  1. It’s amazing what they can’t find money for
  2. From what I hear we can’t afford that
  3. And that benifits who ? Not even the hard core fans of the top 5 teams want a league with 5 teams or even 6 teams if they could pull one out of the hat, roll on next Wednesday I can’t bare anymore rumours cause that’s all it is at the moment but I can’t help but feel next season is going to be awful for British speedway at the top level
  4. Yes it does look like it was just a bit of publicity, the bit I don’t get is Redknapp does nothing for nothing and if he was going to do something for nothing it wouldn’t be for speedway, so what’s in it for him ?
  5. Here is an idea, after the AGM the bspl issue a brief press release saying we will be revealing all at the speedway show next Saturday at the motoring museum in Warwickshire in one of the conference rooms at the plush venue, get some riders and all the members of bspl and make it a big press conference type thing, get the league sponsors there, invite any press that want to attend, all singing and dancing, make it an event yes it’s preaching to the converted but they are all you have at this moment in time and you know what it all costs to do it ? peanuts, it just takes time an effort, you have 1000 stickers made with a British speedway logo and you give them away at the show, ask people to put them on back of their cars, it’s free publicity to 1000s of other motorists who are behind the sticker, get the product out there
  6. The GPs only have a negative effect on league racing in the eyes of traditionalists and people who fail and have to blame someone else for their failure
  7. I got a sponsor at long Eaton in 1996 and he remained a sponsor till I retired in 2012 and even then I remained in touch till he passed away 2 years ago, I never asked anything of him and was very greatful for whatever sponsorship he gave me which over the 16 years was quite a fair bit,I think it’s called respect and although most riders are respectful I have seen a few over the years who imo took the pee
  8. Seems the demolition of Perry Barr stadium is being investigated because it didn’t have permission to knock it down
  9. Unfortunately without the tv money we can’t even carry on as we were
  10. Something that never gets mentioned about Poland and their huge pay structure is riders can also get huge fines/deductions from the clubs for sometimes the most innocuous reasons like mechanic wearing wrong team shirt at a match or not displaying PGE extraleague sticker on back door of van or whatever but one thing it does do is get 100% dedication from the riders, it gets discipline and as a result you get a product that has credibility
  11. Greed and a lack of both discipline and vision have got the sport when it is,unfortunately the sport is in a downward spiral and all decisions taken these days are reactive and not proactive and the deeper you dig into the sport the more you realise that downward spiral is of our own doing as much as we like to blame outside influence
  12. I agree insanity but I think if there isn’t another team to make it 6 then there isn’t a league at all and that is purely my thoughts
  13. Here is what I think, 1 rider 1 mechanic 1 bike allowed in pits, reduced points money, no gaurentees, any race night , 6 teams with 1 unknown team run by the rest of the league just to make the numbers up, possibly Northampton, 6 riders per team, has to contain at least 3 Brits, 1 rider of 8 average per team, this is not fact or even what I would do but just some ideas
  14. I’m not being coy I genuinely don’t know what they had/have planned they won’t say, all I was told was they are/were planning wasn’t something that has been tried before in speedway but that’s as far as I was told, what I do know isn’t what they are planning it’s a couple of facts which which on the face of it are troubling and contradictory to the rumours that we are all hearing
  15. I’m beginning to think this too and I’m the one who was told it was radical change but there are things I just can’t say that I know to be true but absolute silence from the bspl leads me to believe either there is something coming or an idea has gone ** up and they are trying to make the best of a bad situation, I’ve been trying to fill in the missing pieces from what I know and the rumours and they just don’t fit and non of it makes sense and I just feel like we are going to plod on the same as before but with less teams and less money
  16. Who are these Northampton fans that would go to Leicester or even Oxford ? They don’t exist, what’s the point of having a new team that doesn’t have any fans or a track or any history of fans that would still be alive, inventing a team and expecting fans that don’t exist to attend a track miles away from the town it’s supposed to represent is stuff of the matrix
  17. Your missing the point I’m making, it’s Buxton I’m talking about, where you wouldn’t own the track but the rent is tiny compared to other tracks and that is for practically unlimited use and you get the money from absolutely everything from catering to practice days, as I said it’s not the ideal solution but it is by far the best most cost effective solution to the crap that British speedway finds itself in, honestly making a point to you lot is like talking to the bspl 😂
  18. It wasn’t just heat leaders it’s was second strings and reserves too, he was beat by flint and rowe at Sheffield earlier this year scoring 3 points from 4 rides
  19. And that’s where the sport will be changing, the money for riders will be less, do Oxford get catering and bar profits ? Which as any entertainment business will tell you is where you can make serious money, Len silver used to let fans in for free at rye house when they were against lesser attractive teams so he could make more money on his fish and chips and beer and that was a fact, I know I was there on a few of those occasions, the tv money was not really a pittance, in the grand scheme of things it was a welcome few quid for promotions and will be a big loss, on average rent for a track is around £50,000 a year, some more some less, so if you pay nothing that’s £50,000 saved before you have even started,I haven’t anywhere said this is a perfect solution but it should be considered because the alternatives are far worse and far more costly
  20. But non of that is a factor on his away performances at Sheffield or belle vue when he barely beat the opposition , I like Musielak and he is a friend and I would have him in any team but he was very disappointing on tracks where he should of been good
  21. Except he was top scorer at home most weeks and went to places like belle vue and Sheffield and did nothing
  22. Well Birmingham didnt get crowds of 700 except for couple of occasions, Buxton would have derby matches against Sheffield and belle vue and Buxton’s rent is a 10th of Birmingham and also has the catering money which Birmingham didnt, so factor all that in and if they can get the same tv deal that was available this year it may just be a deal breaker
  23. Greyhounds have their own channel
