  1. I get the idea, but I think it'd kill off a lot of casuals and possibly even some of the die hards in the sport. But completely agree with you with regards to marketing, it's one thing the sport in a lot of clubs cases are absolutely garbage at.
  2. Let's get real. if Sheffield wanna go up they'll go up, if they wanna stay down they'll stay down. Regardless of the result of this meeting it has absolutely no final say on what we do. In reality what comes from the AGM will more than likely decide our fate. If it's going to to be fixed nights of Monday & Thursdays for the premiership then we'll more than likely go up. But daft conspiracy theories from the tinfoil hat brigade don't help, especially after the incredible season we've just had! I'm not the type to say "be lucky you've just got a team to support"- often that's just covering up for promoters short comings- but we're bloody lucky at Sheffield with what we've got and should always have in mind the way it could've gone had it not been for the Bates', Peter Mole and others behind the scenes who haven't just saved Sheffield speedway, but made it the force it once was.
  3. You lot are absolutely delusional. If it was a fix do you really think that they'd have set it up to be battered at home on telly? Really? Because that'll do some wonders for the crowd going forward. If it was a fix we'd have seen it a lot closer and then get slaughtered in the 2nd leg. But if it makes you feel better then keep the crazy conspiracy theories going! It was a pointless meeting to begin with, but hopefully we'll see a response on Thursday in a meeting that does have some meaning...
  4. Is raining pretty heavy now. Hopefully will ease off in time for it to go ahead.
  5. Good to know. Was gonna say, with an expensive team built there's absolutely no way they'd be able to carry on with crowds like that.
  6. Meeting got a lot better after the brief shower hit the track. Is that a typical crowd for the showground? Must say I was really surprised by the lack of people there.
  7. I really don't think Wood would leave Eastbourne high and dry to go and sign for Berwick. You can make a case for Bowtell, but definitely not Wood.
  8. We're way over the points limit, so we could only make like for like changes. Ain't really anyone out there to justify dropping either of em.
  9. Shame with the situation with Shanes, he'd have been the only real worthwhile signing out there and unfortunately will more than likely not be happening now. But we do need to make a signing and only riders I can think of out there really are the likes of Stoneman or possibly Knight if he'd be on a 2. Or we could look further a field at one of Spiller brother's? Although I'd imagine if either wanted to ride in the British league's they'd be over here already.
  10. Well I've worked it out at 5 for his Poole commitments. Not sure on his grasstrack though.
  11. Says in this weeks speedway star that we're looking to bring in James Shanes. Just depends on how many dates he'd miss with his Poole and grasstrack commitments.
  12. Well if you don't like it,go and get your updates from elsewhere...
  13. Another reason the sport is an absolute joke. How can a rider just leave a club with no repercussion? I get that it's in the riders interest to ride at the highest level they can with the most amount of meetings possible, but it still makes the sport look very amatuerish and doesn't help a club like IOW who are trying to build up an interest. Stuff like this doesn't help and only turns people away.
  14. Does anyone know if they film Scunthorpe's meetings?
  15. Could potentially see bellego come in? Club asset and on some cracking form. Would be a fantastic move for both club and rider.
  16. About an extra 2 points though if he does though. Could have potential to build a whopper of a side, but as others have pointed out it only matters if they can get the right rider in
  17. Could be an advantage to Berwick if Dany does miss this meeting really. With Bridger and Carr getting Significantly lower averages (well, unless they both have an absolute blinder over weekend) Gappmaier will stay on his 4 point average as he'll have only done 3h & 4a, giving Berwick a shed load of points to play with as long as they act fast. That's if I'm working it out right. Dead confusing this speedway malarky!
  18. It's all good and well you saying that, but he can't just pull money out of his arse. If he gets rid of revelation he needs new bikes, a van, mechanic, possibly even a workshop. It's not half as simple as you're making out. Unless there's some very generous backers up in Berwick then he could be stuck.
  19. Obviously long term it's the move to make, but he'll need the initial money to replace everything Revolution has, by sounds of it he'd have to essentially start from scratch. He even said in last week speedway star his comeback would be impossible without them. It'll be interesting to see what happens regardless, hopefully he'll get some help elsewhere as clearly this Revolution speedway experiment just isn't working.
  20. Question is, can he afford it? If I'm remembering rightly Lewis Kerr dropped Revolution speedway last season when he moved to Scunny and ended up borrowing Andreas Lygers machinery.
  21. If you're going off the averages flappy posted then it's wrong. Lambert can't drop below 3.
