Berwick ‘buy a brick’ Bandits 2025
spin king junior replied to emilali's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'd argue at this point Berwick need to do what's best for them. You've got Hodder who let's be honest, there was plenty of times where he could've been dropped, but Berwick stayed loyal and kept him in the side, and for what? For him to jump ship to Glasgow the following year. And again, offered Ablitt a place and he's shot them down because it's too far to travel. I don't think Dayle is the best signing. But at the same loyalty goes a long way. If he can score above a two point average and show some commitment to the cause then it's a much better move for them than to have a rider to leave after a year. -

Schleih confirmed as out Berwick finish with Dayle wood, Sam Hagon and Peter Kildemand -
I prefer my 1-7 personally..... 😉

Well it was only a guess trying to put a team together based on these random flags they've thrown out there. I don't actually expect that to be the side.

There is some method behind the madness,i promise! Redcar have put out this post today- "Jamie’s happy, will you be when the full “Agilia” Bears 1-7 is announced tomorrow night at the ECCO Arena? 🇬🇧 🇩🇰 🇦🇺 🇳🇿 🇸🇪 🇩🇪 🇦🇹 🇵🇱 So many possibilities, but only 7 signings" 8 different flags- maybe a flag for each rider plus the team manager?

I don't know where you're getting a 4.5 average from. His last average was 6.57

Who we signing then?

Much like Sheffield this coming season, cracking top 5 but massively lacking at reserve. Don't really get the signing of Hodder, struggled to score over 3 bar one guest booking at the arse end of the season. Hopefully it's a case that both Perry and Hodder for the most part a season at Championship under their belt and can push on this season. But for me, feels like a mistake to have two riders that have averaged under 2 in the same team. Should make the play offs, but not a side I can see winning the league.

Checked my bag all season and I was never stopped from bringing food or drink in and it's been something that's happened at all stadiums now. A pretty poor presumption from yourself. -

Think we'll be unlikely to see a change unless it was 2 out. Rowe average will immediately shoot up to over 5 after the first set of averages comes out, so any averages lost will immediately get taken up by that. Think we've just got to take the team as it is and hope the top four can take the lead. -

Well if it weren't Gilkes, Hume was always gonna be the best of the rest. Think we've left ourselves a bit too vulnerable at reserve, Hume was really poor last season in a weaker championship and at this point in his career I cant see him improving much. Hope he can prove us wrong but we'll see. Very interested to see what the situation is with Gilkes, shame as he really seemed well suited to Owlerton. -

Think Hume is now obvious choice. Will be interesting to hear what happened regarding Gilkes- seems to be either he's signed elsewhere, but it doesn't look like Oxford need to build weak at reserve or maybe he's had a change of heart with the sport, which i really hope isn't the case as he's a great talent. -

Somethings definitely happened with Dan. Creates us a massive problem with who we sign at 6 now. -

With Bowes riding in the Polish leagues, I think a Saturday track is out of the question. Can't see it being anything other than Jye and a 2 pointer to finish the side. -

Cook on his day is an excellent Championship rider. It's just maintaining him for a full season that is the problem. Hopefully he can get the Berwick fans on side with his performances on the shale and can have a more consistent season. I think especially with some of the top boys dropping the championship next season he could prove a good signing. -
Can anyone explain why Cairns isn't being talked about signing for Leicester when he turns 16? I get it in the development league, Belle Vue is a good track to learn, but when it comes to the premier league hus first choice has surely got to be Leicester?

If its going the way people reckon then aye. I personally would've preferred us to scrap one of the Holders or Woffy to give us a stronger middle order and reserve. If the team is what everyone says it is then it does feel like a mistake imo. I've got no doubt in Rowes ability but to me he should be starting at reserve, there's gonna be a lot of pressure at 2, espically if the rest of the team is having to hold up the reserves, and I feel particularly away from home we will get found out. Gilkesy is a fantastic rider to watch - but does he really look much better than he was in 2023? I wouldn't say so personally. He's also very prone to picking up an injury, so for me it feels like a massive risk bringing him in at 6. It just feels like it's too unbalanced and then you've got to question will our top four want to always carry the team if they don't get going? There were whinges last season when we had to go to super heats and particularly from woffy when Howarth was under performing. So how will they handle it with what I'd say is a weaker bottom 3? -

Personally I'd have had Gilkes, but I know that isn't how it works with how our team is presumably being built. I've just never felt like over his visits Leon has been a big fan of Owlerton and not looked particularly 'fast'. Whether that's set up issues and not having the right machinery, I'm not sure.
