Think this season will end up being a "what could've been" for Berwick. If they'd just nailed that last signing it could've ended up being the best Bandits team in years and for me genuine title contenders. Proctor screams as a desperation signing to me and does show the lack of planning to go a near 2 points under the limit. Can only hope if its not working out with the initial side the promotion won't be shy to make a change.

Think you need your head checking if you wouldn't have Ellis back next season. Was one of the very few good things about last season. I'd hope we'd be looking at bringing back Berge as well. Was a while ago now but I thought he was absolutely class round owlerton when he rode for us and I don't think we'd get much better riders on a 4.14 average.

Well, we got absolutely found out there. This team just absolutely falls apart without Holder and its only going to get worse. Batchelor is done for me, you can throw every excuse around but simply put he's not good enough and it's not fair to keep carrying him every week. Back when we was in premier league/championship if a riders had a duff meeting they're out afterwards trying to sort it out. Barchelor is the first one in his van to slip away. Unfortunately we're going to have to stick with Holder till he comes back as we're never going to get a better rider really so hopefully he's not out too long as guests just aren't doing him justice. But Batchelor, Wright and Bates (if he's out long term) all need replacing or that 4th spot I'd going to Ipswich.

Making a team sponsor a team manager? Are you being serious? I know this is the least of British Speedway' problems, but Jesus H Christ, it doesn't half make the sport look amateur. Where in any other sport would you see a bloody sponsor become the manager of a so called 'top level' team?

We really need to look at making a change, or 2 or 3! Wright was a strange signing and just isn't doing the job, Batchelor has just been poor through most of the season and Sedgemen has only shown a glimpse of class. Good team on paper but hasn't clicked on track.

Very sound points brought up. From my side I suppose I see it as bringing in a decent rider who'd more than likely outscore Garcia or rr for him and at a time where choices are very much slim pickings.

Whilst auty might not be the perfect fit for Berwick, surely he's got to be brought in if the averages allow?

Berwick have a team built that should be unbeatable at home and do naff all away. Fact they've lost twice now round Shielfield shows the team ain't working. At the very least they need to replace Garcia, is that enough to turn round their misfortunes? I'm not sure...

Josh MacDonald signs as the last rider then.

I rate Sedgmen above Morris, but I don't rate Wright above Morris. I could understand signing Wright if it was to accommodate a rider like Berge, someone who's going to make a massive difference in the team. But its not achieving anything like that, it seems to be just on a hope that Wright will rollback the years to what he once was. And I just can't see it happening, I bloody hope I'm proved wrong and he turns out to be a big scoop for the season for us but I do feel like Morris has been incredibly hard done by our promotion.

Another strange signing for me and doesn't come up with a reason why we've dropped Ash Morris really. Suppose we'll never know the true reason behind the last two signings, but I think its really let down what could've been an amazing side. Firmly put Belle Vue in the driving seat for the title this year imo.

I'd imagine he'll be coming in on a 3. Just don't get the signing at all, doesn't give us much more to play with if we'd signed Morris instead and our best option is probably still Ricky Wells.

And rightfully so. But there's 5 other clubs in the premiership who did vote on the matter and a majority must have agreed to at least let Josh be apart of that list.

Oi Less of the old, spinny is dead self conscious about his age. I suppose main point im trying to make is a lotta people on here are making out as if its a Sheffield decision when its a collective effort between everyone who runs the sport. And I could be completely wrong but imo I reckon if this was your team or club you probably wouldn't be crying about it just as much. But thats just my 2 cents on the matter.

Honestly, don't even pretend you'd have the same reaction if this was to benefit Ipswich. Do I think Josh Bates should be a rising star? Probably not, but thats not my decision nor is it yours. Its down to the promoters and for whatever reason they've decided Bates should be apart of that list. So if you've got a gripe with the list or the requirement to be a "rising star" don't just bury your head in the sand and pretend its a Sheffield problem. Your promoter had some say in the list as did every other promoter in the league.

Im glad the Sheffield promotion were the only ones deciding who the rising stars were. Would've been a shame if those other pesky promoters would've gotten in the way. Also great to see its not just the Sheffield fans that are absolutely thrilled to bits to see Josh sign on as our rising star

Obvious signing as soon as the rising stars were announced. Long as Bates can stay injury free he'll be one of the best at 7. Be interesting to see how the rest of the team shapes up.
