  10. Phil Morris stoked to be back with Birmingham Brummies 10:47, 30 March 2015 By Ryan Guest Phil Morris will be back in the Birmingham pits once again for the club's opening National League fixture on Friday. Wizzer was stand-in team manager for last Wednesdays memorable victory over local rivals Cradley and will be back at Perry Barr when the Stoke Potters visit in the opening league outing of the season. Before Graham (Drury) agreed to be team manager, hed already got a holiday booked up so I was asked if Id help out for two meetings and its a privilege to be back, said Morris. Last Wednesday was a great night for everyone at the club and I was definitely kept busy on my first night back. The league opener is a big, big meeting especially with how this years rules work. Your home form is going to be more crucial than ever and a good start to get some early points on the board is really important. Stoke have got riders who have all got National League experience so despite us having a few more meetings than them under our belts, I think it will be a tough meeting. I tried to install that winning feeling into the boys last week and hopefully they can use that once again against Stoke. Adam (Ellis) and Tom (Perry) did their jobs at one and five and you should be seeing them score double figures most weeks, I think. Sam Chapman took a lot on board, especially about the Perry Barr track, and that was shown in Heat 12 and he is full of confidence after that race. Zach (Watjtknecht) is on cloud nine after picking up his first heat win in just his second meeting. What makes it even better is that it came against Ellis Perks and youre not going to come up against a better reserve than him all season. Adam Kirby impressed me he had a rough old night but I feel he deserved more points than he did score . Alex (Wilson) and Harvie Banks learnt a lot too so theres a really good buzz ahead of the first league fixture.
  11. BIRMINGHAM'S M6 Cup clash at Stoke's Loomer Road circuit on Sunday afternoon has been postponed late on Saturday afternoon. With rain throughout the day at the Loomer road circuit and more to follow overnight and more tomorrow morning forecast the Stoke promotion have decided to make an early decision so as not to inconvenience supporters, riders and management of both clubs. 22. BIRMINGHAM Brummies are set to rise from the ashes next season – with an application to enter Speedway’s National League. Former club owner Tony Mole has confirmed he will be entering the Brummies – with their traditional yellow and red race jacket colours – in the third tier of the sport as a starting point to rebuild the club. All home meetings will be staged at Perry Barr with Cradley Heath also racing at the Aldridge Road venue on alternate weeks as the Heathens aim to defend their title. Said Mole: “I am delighted to confirm I have reached agreement with all parties for Birmingham Brummies to submit an application to join the National League next season. “This is very much the first stage in a rebuilding process and if the team is a success and we get the necessary support from fans then I will be looking to take the club up into a higher level. “I am pleased to see Cradley Heath survive and they will be the team everyone wants to beat next season. They have won the title for the last two seasons and will be going for the hat-trick, but I have two main ambitions myself for 2015 – win the league and beat Cradley! “We will be building a competitive team and I have a team manager in mind. More announcements will be made in due course, including our opening night details

  24. From Cradleys site CRADLEY bosses have confirmed they are in talks to try and keep the club on track at an alternative venue next season. The nomadic club have spent the last five seasons racing at Wolverhampton – but Monmore is only available to Elite League Wolves next year. Chairman Nigel Pearson said: “We are doing all we can to secure our immediate future although we do realise what a worrying time this has been for our supporters. We have our end of season presentation this Saturday, there will be 300 people at the Copthorne Hotel in Brierley Hill and we don’t want it to be the last supper. “It’s fair to say we are working overtime to try and reach agreement with an alternative track to race our home meetings next season, but at the time of doing this interview there is nothing in place. “That’s not to say things will change by the weekend, all we can tell our fans is we are doing our best but there are several obstacles to overcome. We are in a weak position, we have no home and we need to do something quickly.”
