  1. Can anyone explain why Cairns isn't being talked about signing for Leicester when he turns 16? I get it in the development league, Belle Vue is a good track to learn, but when it comes to the premier league hus first choice has surely got to be Leicester?
  2. Never gonna be Batchelor after the comments he made about berwick track
  3. If its going the way people reckon then aye. I personally would've preferred us to scrap one of the Holders or Woffy to give us a stronger middle order and reserve. If the team is what everyone says it is then it does feel like a mistake imo. I've got no doubt in Rowes ability but to me he should be starting at reserve, there's gonna be a lot of pressure at 2, espically if the rest of the team is having to hold up the reserves, and I feel particularly away from home we will get found out. Gilkesy is a fantastic rider to watch - but does he really look much better than he was in 2023? I wouldn't say so personally. He's also very prone to picking up an injury, so for me it feels like a massive risk bringing him in at 6. It just feels like it's too unbalanced and then you've got to question will our top four want to always carry the team if they don't get going? There were whinges last season when we had to go to super heats and particularly from woffy when Howarth was under performing. So how will they handle it with what I'd say is a weaker bottom 3?
  4. Personally I'd have had Gilkes, but I know that isn't how it works with how our team is presumably being built. I've just never felt like over his visits Leon has been a big fan of Owlerton and not looked particularly 'fast'. Whether that's set up issues and not having the right machinery, I'm not sure.
  5. Granted but he is still young enough to turn it round. I think we're more at the stage now as to whether he's going to really kick on or stick at what he is. I've always been impressed by his professionalism and the way he's keen to represent GB and to ride on the continent. Lads got potential and for a rider as young as he is has bags of expirence, He just needs to put it all together and show what he can do. I think we'll find out really early on whether it's a good move for both parties. But hopefully he can listen and learn from the boys and steady, maybe even pick up some wise word from his mentor Ricky Ashworth- he certainly knew the quickest way round owlerton!
  6. Hope I'm proved wrong, but I feel Leon is a poor fit for Sheffield. Never seemed to have gone particularly well round Owlerton and haven't seen much improvement in last few years. Feels a bit of a make or break season for the lad, and hopefully we'll see some improvement and reap the rewards of his previous expirence.
  7. Agreed. Think the Holders and Woffy will maintain their averages, but then it's all the pressure on Pickering and Rowe to have a blinder of a season. Leaves us with a really unbalanced side and doesnt solve the problems we had last season.
  8. Can't see it personally. At times I felt we really got caught out at reserve last season.
  9. You lot need to find a hobby in the off season... It's been over a month since we've won it and you're only bringing this up now?!
  10. Could just be they're looking to go down a different direction in terms if captain, maybe taking it off Kyle so he can just focus on his racing. Personally only reason I could see us not signing Kyle is because of averages.
  11. If its a 39 point limit the obvious team feels like- 1.C holder 8.79/J Holder 8.85 2. Howarth 5.05/Kerr 4.77 or Sedgy 4.79 3. Picko 6.74 4. Harris 6.06 5. Woffy 8.45 6. Rowe 3.91 7. Edwards or Gilkes Don't think it'll be far off that.
  12. How many heats has Kelv said a 5-1 is a must? 🙄
  13. Max Fricke must be one of the most unreliable riders when it comes to big meetings.
  14. You see Dave the mature thing to do there is to hold a grudge against a whole club based on the actions of few and cry about it whenever the opportunity arises. It shouldn't be a surprise though. The club is based in the rough area of Hillsborough, so you should expect some foul language and potentially you're a few missing tyres if you drive.
  15. Not one to hold a grudge are you gavan? 😉
  16. Probably same outcome. Probably more bellyaching about the result.
  17. But he guested earlier in the competition for Ipswich, so surely it's only Ipswich that can use him again?
  18. Would be a shame. Brilliant round Owlerton and I think he'll be riding with a point to prove next season with him probably not being in the gp's.
  19. If total averages remain the same I wouldn't be surprised at all to see us try and fit in all 3 of Jack, Chris and Tai. Rowe would be an excellent signing but think he'll be a man in demand.
  20. What are you on about? It's fairly clear that's what's happened, I don't need an official confirmation. If you want more riders sacking off british speedway that's fine, let's just kill off the sport quicker.
  21. So what do we do in this circumstance? He's ridden through the pain barrier in the Belle Vue meeting, cannot adequately recover over the hours and pulls out of the next meeting. Look i think we all agree riders pulling out has been a massive problem this season, but in this circumstance it's a legitimate injury and one where Brady has tried to ride through it. I think as a sport we have got to find the balance of where we do challenge those who are taking the mick, but we have to look after the riders who are injured or carrying an injury.
  22. Personally I'd rather side on the fact that it was one meeting too many for Kurtz yesterday. It's a very physically demanding sport, and whilst it's frustrating for riders to drop out, I'd much rather them do so than risk themselves coming off much worse.
  23. Brilliant track, brilliant presentation and a brilliant meeting, if i was to say anything negative itd be pure nit picking. Really is such a great place and should be the example set for all clubs. Felt like we did well to keep it as close as what it was, pickering being the real standout who as of late judt seems to have stepped up another level. Should be an interesting meeting at Owlerton tonight
  24. Let's just ignore the fact that your own riders were struggling most with the conditions. It's all someone else fault as per usual.
