  1. BIRMINGHAM will be without Matej Zagar for Monday’s (April 21) two meetings against Belle Vue due to visa complications. Club CEO Nigel Tolley explained: “Matej has been riding on a temporary visa whilst his permanent one is approved - this is standard practise. “It is valid for one month and has now expired. “Matej’s application for a visa has been in progress since February but, inexplicably, has not yet been issued. “Process times are quoted as being three weeks and no reason has been forthcoming for the delay, we have been chasing daily. “All other Birmingham riders have all been processed in plenty of time. “We very much look forward to Matej rejoining the team when his illusive visa is issued.” The club are allowed a guest up to 75 per cent of Matej’s average and as such, Lewis Kerr has been booked for both fixtures against the Aces.

  6. BIRMINGHAM have added Jonas Jeppesen to their side as he becomes the fifth rider named for next season. The Dane, who had brief spells with Somerset and Ipswich in 2018, joins Tobiasz Musielak, Matej Zagar, Keynan Rew and Jason Edwards as confirmed starters. The 26-year-old comes highly recommended and Brummies’ Director of Speedway Laurence Rogers, who made initial contact, also feels Jeppesen is now a much-improved all-round rider. Rogers said: “I had a message from Tom P Madsen who rode for me at King’s Lynn and Mildenhall and he is a good friend. “He is now a team manager in Denmark and was recommending Jonas as a rider who wanted to come to England and one who has shown good form in several leagues outscoring several top riders. “I also contacted Erik Gundersen for his thoughts and he said he was a good lad who he knew well and it was great that he wanted to come over. “After looking at Jonas’ stats in 2024, we started discussions and it didn’t take long to agree a contract - he is really looking forward to being at Birmingham in 2025.”
