  1. a few months ago there was a massive auction in Italy of bikes, cars etc , along with ferraris ,porches and other high end cars there were around 30 speedway/ grasstrack bikes , from japs to GMs ,it was all recovered from someone who was being done for tax fraud , was it this guy ? The cars could be anybody but the speedway bikes must of been someone with a speedway background
  2. The answer is to find out how many riders want to race in Britain next year , if there is enough then doubling up gets scraped , if there isn't enough then we find another solution . Maybe only Brits can double up ?? After all wasn't that what doubling up was originally for
  3. there isn't enough British riders but there is enough riders , someone on here last year did some statistics and said last season enough riders rode in the uk last season to fill all the teams for this year , I really think we should adopt the polish system, no averages top 5 any rider but every team has to include one Brit and the reserves have to be British under 21 , they can stay there until they 22 , each team signs 3or 4 reserves and the ones that don't get picked that week can double down , I know people will argue that the wealthiest team will get all the best riders but as shown with leszno last season and Torun this year paying top dollar for the best doesn't work
  4. while guest are a neccerary evil for covering injury although there has got to be a better way doubling up is an evil that is neither wanted or needed , there is enough riders who would commit to ride here there is no excuse
  5. not swindon fans but my Mrs her dad , my mum and to a point me and a few mates all don't go anymore to domestic speedway because we feel we don't have a "team" to support even though the team is still there and that is the same all over the country, riders become hero's not because of their success it's because the fans form a bond with them ,when a fan thinks back we can always think of a rider who we thought was great and they became one of our hero's when in reality the were rubbish but it didn't matter they were our rubbish ,not all fans have walked away cause of doubling up but until the terraces are packed we have got to change the sport and looking at the responses on this thread doubling up seem high on the agenda
  6. you don't seem to understand the concept of team sports , team sports are tribel they are based on loyalty and the fans believe that the riders are theirs , there has to be a loyalty ortherwise the concept is lost and the fans don't go which is where we are close to now , there is enough riders to achieve 1 rider 1 team this has been proven by others on other threads about this subject , riders are dictating the sport at the moment and that has got to stop but as we every idea put forward there is a "it won't work, we can't do that" mentality and we plod into oblivion , you only have to look at the responses about the GTR ," it doesn't compete, it's a waste of money" while completely missing the point of in the long term this could of been a massive cut in costs while the product stays similar but no we get a short term short sighted answers , the fact is the sport is going to change but it's going to end financially painful for the riders because of the collective dismissal of any way forward
  7. i don't have a link but it was in the express & star newspaper last week
  8. Double up/ down has all but killed British domestic team speedway
  9. by hard to set up I mean on the track not as in timing , on the old dt500 jawa they needed loads more fuel to get them to go , not sure why they are so hard to get going well but history tells anybody when it comes to speedway double over cams don't work
  10. while this is fine in the GPs ,this tuner based situation is what domestic speedway needs to get away from ,is it not healthy where tuners are dictating success, how we achieve this is a tough one but a solution would benefit speedway
  11. I've bet on czestochowa to win the league , doesn't look like it is going to happen but was worth a punt with such big odds of 150-1
  12. no it hasn't improved the sport but it certainly has increased the unpredictable nature of the bike and rocketed the cost
  13. For me this engine had a flaw from the start and it was created by gerhard himself , to make the engine double overhead cam instead of single , I think it was 1980 when the last dohc engine was successful (DT500)and even then everyone else was on single cam engines , Dohc are notoriously hard to set up on speedway so why did gerhard go down this route , I believe if the GTR were a single cam it may of been the saviour it was designed to be
  14. The modern bike roughly travels at the same speed as the bikes in the 80s ,however the speed of the back wheel has increased by around 2000 revs and that 2000 revs has a lot to answer for in terms of cost and safety
  15. Zmarzlik worked overtime for that win , it was a class ride
  16. A damming piece on the local paper yesterday about cradley , the council hadn't even spoke to them and said the application they had received wasn't valid and they need to re do it
  17. you have seen the carpark and the mound , even outer fence to outer fence on corners would be tiny and that's without greyhound track or terraces
  18. yea I rode for Glasgow in 2000 at Ashfield and loved it there and only time I felt scared was after a meeting going in the Ashfield pub when Rangers and Celtic were playing
  19. Neil once showed me the way out of shawfield back to the motorway after I guested for Glasgow so as I didn't get lost and get beat up by the locals asking for directions , then on the way home my mechanic fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into an artic lorry and rolled the van , ahh memories
  20. and of course that's going to solve everything 😳
  21. I actually feel there is more to this than what's in the public domain
