  1. No it isn’t sensible, the control board should set out a pay structure and enforce it and riders either take it or leave it, if an amateur rider can’t make it pay that’s tough, it’s amatuer, until we get away from entitlement for riders we will never move forward, nobody wanted to listen when I tried to cut costs for riders, well fine you made your bed don’t complain when the springs stick in your back . I don’t care how any promotion make their money or how much money they haven’t got all I care is the future of the sport and at the moment it doesn’t have one
  2. I wasn’t actually thinking outside speedway but yes you are 100% correct it is the world
  3. I am surprised because when you know and chat to the people involved in the sport they all see the issues and problems and some even have great ideas and solutions but when they get together they seem to suffer group think and those ideas disappear into outer space. Something that always resonates with me was a conversation I had when I was working for Adam skornicki, Adam is a deep thinker about the sport and despite not being credited with it a major influence in the continued polish rider gravy train, anyway I asked Adam why he doesn’t get the top jobs in Poland and he said because all that happens is you become one of them, your ideas are sucked up and spit out and nothing changes and I can’t be that person, is that what happens here?
  4. I don’t buy into this rule, imo this ageist rule has been a big contributor to the lack of riders in the sport over a couple of decades now, I think the national league should be open to any rider no matter how old or how experienced they be, if they want to ride in it then they should be allowed to, the only thing is they ride for £20 per point and no more and that should be sufficient to limit the number of experienced riders who are just there for a pay day which unfortunately is allowed to happen too many times, it’s an amateur league with too many expectant professionals in it, I’ve been in and around the national league probably more than anyone else, I’ve seen the changes, the rules, the money and the jealousy from the higher up clubs and the riders walk away from the sport and to me we are just doing the same thing and expecting a better outcome but isn’t that speedway all over
  5. And that’s the mentality that closed Buxton down last time, the sport never learns from our mistakes
  6. He wasn’t looking he was just stating it was worth looking at, think he has seen industry in the USA
  7. Riders,I hear the 2nd signing is on quite an earner for the national league
  8. There must be some deep pockets behind Buxton’s new venture
  9. When ever I go to a gig at an arena I always think could they put them in my speedway GP in here, I went to see Jim Jeffries a couple of months back at this venue and although it well situated I didn’t think it was big enough for a track and fans, hard to tell with the pictures from the arenacross, would you say it’s big enough ?
  10. Well I guess they could ask their own fans when the crowds have gone to a new low, as my own family are belle vue fans and are saying they have little interest in this farce. Question BV promotion should be asking is are they alone ???? And if they ain’t well where does the blame lie??
  11. Ipswich are holding the sport to ransom and the bspl are letting them, well fine but when the crowds are gone don’t go blaming anyone else, it’s a farce and in part it’s caused by Chris Louis and Ipswich, this should of been sorted months ago not weeks away from the season
  12. That right you keep giving the powers that be a pass and nothing changes, Ipswich have done damage to premiership in the eyes of the public this season, they with the bspl and speedway futures have made a terrible situation absolutely dire and it’s unacceptable
  13. Yes putting micheal Lee and Jason garrity in the same hotel chalet on a ski holiday was pure genius
  14. The new owners should be kicked out the sport forever along with speedway futures and the other premiership owners, making the fans wait like this, it’s got past a joke now, it’s February tomorrow for god sake 😡
  15. There has been plenty over the years but like I said I don’t begrudge the people I just don’t understand why you would take the post if you don’t bring anything to the table, personally Ive turned down a few jobs in the sport because I didn’t feel I was the right person for that role as much as I love the sport I can’t take a job in it just for the sake of it
  16. I think it’s called jobs for the boys, I don’t begrudge anyone who takes a position in the sport at whatever level but I do wonder why some take the spot when clearly they either crap at it or in some cases haven't a clue what they are doing despite their best intentions
  17. As I’ve said before my hats always in the ring when it comes to speedway but speedway is full of cliques and if you ain’t in one
  18. Maybe the person buying Ipswich was Terry Russel ??
  19. And right there is why I should not only be Buxton’s team manager but be the person in charge of the whole national league, as I said in an earlier post we never learn from our historical mistakes and so we are set to fail again
  20. Just read Buxton has failed it’s track inspection on air fence, pit gate and some fence panels, looks like some work to do
  21. I pay £120 but that’s for 3.5 meters by 3 meters but you can get cheaper for smaller, to be honest mate what you’re selling you’re better off at either the paradise park one in march or the speedway show at at Warwick, both are cheaper and more tailored towards the memorabilia crowd, Telford is tailored towards the bike side of it
  22. And still the silence continues, surely got to be a statement today ?
  23. Next weekend the 7-8th Feb is the classic off road show at the Telford international center, it’s a huge show with 1000s of bikers and family’s attending over the 2 days, the usual speedway suspects have stalls there, me, Jan staechmann,,Aiden and Les Collins (ride &Skid) Cov comp,Hagon shocks,Sid’s wheels, I think Buxton, belle vue supporters club and Workington are all represented there and you always get a good sprinkle of former riders, but where are the bspl or speedway futures again ???? It costs peanuts for a stand and as I’m sure the usual folk will say why bother? Well it’s not preaching to the converted for a start,,we need to set up a team that does all the shows no matter how big or small,,we have to get out there and go to the people, anyway hope to see you there
  24. In the grand scheme of things yesterdays bit of misguided publicity is no big deal really, the sport has bigger issues to worry about and it got the sport in the papers today and for good or bad it got tongues wagging all over the sport, looking back it’s quite funny really and in a strange way I’m sort of looking forward for who is the next former celebrity to get dragged out to show their closet love of our wonderful sport, maybe Rob Godfrey might even be able to remember the name of the next one
  25. Ashton is a rare talent, you can tell the way he rides the bike,he is a natural on a bike and that is very rare in this sport,he beat lots of big names in his short career but also lost to absolutely nobody’s by half a lap, that’s not confidence or lack of experience it’s because he has a mental block around riders,it’s not fear or experience or lack of talent, it is a mental block, I pointed this out before last season after watching him ride over a few meetings saying joining kings Lynn was a mistake because the track is a 100% commitment track and will bite you if you’re not committed, he has to get over that block and the only way to get over that is with a sports psychologist, you can’t ride it off, if he did he could of gone on to bigger things because he has got what it takes, I would of like to of known if he was the same in motox and I suspect he was, I’ve seen it in a couple of riders over the years, Justin Elkins was another but he displayed it in a different way
