  1. Just seen photos of the track and it's beyond shocking. God knows how it was allowed to get to that state to begin with and there surely has to be questions brought to Newcastle and also the referee.
  2. A step in the right direction for the Brummies and hopefully more tracks follow in their footsteps as it should really be the bare minimum at every track.
  3. Show me where I've said anything about wanting Birmingham to close. It's the absolute opposite and you're purely burying your head in the sand if you can't see the problems this could cause- not just for Birmingham, but the sport as a whole. My sticking point is that for all the goodwill and money the promotion put into Birmingham how on earth will it survive if its ripping off fans like this? No new fan will put up with it and the die hards will dwindle. We all need to be realistic and understand the average fan cannot be affording to lose money for nothing. With how often rain offs and crashes do occur in speedway, can we seriously not expect this to happen again? Bluntly, what has happened at Birmingham is a shambles and they need to do better. If Birmingham need a blue print of how to run a speedway team they need look no further than their opponents for this meeting. Berwick like Birmingham was once a club in trouble but their new promotion have worked theirs socks off on and off the track and not done it by cutting corners. And whilst they might not be the most cash rich side or field the best 1-7 in the league you can say with their involvement with the fans with the 5-1 draw, the dirt xtra and genuine effort to bring value to money to their fans in the double headers that they've thought outside the box and been rewarded with an incredibly loyal fan base.
  4. Just bullet pointing roughly what was said- Started off wishing all the best for Auty. Said a meeting being abandoned after 2 races for a straight forward crash is unacceptable. He's sick of turning up at tracks and finding them operating with the bare minimum of medical cover. Believes that the authorities should step in and insist on having two paramedics and ambulances before a meeting should start. Understands that medical cover doesn't come cheap but should be the first item on each clubs budget at the start of the season.
  5. And I'll not be told by some brown nose where I can and can't make a comment. You can come up with every excuse under the sun, but charging anyone £10 for 2 races isn't acceptable and its only going to do one thing which is push more people away from the sport. It might be some absolute braindead BSPA rule but it seems ridiculous to actually enforce it and I'll say now if Sheffield were to do the same I'd be voting with my wallet.
  6. If this is the way the Birmingham promotion want to run then they've got absolutely no place in the sport. The absolute cheek to charge fans £10 for 2 races. When promotions run like this doing the absolute bare minimum and then genuinely rip off fans they don't just damage their own club, they damage the sports image and reputation or what little it has left. I fully understand that "beggars can't be choosers" but there must be some sort of standard set for promotions looking to run? Because regardless if this consortium "saved" Birmingham speedway with these sort of practices they won't last more than 5 minutes. Laurence Rogers in particular should be absolutely ashamed of himself. He's not a newbie, he knows how the sports run and knows how vital it is to keep fans loyal. Unfortunately I think this will turn anyone with any sense away...
  7. You've got absolutely nothing to apologise for. At the time it was a rumour and not one that was of knowledge to everyone. Sadly the rumour has been proved true and we've sadly lost one of the sports biggest supporters.
  8. There's a rumour, and until its annouced by an official that's all it is, that Nigel Pearson has passed away. And from what I can tell its all stemmed from a twitter post. So personally, I am waiting till there's official words.
  9. Allegedly. Don't have a go at someone for something that's not public knowledge.
  10. Meeting got a lot better as it went on and gave the typical Peterborough racetrack. But I've gotta say it did drag a bit and there was too much filler. Absolutely appreciate these sort of meetings are more for the goodwill and hopes of rasing money for a fantastic cause, but I personally think for bringing someone who's new to the sport its a massive turn off and doesn't sell the goods of speedway. The veterans races just wasn't needed and was a huge distraction and waste of time, I really cannot get behind who this is for other than the four lads out on track. I get and understand the junior races, but at the same time it does take away from the event and for those watching would've perhaps been best to put the juniors on before or after the meeting so it didn't disjoint the main event.
  11. Does anyone know if you csn pay by card at Peterborough?
  12. Was a good watch. I know it was brought up but he does need to drop some weight. 10 years off a bike and having the physique of a bodybuilder aren't great early signs. Do hope Lee has a good return to the sport though. Box office rider who always gave 110% and was fantastic round Owlerton.
  13. Has there been anything said about Blodorn? Just seems weird if he's not been there for p&p and there's been no reason put forward.
  14. It's hardly disregarding the other 6. But yes, when you essentially sign a second string/reserve in space of what could have been a genuine heatleadler then it will have a knock on effect to the rest of 6 and creates more pressure and expectation to perform.
  15. Think this season will end up being a "what could've been" for Berwick. If they'd just nailed that last signing it could've ended up being the best Bandits team in years and for me genuine title contenders. Proctor screams as a desperation signing to me and does show the lack of planning to go a near 2 points under the limit. Can only hope if its not working out with the initial side the promotion won't be shy to make a change.
  16. Hows about- 1. Jack Holder 2. Josh Pickering 3. Tobiasz Musielak 4. David Bellego 5. Adam Ellis 6. Stefan Nielsen 7. Josh Bates R/S
  17. Think you need your head checking if you wouldn't have Ellis back next season. Was one of the very few good things about last season. I'd hope we'd be looking at bringing back Berge as well. Was a while ago now but I thought he was absolutely class round owlerton when he rode for us and I don't think we'd get much better riders on a 4.14 average.
  18. Well . Made a bit of a fool of myself there then! Certainly not first and won't be last time.
  19. Well, we got absolutely found out there. This team just absolutely falls apart without Holder and its only going to get worse. Batchelor is done for me, you can throw every excuse around but simply put he's not good enough and it's not fair to keep carrying him every week. Back when we was in premier league/championship if a riders had a duff meeting they're out afterwards trying to sort it out. Barchelor is the first one in his van to slip away. Unfortunately we're going to have to stick with Holder till he comes back as we're never going to get a better rider really so hopefully he's not out too long as guests just aren't doing him justice. But Batchelor, Wright and Bates (if he's out long term) all need replacing or that 4th spot I'd going to Ipswich.
  20. Making a team sponsor a team manager? Are you being serious? I know this is the least of British Speedway' problems, but Jesus H Christ, it doesn't half make the sport look amateur. Where in any other sport would you see a bloody sponsor become the manager of a so called 'top level' team?
  21. We really need to look at making a change, or 2 or 3! Wright was a strange signing and just isn't doing the job, Batchelor has just been poor through most of the season and Sedgemen has only shown a glimpse of class. Good team on paper but hasn't clicked on track.
  22. Very sound points brought up. From my side I suppose I see it as bringing in a decent rider who'd more than likely outscore Garcia or rr for him and at a time where choices are very much slim pickings.
  23. Whilst auty might not be the perfect fit for Berwick, surely he's got to be brought in if the averages allow?
  24. Berwick have a team built that should be unbeatable at home and do naff all away. Fact they've lost twice now round Shielfield shows the team ain't working. At the very least they need to replace Garcia, is that enough to turn round their misfortunes? I'm not sure...
