Best Pl Reserve Pairings
spin king junior replied to bigeddiechek's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Lots of good pairings this year! Top 3 for me would be 1. Scunthorpe- not sure on Williamson, but Douglas will more than hold his own at reserve. On a very modest average and if he matches the form he was showing last season, then we could see one of Scunthorpe's very dependable top 5 dropping to reserve. For me, they've got a reserve who could consistently score double points. 2. Ipswich- If Ellis can maintain his progress and Hawkins can have an injury free season, then they're on to a winner! Both good and dependable riders, but may be questionable away from home. Other than that, both should be able to put a fair bit on their average and not be under too much pressure to score. 3. Edinburgh- It really depends on how long Sedgmen will be at reserve, which I presume won't be very long! Fox is a completely unknown on how he's going to fair around England. Hopefully Worrall will manage to find his form, but should be more than worth a 3 point average! Potential spoilers Berwick- I personally think everyone is over rating Jensen. A lot of riders form abroad don't convert well when they come over to the UK. There's a huge expectation of him and with how the teams built, there'll be a hell of a lot of pressure for Steen to perform from the get go. But I've put Berwick on here purely because he is a rider with some potential. If he does manage to bring his form over here, then Berwick have a great reserve with an ever better chance to get the likes of Kus or even Weathers could end up at reserve. Peterborough- Two young Brits who for me have a big amount of potential. I saw enough of Greenwood last season to tell he'll be able to more than hold his own. The same goes for Jacobs, always been well impressed whenever I've seen him round Owlerton and can genuinely see them both averaging about 4.50. -
Never had issues with em personally. Probably because we're well out of the way of em on the 1st and 2nd bend! But hearing things like that clearly shows they're all brawn no brain. What rational thinking person thinks that's an appropriate way to talk to anyone? Such a shame the stadium has to have amateur security as its clearly let down the place with some of the responses on here.

Probably mandatory to have them. I'm sure if we had the choice they'd probably not be there.

Thought I'd set this up to see if it can generate enough interested. But I wondered how many people would be interested in a mini league in the speedway star fantasy league. I'm willing to front a prize for the winner and set the thing up, but I'd want to keep it exclusive to the forum and possibly the updates. although I'm not sure how I'd so that as I'm sure the password to the league would be soon passed around. If I can get enough people interested, I'll set it up and hopefully can create a bit of friendly competition!

Would've been nice for you to mention texts cost 50p as well...

Well unfortunately the rumours are true. Doesn't take away from what the promotion has done for the club, they've still invested their time, effort and money into bringing the club back from potential closure. But I would say this is a massively worrying sign for myself anyway to get rid of the guy who put this all together and by the way they've done it, I'd say it's incredibly unprofessional unless they come forward with a genuine reason to why they got rid of David. I really hope this is just a blip, all the other work put in by the consortium has been fantastic, and this doesn't take away from that. But I personally think this is a step in the wrong direction.

Hopefully just a rumour, but that's very worrying signs if it comes true...

Redcar Bears 2014.
spin king junior replied to mikebaker's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
He did, in 2006! Not exactly the greater example of his recent performance. I think he's gonna really struggle, he's been progressively getting worse as the seasons have gone on and really is a one track pony. He'll not have his home comforts to fall back on and will be under a massive amount of pressure to ride as a heatleader for Redcar. At current times, I'd say Redcar are looking favourites for the wooden spoon! But its not official for them, for their sake hopefully it'll stay a rumour. -
Redcar Bears 2014.

Hard to critique the signing of Hall, as there's not much out there. But leave Redcar very weak now imo. The guy has an awful attitude as which was shown at Sheffield last season and I'd be very glad never to see him in a Sheffield race jacket again. -
Knew you'd be pleased about that!!!
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't they need to leave Douglas team place open so he can get visa? Surely he can't get a visa if they sign a rider to take his place. Perhaps me just over thinking things!
-
Suppose they could do both? Just offer a cheaper version of the race card and then offer all the writing and guff in the programme. Suppose we'll see though, personally I'd like a programme, as long as its decent quality and has a lot to it.
-
Be interesting to see what they do about that!
-
I hope you aren't expecting a full programme for free...

Nico Covatti? Dakota North? -
Matters who it attracts. If its just the die hard regulars who go weekly, then it's lost money and you're not really going to get the fickle fans buying season tickets, even if its a decent saving. But there's obviously the pro's to having well priced season tickets and hopefully its something that's introduced!
-
Which is a much better comparison. One I can't really argue with. But again, we don't know the cost to run each club. I guess season tickets can vary in importance from club to club, and with how much changes Sheffield has had and had to pay out for, it's perhaps not the most important thing to tackle. But if Sheffield could get it down to a price like Peterborough's, then you'd see a lot more people paying out for the whole season. Hopefully something for the future though.
-
Don't try and compare Berwick & Sheffield, the cost to run each are a world away.

i have to share my speedway star with an old man who's stuck in the past
-
Not exactly raving reviews on here! But I'm going to give it a go. Not particularally bothered about it being all online, in fact i much prefer it as it means less clutter and i can get it instantly. One of the issues we've been having with the speedway star!

Lee Trigger said on Biker FM they're looking to get Davies a tier 5 visa, but have a back up plan if that doesn't come to fruition. Also talked about Benko and how he's more suited to bigger tracks, which surprises me as he was awful around Sheffield! God knows how he'll fare round Plymouth

For anyone interested, Simon Stead is one of the guests tonight on Biker FM http://www.bikerfm.co.uk/ starts at 8pm
