Good for you đand thatâs the whole point, so you should have to work hard, damn hard, beyond hard because itâs not a given that anyone makes it as a rider unfortunately too many believe they are entitled to a paid career a soon as they have a bike
-
Even at todayâs standards and equipment/prices you could could go buy 2 decent bikes, all the riding gear and the equipment to set up your workshop to service your own engines all for under ÂŁ5000,no fancy covers or shiny new wheels and it would be good enough to ride in the national league which would pay you ÂŁ20 per point, where else are you going to get any other motorcycle sport to achieve that level with such an investment and pay back? The trouble is we have grown a breed of entitlement within riders for what is an amatuer level and itâs backed up by promoters and parents, just because you want to be a speedway rider doesnât mean someone else should be paying for your privilege
-
No it isnât sensible, the control board should set out a pay structure and enforce it and riders either take it or leave it, if an amateur rider canât make it pay thatâs tough, itâs amatuer, until we get away from entitlement for riders we will never move forward, nobody wanted to listen when I tried to cut costs for riders, well fine you made your bed donât complain when the springs stick in your back . I donât care how any promotion make their money or how much money they havenât got all I care is the future of the sport and at the moment it doesnât have one

I wasnât actually thinking outside speedway but yes you are 100% correct it is the world
-
I am surprised because when you know and chat to the people involved in the sport they all see the issues and problems and some even have great ideas and solutions but when they get together they seem to suffer group think and those ideas disappear into outer space. Something that always resonates with me was a conversation I had when I was working for Adam skornicki, Adam is a deep thinker about the sport and despite not being credited with it a major influence in the continued polish rider gravy train, anyway I asked Adam why he doesnât get the top jobs in Poland and he said because all that happens is you become one of them, your ideas are sucked up and spit out and nothing changes and I canât be that person, is that what happens here?

I donât buy into this rule, imo this ageist rule has been a big contributor to the lack of riders in the sport over a couple of decades now, I think the national league should be open to any rider no matter how old or how experienced they be, if they want to ride in it then they should be allowed to, the only thing is they ride for ÂŁ20 per point and no more and that should be sufficient to limit the number of experienced riders who are just there for a pay day which unfortunately is allowed to happen too many times, itâs an amateur league with too many expectant professionals in it, Iâve been in and around the national league probably more than anyone else, Iâve seen the changes, the rules, the money and the jealousy from the higher up clubs and the riders walk away from the sport and to me we are just doing the same thing and expecting a better outcome but isnât that speedway all over
-
And thatâs the mentality that closed Buxton down last time, the sport never learns from our mistakes
-
He wasnât looking he was just stating it was worth looking at, think he has seen industry in the USA
-
Riders,I hear the 2nd signing is on quite an earner for the national league
-
There must be some deep pockets behind Buxtonâs new venture
-
When ever I go to a gig at an arena I always think could they put them in my speedway GP in here, I went to see Jim Jeffries a couple of months back at this venue and although it well situated I didnât think it was big enough for a track and fans, hard to tell with the pictures from the arenacross, would you say itâs big enough ?
-
Well I guess they could ask their own fans when the crowds have gone to a new low, as my own family are belle vue fans and are saying they have little interest in this farce. Question BV promotion should be asking is are they alone ???? And if they ainât well where does the blame lie??
-
Ipswich are holding the sport to ransom and the bspl are letting them, well fine but when the crowds are gone donât go blaming anyone else, itâs a farce and in part itâs caused by Chris Louis and Ipswich, this should of been sorted months ago not weeks away from the season
-
That right you keep giving the powers that be a pass and nothing changes, Ipswich have done damage to premiership in the eyes of the public this season, they with the bspl and speedway futures have made a terrible situation absolutely dire and itâs unacceptable
-
The new owners should be kicked out the sport forever along with speedway futures and the other premiership owners, making the fans wait like this, itâs got past a joke now, itâs February tomorrow for god sake đĄ

There has been plenty over the years but like I said I donât begrudge the people I just donât understand why you would take the post if you donât bring anything to the table, personally Ive turned down a few jobs in the sport because I didnât feel I was the right person for that role as much as I love the sport I canât take a job in it just for the sake of it
-
I think itâs called jobs for the boys, I donât begrudge anyone who takes a position in the sport at whatever level but I do wonder why some take the spot when clearly they either crap at it or in some cases haven't a clue what they are doing despite their best intentions
-
As Iâve said before my hats always in the ring when it comes to speedway but speedway is full of cliques and if you ainât in one
-
Maybe the person buying Ipswich was Terry Russel ??
-
And right there is why I should not only be Buxtonâs team manager but be the person in charge of the whole national league, as I said in an earlier post we never learn from our historical mistakes and so we are set to fail again
-
Just read Buxton has failed itâs track inspection on air fence, pit gate and some fence panels, looks like some work to do

Telford classic off road show
THE DEAN MACHINE replied to THE DEAN MACHINE's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I pay ÂŁ120 but thatâs for 3.5 meters by 3 meters but you can get cheaper for smaller, to be honest mate what youâre selling youâre better off at either the paradise park one in march or the speedway show at at Warwick, both are cheaper and more tailored towards the memorabilia crowd, Telford is tailored towards the bike side of it -
And still the silence continues, surely got to be a statement today ?
