently if there hadn't been that upset in 2011 and Sandhu had kept his interest in Speedway instead of becoming disillusioned with the sport. I think we all agree he didn't keep his promise afterwards.
-
Sadly ~ No, but perhaps it would have all been different if what happened in the Winter of 2010/11 could have been avoided.
-
In other words you don't know what happened and neither do I. Unfortunately it makes no difference to me now whether there is a new stadium or not but I wish those who are working hard to try to get back to Brandon good luck. One thing we do agree on is Sandhu didn't fulfill his promise.
-
Yes, but only one has his face.

How can you say the only bit that's true is he bought it with the intention of building houses? So you are saying it's lies how he made his money, owned a hotel etc? Anyway, you still didn't answer my question about the Ochiltree's having no idea he was a property developer which is what you are implying. I can't believe that. The Ochiltree's wanted to sell and didn't really care who bought the stadium as long as somebody did. They didn't have the passion for Coventry Speedway that Charles did.
-
So you are saying the Ochiltrees had no idea he was a property developer then? "They wanted to turn Brandon Stadium into a housing estate. Instead Avtar Sandhu took it upon himself to transform a famous old fossil of an arena into a stylish and thriving sporting complex. Mixing business with pleasure is not always recommended practice, but for the charismatic Malaysian-born businessman, it has suddenly become a way of life. Having made most of his money from the telecommunications industry, and shrewd dealings in the property market, he seems to have spent most of it indulging his passion for sport - whether hockey, cricket or, as in the last couple of years, speedway, stock-cars and greyhound racing. Sandhu, who also owns the Norfolk Hotel in Birmingham, purchased a 100 per cent stake in Coventry Stadium at the back end of 2002, buying out the Ochiltree family in the process. He willingly admits he bought the stadium with the intention of bulldozing it and building houses on the 25-acre site. "I wanted it for housing, and to start with my offer was turned down even though I outbid everyone else," he explained. "The site was offered to an ex-speedway rider but that deal fell through, and they came back to me. I then bought it at a lower price than I first offered."

So Linda and Martin Ochiltree selling to a known property developer get no criticism, just Sandhu? I'd say the beginning of the end was when that happened.
-
Hopefully they weren't all on the track at the same time.

Shouldn't be more than £10 for NL racing, but will probably be £13.
-
So how would Panthers fans have felt if it wasn't Buster but Mick Horton? Just wondering as he seems to be as equally disliked.
-
Thanks for saving me the bother of trying to think of something witty. Mind you Starman wouldn't get it anyway.
-
Does that really matter? Some people aren't particularly good at spelling but it was obvious what was meant. So to answer the question has Adam Roynon retired or not, anyone know?
-
I'm sure I read that he has retired? Perhaps someone can confirm because you've got me wondering now with my memory being so bad.
-
Yes Adam has retired thank goodness. Like you say he has had some horrendous injuries and I'm just glad he isn't riding any more because I never enjoyed watching him race during the last few years.
-
Are there going to be any more? I thought what has been done to the bends in the past is all that's going to be done. Looking forward to seeing you both and Lenny.

Agree. We are all adults so shouldn't need to be moderated. The problem is the usual posters rising to the bait and replying to posts obviously designed to get them to respond. If only they wouldn't a lot of the rubbish would disappear but it would seem they are intent on trying to have the last word so the pathetic posts carry on.
-
I'd like to bet they will be called the Cubs as that makes sense really being as the 1st team are the Lions. Mind you this is Speedway so who knows.
-
No it wouldn't! Hate any association with the horrible 'sport' of Fox Hunting.
-
That's a new one. Wish Coventry had thought of that when he rode for them. Watch this space 'cos there will be plenty more.
-
Yeah go on have him. You'll then find out how frustrating he is for the first few months of the season.
-
Didn't this meeting go on forever and they had to cut out a few races? Very enjoyable though.
-
Aren't they referring to the facilities available rather than the track? Probably a lot more people would attend PL or CL matches.
-
Well I reckon you did a pretty good job taming the Lions this season......and the season before........and the season before............
-
So I can still find it because at my age I get very easily confused.

Leicester's track lighting is pretty dismal.
