1. Stead 2. Skidmore 3.Roynon 4.Compton 5. Lawson 6. Albin 7. Greenwood/Koppe Would be a solid enough side for me. I think we just need a really good side around Owlerton, and i think that'd be one team that wouldn't be beat at home all season. But as others have said, we really need Facu to step up a bit. Absolutely looks the part and pulled off some crazy passes last season, but really does need to get some decent machinery so he can really show what he can do.

Berwick speedway- Pay to come in, but don't you dare have an opinion!

Adam Roynon Looking For Team Spot
spin king junior replied to phillipsr's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well that's your opinion. But in the real world we have a 5 point foreigner who looks like he's finally finding his feet. If people think we're really going to drop a better rider down to nationality, then they're incredibly deluded. Personally, I think Knight isn't ready for Premier league yet and needs to take a step back before he can start moving his career forward. He's shown promise, but we haven't got time to give him time to give him more meetings where he's under performing. -

So we should drop Koppe who's performed better than Knight and after he's just scored 11 round Sheffield? Get real. -
Sheffield V Berwick (pl) 6th June
spin king junior replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Credit where due to the promotion. I think most of us had thought they'd gone mad with that revised line up, but without a doubt it worked! Haines and Koppe look like they've finally found their confidence and are finally showing some true form. It's such a relief to see the team bouncing back after the recent awful form, and with the points change after the Somerset away meeting, we could be be set to have a really strong team if we can bring in the like of Roynon or Compton to replace Knight. -
Lovely, looks like the promotion have now got it out for our fans! Threatening to sue fans for posting their opinions, no matter what they be, is just down right pathetic. Although that being said, I'd like to see them try. My other club Sheffield Wednesday tried to do this years ago over some posts on a Wednesday fans forum. All they got was a ton of bad publicity and thrown out of court. Although I think it's just a scare mongering tactic. There's a good reason why they've only put the article in the speedway star and not in the local paper or website. The public backlash alone wouldn't be worth the sake of forcing a few fans to stop sharing their opinions...

Sheffield Vs Leicester Pl 30/5

Leicester fans must feel right at home! -
Surprised we haven't had a thread set up for this. Should be an interesting meeting, quiet embarrassing we've got more than half our regular premier league team & could still have a close meeting! Sheffield line up- joe Haines, Jordan Tyrer, Jake Knight, Damien Koppe, Facu Albin, Matt Williamson and Hayden Sims

The place looked awful when sheffield were there. Low crowd, terrible racing and came close to dropping points against a Sheffield side which shouldn't be any trouble on the road. This just turns it around IMO and makes Berwick look like a complete package. If they can get everyone riding to their true form, then I very much doubt they'll be dropping any points around Shiefield that's for sure! After all the trouble in the winter and the recent struggles, I really hope this is the turning point for the bandits.

Sheffield V Birmingham 28.03.13
spin king junior replied to kitten2502's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
For what we was up against, I thought the riders showed a lot of promise- Stead- Looked like his usual self after mechanical gremlins. Didn't exactly gate most of the time, but was brilliant to watch and provided some entertainment. Albin- Leicester shouldn't worry about him visiting on Saturday, Facu can't gate to save his life! But by god was he entertaining. He'll do an awesome job for us around Sheffield. One of the riders I completely wrote off at the start of the season and thought he was going to be a complete dud. But he showed tonight he's a complete racer and definitely isn't afraid to make some risky manoeuvres! Haines- Looked very slow and off the pace. Didn't make a single gate, which is worrying considering that's Haines' strong point! But if he's going to have an off night, then this was the meeting to have it. Hall- Apart from being hit by mechanical gremlins, Richard looked really good tonight. Kept up with the competition & was pretty much his usual self around Owlerton. Just needs to sort his bloody bikes out! Wells- He looked rather average tonight but still looked half decent. There's not a lot to say really as it was your typical Wells performance of gate and go. Koppe- Flipped his bike on his first race around Owlerton, so he didn't exactly have the greatest of starts. But in his next races he looked good and was well on pace with the other riders. Given a couple of meetings, I think Damien will come good. Knight- To expect him to get anything from this meeting in particular would be madness. He was well off the pace of the competition, which was fully expected for who he was coming up against. To judge his performance would be incredibly unfair. I think you always have to keep in mind what team we're coming up against. Yeah we took an absolute battering, but there was a lot of promise shown despite what the scores show. After tonight I'm feeling at tad more optimistic of how we could fair this season, we won't be play off contenders, but I can definitely see that team finishing mid table. -
Does anyone know if we're lining up as they announced last night? I know there's a possibility of Koppe & albin swapping, but didnt hear anything about the others. For anyone who wasn't there the line up was announced as- 1. Stead 2. Albin 3. Haines 4. Hall 5. Wells 6. Koppe 7. Knight
-
Could go either way i reckon. He was very well liked at Sheffield and was one of the few of that team that actually put some effort in. As long as he's got his machinery sorted, then he'll do alright for Plymouth.

And she answered. What's the problem?

WHAT!?!

As said, my 'investment' is paying to watch the side all season long, so I think it's fair that I should at least have an opinion on what I'm paying to watch. Fair enough, maybe the club hasn't got the financial backing to put out a competitive side. But I've got every right to worry, especially when the clubs putting out articles like this- http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/speedway/speedway-tigers-future-in-doubt-1-5155300 Either way my opinion shouldn't really matter to the club, I'll be going whatever crap side they decide to put out! It's the not so loyal that they need to get back to the club. And if this really is the make or break season for Sheffield, where we need to get the fans back that we've lost, then this isn't the team to do it IMO and could well result in a similar season to last where were fighting at the bottom of the league and suffering with low attendances.
-
Oh aye, I'm obviously talking a load of rubbish. Especially when we've wasted potentially signing someone on an 8.41 average & go on to sign Richard Hall. The team is absolutely terrible with a massive amount of pressure on Albin and Koppe to hit the ground running and to see Hall change his fortunes all of a sudden and be a solid 2nd heatleader. Fact is, the likes of Wells, Stead and Haines are a complete waste if you're going to build an incredibly weak team around it. I guess our only hope is that Plymouth put out an equally weaker side!
-
Well that teams 1.52 under the limit. I really cannot even imagine what the promotion were thinking when signing these last few riders. If this is the team to turn Sheffields fortunes around after one of the worst seasons we've ever had, then you really have to worry about our future!

Berwick Bandits 2013
spin king junior replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Hard to tell. He looked exciting, but was only riding against national league standard riders and wasn't exactly doing that great against them either. -
And for a brief moment I genuinely thought the promotion cared about getting the fans back. Hall is without a doubt not the answer to our problems. Imagine if we sign Albin as well! Wooden spoon here we come....

three 5 point riders in 1 team, surely not!?
