My son and I are absolutely gutted. Ages ago we made the plan to attend this meeting thinking about Doyle and Sayfutdinov, then Laguta etc. Just so sad that British Speedway has reached "beyond a joke" status. That's 2 admission tickets that won't be getting bought for this event.

This is disgraceful from Pedersen, there must be a way he can be held accountable for this kind of action. Utter contempt for Peterborough speedway and British fans. Absolute a**hole !!

Its going to be sad to see the rockets line up for the first time in years without Chris Neath in the declared starting 7. Has anyone got any info on how Chris is? Will he ride again?.....LEGEND!!

So Jason Bunyan has won yet another NZ title!! Well done Jason.......to be fair though, if Jason wasnt in that championship i reckon I might have a chance of lifting the NZ crown!!

happy new year to you too Sid! Hopefully I'll get along a bit more this season and catch up with you by the startline!! incidentally, do your grandchildren still like to attend? I find it difficult to convince my kids to go any more. You are spot on though, the basic product (4 bikes, 4 laps) is still as fantastic as ever. I'll never fully leave the sport, i love it too much! its in my heart and will always be my favourite sport. I just get down and quite frankly dumbfounded by the ridiculous rules and regulations. Maybe one day i'll be back in a position financially to attend every single meeting (as I always used to), I still subscribe to speedway star and watch it on the t.v. every week. take care Sid and hopefully see you soon!

I am old enough ( i was 9 in 1985 ) but unfortunately I only started watching speedway in 1988, my first meeting was a home 48-48 draw with a Middlesborough side that included Martin Dixon and Mark Fiora if i remember correctly!! back in the old 16 heat NL format!! Jens Rasmussen was our star performer then, Paul woods was out injured and we had Carl Chalcraft and Peter Schroeck at reserve!!!! I became instantly hooked on the sport and couldnt stop going right up to the closure at the end of '93. I came back when it all re-opened, but in the last 2 seasons ive barely attended. Its mainly financial reasons but also as a grown up I find it VERY hard to take the way speedway is run. Its THE most un-proffesional hierachy running it with only their own interests in mind. The rules are over complicated and a joke. Things like the double point tactical ride are SO stupid its beyond belief!! Incredible that supposedly astute, clever people could come up with rules like that!! And to read that there are fans out there that support such ridiculous rules makes me think that speedway will always be a struggling minority sport because no-one will wake up and smell the coffee!!!

Ah, but you're forgetting that one vital away match (sheffield) where he'll score between 8 and 10 points and that will justify the faith shown in him......nevermind the string of zeros every other match

just watched a clip of that race on you tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5z_7zijDmo ditry Dugard!!! I'd forgotten all about Robert Ledwith until i saw that clip on you tube. I loved him in his little spell at Rye House. Funnily enough i was actually trying to find footage of the 1991 cup final between the Karger/Petersen spearheaded, all conquering arena team and the Glasgow tigers. Anyone know where I can find any such footage?

I'm normally on here defending the rockets from unfair criticism, but this time i'm looking at that team and thinking " boy is it gonna be a long season, with some real spankings on our travels". If the real reason for such a weak team is financial then you do have to wonder if mocking Len for this side makes us the foolish ones if other clubs spend beyond their means and have a great season but arent around to revel in it the year after. You'd hope people continue to support the club, but we all know that its success that brings crowds in minority sports.

I'd like to see Jens Rasmussen back.......or Martin Goodwin!!
-
you may be right, but also remember that only a couple of years ago Doolan was one of the stand out performers at PL level and hes certainly talented enough to reach that level again. I reckon if you can make Kev feel really wanted and settled and he gets his equipment right he can still be a number 1.

ita easy to see why diamonds fans feel hard done by regarding this years play-offs. Play off's suck, end of story! you'll never convince me that its a fair way of deciding a season long LEAGUE championship. Yes my team did benefit from this system in 2007, but those that know me know that i still thought it was wrong then. Just look at the year coventry won it at poole after finishing 3 places and about 22 points behind Poole in the table........WRONG! the old "every team knows the score at the start of the season" arguement doesnt make it right!! Any way, the witches are in this one fair and square, good luck to both sides, but i kinda hope the diamonds triumph so their good season doesnt end up trophyless!!

with those 6 you wanna hope the 7th rider is Chris Holder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now THAT is a team!!
