it must be a big planet because there is a lot of them

the chairman is one of many share holders ,he has just brought more shares than most although other share holders have put in substantial amounts too. If anybody seriously wants to invest in the IOW then contact them . sent you a pm bryn

The cut down situation is this .the club lost around £20,000 and apart from the money raised for the airfence there is no money left in the pot .the shareholders money has kept the sport going till now but unless someone comes in and has money to burn it cant carry on . The chairman has put nearly £100,000 in over a number of years ,its not that he dosent want to run speedway he just dosent want to put any more of his own money in. The 100-120 crowd levels are out of summer season and crowds are better in july-august. The IOW had an expensive team last season and the with a cheaper team yes the losses will be less but it still will be loss unless someone can turn crowd numbers round but that someone has got to be prepared to lose money. There is no miss management or any other issues stopping speedway ,its just the fact that as it is at the moment is not finacially viable . Nobody including the chairman or any of the share holders want the IOW to close but unless money is found to carry on it looks inevitable. If i had the money i would do it myself but i dont and nobody seems to coming forward with offers

isnt that just a chinese bloke talking about the people on jeremy kyle

Ive a brought a few bikes in the last couple of years for less than £500 and they are good enough to compete in the NL but there comes a point where they become classics and sudenly are worth a lot more .around 15 years ago you couldnt give a weslake bike away .try to buy one today for less than £1000. Same with japs and 2valve jawa. Currently the early laydowns from 95/96 are pretty worthless but are still good enough for NL but kids these days will never ride them .already early GM,s are starting to fetch good money again but 10 years ago were worthless if that bike were still around today it would be worth £3500+

1.Sam Ermolenko ,sam is my all time hero. A great rider and a great bloke. When i put buxtons airfence meeting on this year he was great to deal with. 2.Jan Staechmann, jan is another great bloke who i had the pleasure to ride with for stoke. 3.Tomasz Gollob ,when he is at his best he is amazing. 4 Buzz Burrows ,just generally out of control on a bike but a great bloke off it .5.Nicki Pedersen ,the gp's will be a poorer place when he retires. 6.Darcy Ward ,dont like his off track antics but he is amazing on a bike. 7. Mark Loram ,an all out action rider .8.anybody thats ever raced a speedway bike -
the share is worth nothing unless the isle of wight starts making millions . Nobody brought shares to make money it was to keep the isle of wight running

the introduction of the green helmet colour helped colourblind people of which i am one. Just another example of stupid idea's of which speedway seems to have cornered the market. I said it before speedway has always been a garden shed raw type of sport .its dirty and basic and thats it apeal .its trying to be something its not ,its trying to be like F1 and failing and in the process its also alienating the people who love it -
its not that the chairman dosent want to run speedway its that he dosent want to put anymore money into it. He has put a serious amount of money into the IOW .you cant really blame him for not wanting to put more
-
its not about having a finacial intrest in the club. The fact is the someone needs to step in and run the speedway .all the share holders want the speedway to run and not for money reasons. The share holders are fans ,but whoever steps in will straight away be running a club thats loosing £20,000 a year .yes savings could be made and maybe that person could turn things around but that person needs to have £20,000 to burn just incase they dont turn it around. I would love to be that person and have given them ideas where some savings can be made but the fact is i just dont have the money to do it. I like others dont really care what happens to the shares i currently have i just want the IOW to continue. I will just add last seasons team was a very expensive team for the national league and £20,000 was probly a one off as far a losses go but it stil looses £1000s .
-
it is owned by the shareholders of which i am one but basically someone needs to come in and run it but all the losses incured will be theirs and thats a lot to ask of someone
-
it can but ask yourself if you were in that position and sort of fell out of love with speedway would you do the same and off load the speedway?
-
well it is run as one with the other stuff but the bloke who runs it dosent want to run the speedway anymore because thats the bit which is losing money. He is more than happy for speedway to continue but dosent want to finace it himself
-
no the loss is the speedway itself. But i believe whoever comes in to run it only gets the speedway itself
-
the IOW lost £20,000 last season lorna. This needs to be addressed before the issue of the air fence

Riders in the NL should not be paid more than £15 per point. At that level alone if you score ok you should be able to break even.you will never make money but at that level your not supppsed to be. If you choose to spend 1000s on not needed parts then thats your problem. Its not needed at that level. I have done this so i know what im talking about. I also know the latest breed of up and coming rider want bling ,it not exclusive to speedway they are the same in motocross. Bling costs £s but dosent make you a better rider. To be the best takes hard graft and dedication and going beyond that and you have to expect to loose money in doing it. When you have served your time and move up the leagues thats when you should be looking to make money at it

ford transit still the greatest vehicle ever produced.

and how do you propose to get the riders on to the isle without ferry crossings at the weekend?. Wightlink wont give free weekend ferry crossings to the speedway therefor weekends are not an option. Without wightlink isle of wight speedway does not exist. For the record its £83 per van if you pay
-
weekends are not an option .the ferry company wont allow free weekend travel for speedwayA problem that not just the IOW has got is teams paying too much money to riders. Everyone knows who the culprits are and the IOW was one of them but now when the IOW try to pay sensible money (still above the minimum) the riders go elsewhere to the teams that will . What some riders were paid to ride in the NL last season was just stupid and its all very well these riders saying they need this money to compete because they move on to premier or elite and it dosent matter to them about the finaces of the NL clubs they leave behind

its a damm sight more than what you get in any other motorsport

Bbc Sports Personality Of The Year
THE DEAN MACHINE replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Why did some betting companys have Tai not only in the running but quite a fancied to do well if he had bob hope of being in the top 10 ? and Why is the bspa writing a letter to the bbc? Were they led to believe tai would be in the 10? Because writing a letter to the bbc to complain about it is a waste of even the bspa's time .small time sport or not something dosent ring true. Let the conspiracy begin -

There is loads of old school speedway riders still around who have a wealth of knowledge about speedway .listen and learn from these ex riders. I did, i even listened and learnt from a motocrosser from the sixties .he was so wise because he had been there been there and got the teeshirt. He learnt me about the crap that goes on in motorsport .I know i didnt get to the great heights of speedway but i realized after a few years i wasnt good enough so decided just to have fun at it and even made a bit of money at it .my message here is if you follow the latest trend speedway will bankrupt you ,before you spend a fortune on the latest gold talon wheels just think to yourself will they make me go faster than a plain silver jawa set? .if the answer is yes then thats your problem ,dont expect speedway to pay for your fashion
