Fantastic gesture from the club for the first meeting of the season to be free. Hopefully will garner some good coverage from the press and pack out the terraces.
-
Whilst Leicester haven't got the best team in the prem, they'd absolutely demolish any team in the Championship, especially Scunthorpe.

Think a lot rides on how well Pickering does for whether Edinburgh will be successful this season. Looks a solid side to me though, good heatleaders, the best number 7 in the league and should always have a good number 6 too in either Clegg,Riss or Pickering. Should be a play off contender at least I'd say.

Just seen that and completely agree. It looks great. Top marks to the IOW promotion, clearly took the crticism and done something about it, which can't be said for a lot of promotions.
-
Looks tons better. Such a step up from last season.

Looking mainly for Sheffield DVD's or pretty much any team meetings past 2000's and beyond. Drop us a pm if you've got anything to sell and I'll get back to you.
-
Well I agree with you- merchandising wise I don't think they'll be selling much with that devil on it! But they're both bad in their own ways for me. The Plymouth logo is poor quality whereas the iow one is just confusing. Show that to anyone outside of speedway and they'd never guess they were the Warrior. But the point is it's supposed to be a sports logo for a professional speedway team. could you actually imagine a serious sporting team like Manchester United using some crap 3d rendered photo as their actual logo? They'd get laughed out of the league. It's stuff like this that really drags the sport down, it's alright to us that know and love the product, but your logo can be the first impression, and for the majority I don't think it's going to leaves good one.

Wasn't exactly the point I was getting at, but at least with the storm logo it looks visually appealing, and there's not gonna be many who would make the correlation between the two unless you go snooping. Sheffield did the same taking 'inspiration' from the West Tigers in the Australian rugby league for their logo redesign.

Well this seems to work fine http://www.plymouthdevils.co looks awful, but it does work I suppose.

I don't know how you can call this a 21st century logo? It's literally a stock photo https://www.dreamstime.com/stock-images-devil-head-image6438094 bunged on a race jacket. Nothing about this is good, it's not eye pleasing, it gives no hint to what it's actually about. Simply put, it's lazy, it's more than likely cheap and gives off a bad impression to Plymouth and speedway itself. The sad thing is you can look at the majority of mdl logo and they're absolutely miles ahead of that of Plymouth and you can add to that the Isle Of Wight! Its rubbish like this that's put out that only makes the sport looks amateurish. It's something a whole lot of clubs need to stop skimping on and actually spend on their marketing and branding to make it a success. Again, just look at both the clubs websites, they're a mess! How can you seriously expect to attract any new fans or even sponsors when you're regularly greeted to poorly designed site that probably took an hour to throw together.

Wtf is that? Looks like something from a third party ps2 game. Speedway really is absolutely garbage at branding.
-
I was under the impression Rob was a Redcar asset, meaning we'd get first call on him if there was to be a clash in fixtures.
-
As far as I'm aware we've got first call on everyone bar Grajczonek and possibly Bjerre.

Hope you're wrong there. Would be an awful signing. I'm not even sure he's ever rode Owlerton before. -
Surely that can't be right? It'd be strange to introduce a rule that'd benefit so few.

Somerset V Sheffield 27.10.16

Because if you're having a guest at home you get +5% on the riders average, bringing Dimitri normal average of 6.91 to 7.26. So Robbo could guest for Berge in the first leg but not the second. -

Don't talk rubbish. Majority of that meeting was ftg. Yeah, they were "close" to passing sometimes through the race, but it's still just as boring to watch. And that's all that meeting was, an absolute boring drawn out meeting. -
Gappmaier has signed. Will he cone on a 5 or 7?
-
Sounds a promising talent and should be more of a long term signing, seems like he was attracting interest from Edinburgh at the start of the season. Just feel like he's gonna really need to hit the ground running, the last thing Berwick need is to be carrying a reserve or they'll really struggle and could find their season over before its even started.

Wrong thread. -
"Romano, provided he gets approval to start his British career from the Dutch authorities, and the BSPA approve Berwick’s amended line-up, will assume an assessed match average of 5.00, which will be adjust after he completed four home matches, plus another four away." I thought assessed riders didn't drop below a 5 now?

What an absolute load of tosh. It's this sort of attitude that will be the death of speedway. It encourages promotions to be lazy and stick to the norm without making changes. Seriously, if anyone feels they aren't getting value for money at their track then vote with your wallet, it's the only way a lot of ways to make change happen for the better. -
Is it really that hard to get matching colours? I get that riders have different manufacturers, but surely a bit of communication can be there so they look remotely similar.
