The first Cardiff GP the attendance was around 40,000 up from the previous year at Brandon Coventry which was around 12,000 and stayed around 40,000 for about 10 years, why ? Because there was a buzz about it, it had a sense of occasion, it was the new kid on the block and we all know not one person there went for the racing as more often than not it was crap and the track was more often than not awful but it didn’t matter and every year we saw people who hadn’t been to speedway for years turning up and it was the same for the Toruń and Prague GP, the place was buzzing with Brits of which many hadn’t been to speedway for years but had heard of the great time British fans were having through mates and went over there, BV is fantastic we all know that and they were the best GPs for racing but as I said at the start of all this it didn’t attract me to go because it felt like just another meeting and not the bombastic all guns blazing social event that it should be and Cardiff for the first 10 years was, which when imo the circus should of moved to a new town but it didn’t and became stale, a new city venue would give a boost to the GP which I think it needs but if discovery think BV every British GP then the sport is done for because this tiny bubble that BV has inflated will burst, there is no easy answer but whatever that answer is BV in its current guise ain’t it

Brilliant glad you enjoyed it and so did I watching it on tv but when it’s analysed without rose tinted glasses or as long as I’m ok then it’s all good then the reality is our premier event attracted a crowd of less than 6000 and quite frankly thst is embarrassing and if you ever want speedway to move forward out beyond it’s dwindling fan base then a new Cardiff is needed, bad racing or not, it could maybe run alongside a round at belle vue but BV is at its maximum impact on the general public and is only keeping the already converted happy, this is not anti belle vue and I’m not having a pop at anyone who went and loved it, I just care about the future of our sport and without a vision of some like posslewhite I don’t think it has one , 6000 fans at BV at its best is 13,000 down on Cardiff at its worst

Well that was dire, worth about £4 admission,no good blaming the track for Bham’s performance they were just awful, how many bike failures again ? One rider turning up without a steel shoe and had to borrow one off a second halver, they are highly paid professionals it’s not acceptable the track is too smooth too easy to ride and no passing lines available and the racing is all but non existent,it’s not the shape as it’s been a decent racetrack in previous years but this year it’s been awful but as I said that doesn’t excuse the brimmies performance, Sheffield seemed to cope,it was a slightly better crowd this week I thought but if they feel like I did then they feel cheated out £23, barring musielak and to a point zagar as he was ill I’d of sacked the lot tonight -

Can someone tell Chris adams as he doesn’t seem to know -
It’s strange whenever safety is brought up like it was in the speedway star the last few weeks, the machinery never gets put under the microscope , a few ex riders have spoken about the tubeless tyres but the train keeps a rollin because the sport is run by the riders for the riders, you only have to listen to the woffy interview about protection under the suits and boots, because nobody reigns them in and when you let children have a free for all in a sweet shop they are going to rot their teeth

The iow are having their own struggles with the ferry company putting the prices up for crossings making it unsustainable for the speedway, however Barry and Martin have forged a plan through sponsorship and will be running 7 meetings this year and I believe they will be running under Nora ,On the subject of Nora the SCB have in their short sighted way pit blocks in the way to use Nora, I was talking to a current promoter a few weeks back about running an upright meeting and he told me they can’t use Nora while under ACU/SCB,even the FGA grasstrack wanted to use Nora and the ACU had to fight to keep it, I’m sure all organisations have their bad points but the ACU SCB seem to specialise in theirs -

Pickering picked up a shoulder injury in Poland today, he finished the meeting but has gone to hospital after meeting -
Not saying this is how it is in zmarzlik’s camp but at the first GP he has 15 threats to his crown by the 3rd GP he is down to 8 and after last night he down to 3, after Gorzow it could be down to just Kurtz, so mentally is this how he plans his strategy? By eliminating the threats, less to worry about more freedom in his racing, every GP just needs to finish ahead of Kurtz and unless Kurtz starts beating him then it’s just another no pressure meeting because although he always looks serious he never looks under pressure and why would he because if say vaculik or bewley wins a GP so what it ain’t going to cause a ripple on his quest to glory, I say this because any rider will tell you, if you are thinking about others you will not ride to your full potential and I believe this is why laguta beat him because he couldn’t eliminate laguta as a threat

What happened to bewley last night, he looked like he had just switched off, didnt even seem to want to get involved racing for points, completely different rider from Friday night, lambert rode like a desperate amatuer all weekend and dropped more points than he earned because of it, fricke rode well but whoever is advising him on his gate picks needs eliminating from his team, lindgren I think has resigned to the fact that he is the new Lee adams, best rider never to be world champion, holder despite looking fast at times never really looked like a threat, Kurtz is there at top of his game and his time will come I’m sure just not yet and zmarzlik won the meeting in his last qualifying race when knew he didn’t need to get points so used race to try a set up out for the outside gates and had no hesitation picking gate 4 in final and the rest of the field with no disrespect just seem to be making up the numbers, all capable of putting in a couple of good rides but were never going to be in the mix at the end

I went to a Katie Hopkins stand up show last month, not really a fan but it was very funny and very offensive but on the way in we were searched and there was an old guy infront of me well into his 70s who when searched had a large flick knife, when the security asked him about it he just said in a matter of fact way well you never know what nutters are out there, anyway they took it off him much to his displeasure

Don’t know if you noticed but the poles are not usually trying to blow us up, flares are banned but 30 FT away from supporters there are flame throwers shooting flames up in the air, it’s just health and safety crap spoiling people’s enjoyment, some pole brought one to the Birmingham v Ipswich match at Perry Barr, it livened up the meeting seeing the staff having a meltdown, life is too short, might take some myself when I’m next at belle vue
