Fantastic meeting , top drawer. All those who wanted Rico in for King , eat humble pie , he's been great. Anyone reckon Orion will have any of this pie ?? -

One swallow doesnt make a summer Iris. Nigh on every track Olsen gets involved in becomes a borefest -

Got to say well done to the Russians. On the Nicki P incident , i thought he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, the Russian had the line, Nicki made a bad call IMO, but one of those you can put down as being a racing incident , you cant legislate for footrest getting hooked up in someones wheel, but at least this proves that Nicki was half a bike length behind at the time. -
Seeded Gp Riders
Phlipphlopp replied to paul84's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sod all this 'commercial' nonsense. If a British rider qualifies via the challenge , then good luck to them. But , for the credibility of the sport we need the best riders out there , not seeded riders who arent up to the task. I'd support any Brits in the GP's , but if none are in it tough luck. I want to see the best compete, not people who are there for commercial reasons -
Why Not...

The Poles would go mad. Do you really think they would ever win a SWC if the final was held at Cardiff ? Not their type of track methinks . -
I would. Should be a damn good meeting

So what are you saying ? That the odds compilers at Skybet and Willy Hills take into account all the intricascies of everyones machines before laying odds? What codswallop.Bookies lay odds on the riders , not the bikes . Bike swapping would actually benefit them more , because it could end up with even more unexpected results -
Gb World Cup Team
Phlipphlopp replied to DarrenCook's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm not saying he's riding bad , all i'm saying is that when push comes to shove he backs off, statistics for that are hard to come by. If he gates , he wins his fair share , but buckles under a challenge . Thats all i'm trying to say. I'd rather see out and out battlers riding for team GB rather than someone who always appears not to give a toss for anyone apart from himself -

With respect Orion , i have seen it , and many others have , when rico is in a battle, he backs down , and gives his place up , fact. He may ride well at times, but not not consistent enough against the top boys -

Rico might be having a good season, but against top riders he's a proven bottler , a rider that only tries when it suits him. Scotty aint much better, . No matter who we put out , we arent winning anything , so put out the young guns who just might come to the conclusion that they need more dedication and desire to make it to the top.In the weak elite league as it stands , rico and scotty are nothing more than just half decent riders -
Lol , have a heart Shadders , its his/her first post !

Alcohol At Cardiff

No-one NEEDS to have a drink to enjoy it. But , myself and many posters on here work our nuts off all week , and enjoy a beer or two in our spare time, and combining the two made for a very enjoyable day out. a coachload of us came up from Exeter , had more than a few , had great fun , met up with a few old mates not seen for ages , and had no problems. Dont mix up the idiots that cant hold their pop , with the ones that enjoy a few pops and can. No matter where you go , you will always find a few idiots that shouldnt touch a drop -
Calling All Pool Players

I'm up for that , played inter league for exeter for several years. Need good sticks tho , cant play with crappy pub cues, miscue too much playing with side etc -
Crap, slick , Olsen track. Nuff said
-
I asked someone ''in the know'' about why the tracks are all prepared so slick for the GP's. The answer ? The sponsors dont want to pay money and then see their logo's covered up by shale, and thats the reply i was given

Brits In The Gp 2009
Phlipphlopp replied to shoy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I hope it never comes to it , but if no Brits cut the mustard , then none deserve to be in it. Why should 2 more deserving riders miss out just because of GP politics ? -

Nicholls will never win a GP . As we have seen before , he lacks the bottle and fluffs it when the pressure is on -

One record that used to drive me mad at Exeter in the 70's was called 'A horse with no name' by a group called America. I dont think they had many singles at Exeter in those days lol ! -
Steve ''frog'' Regeling also rode them, he didnt have probs turning left on them. Thinking about it though , none of them actually turn left do they !!!!!!!!!!!
-
During WW2 Exeter briefly rode on what is now Marsh Barton trading estate, as the County Ground was in the hands of the military in some capacity. The actual track was located app where Rawle Gammon and Bakers are situated , so my pops tells me !
-
Not yet BobC , just a pile of rubble at the mo, and not likely to build under the present climate anytime soon , and thats without the planning application probs encountered with all proposals being rejected so far. We could have had several more years at the County ground methinks. I am surprised jimmy nilsen didnt start the demolition process tho , he hated the track BIG TIME !!!

If my memoey serves me correctly , Chris was once involved in one of the greatest rulebook manipulations ever seen in speedway. Ivan Mauger was having bike probs , so the manager , Wally Maudsley brought out Chris for a reserve ride , using up the full 2 minutes and more , and then rode through the tapes at the start . By this time , and after another 2 minutes , Mauger had sorted his bike probs out and took his place in the re-run , amid all kinds of complaints by the other team , but Maudsley knew the rule book inside out and had just exploited a loop-hole no-one else had known about before !
