  1. Untill the bspa grasp the sport is too overpriced for the fans nothing else really matters. It is not the answer to fans coming back but when fans are tempted back through a proper run sport and good promotion is could be the difference to make them believe they get value for money and want to return because at the moment even the diehards are feeling short changed. I know some will go to great lengths to explain why a £10 sport can't work but as any successful buusness man or women will tell you there is no word as can't .
  2. I think it will be a mainly stay as we are agm and the bspa will issue a statement at the end saying ".more than ever we were in it together and we one in our goal to take the sport forward .we had some tough decisions to make about the future of our sport but chose not to take them but matt ford won the raffle and we were all delighted as fellow promoters with his win and we all had a jolly time at our weekend knees up .so for 2014 season its the same as before because lets face it as failure goes the last 10 have been a success. No other sport has drove so many fans away as speedway and we are planing to continue that success rate in 2014". I hope im wrong but there is too many hoovers in speedway and not enough radiators
  3. The riders should just stick together and ride ,get woffy in aswell then the FIM will have to back down . It makes me laugh that BSI pay the FIM so much every year and they believe that gives them absolute power but in the process they screw over bread and butter league racing and dont pay to conpensate it. I guess BSI are now feeling like the bspa (sad day when i stick up for that lot) Its tough at top
  4. this has been my point in previous posts. I would say that 90% of novices think anodized rims are more important than a clean air filter.
  5. you can get old jawa laydown engines for peanuts but unfortunatly the new breed of up and comings insist on the latest offset GM bike with monster stickers and a joker throttle and they cant even slide the bike but they insist on waisting money and for that reason i cant see them wanting to buy or ride an f2bike because thats not what holder/hancock or gollob are riding and in their head thats what matters 2 were used in the buxton air fence meeting by aidan and les collins .they were not far off the pace although on a big fast track i think they would be lost
  6. i my personal opinion the honda ktm etc is not the way forward . The way forward is for someone to get jrm to make a budget speedway engine thats just for brirish speedway. Its cheap and you can only use the parts by that manufacutuer which are standard. They could even use the design for the ice engine that they currently make which is a 2valve and make the adjustments for speedway but had anybody got the will to make this happen ? I doubt it but i know one promotor did put this idea forward 5years ago but it never happend
  7. a couple of my friends ride motox and they ride 450s and they do blow up quite alot. Any engine used like a speedway engine at max revs will blow up ,dosent matter if its made by honda or rolls royce or whoever and to say these motox engine will last without any blow ups is false. As said a jawa or gm or any engine will last a season without service if your just pootling round
  8. 1994 the speedway track was put inside the current stockcar track and i think it was 1996 the seperate current speedway track was built
  9. There is an end of season do ,its on the 16th november at the winking man (same venue as last year) i think that is correct
  10. if you do your history you will know a rider lost his life after he bled to death after his crash because his neck was cut on a mesh wire fence. He suffered no other injuries and wasnt even a bad crash . That wouldnt of happend with an airfence although airfences were not around at the time of the crash . Airfences were tested prior to being installed at speedway tracks .rye house may be the best of the mesh fences but put an airfence infront of that and you double the safety of it. You keep saying there has been no testing but there has briggo did loads of tests before they were installed at tracks . The" biased opinion" that i gave you is the same opinion that is shared by all riders .even Chris Holder will tell you they are the best fence but as with his crash the fitting of them needs to be looked at and i believe it has been addressed.
  11. i will give you 1 staistic .the fact that i am here today talking to you after my crash at newport was a testiment to the safety of the airfence. Thats one life it saved ,maybe not enough to concince you but it sealed the deal for me
  12. yes there is proof every rider that has slammed into all sorts of fences . They are used at some tracks in road racing and they spend millions on testing them. Car racing is total different as cars are fitted with crumple zones into the chassis .bikes dont have that luxury .the research behind these fences is done in the only way you can with racing and thats to test them in real situations. When the airfence first came out the were fitted on the straights aswell but it was found that it sucked the bike into the fence going down the straight but it only happened a couple of times.please explain how that would of been found out without actually being used in a race. Of the 1000s of serious crashes that have happend with the air fence only the lifting of the fence has shown to be at fault and that is being addressed. car manufactures spend millions on car safety and reinacting crashes but after all that money and testing there is still accidents that happen in the real world that they did not and could not see happening because in crashes not two accidents react the same but they learn from . There is no better testing ground than the real world but we have a great product and every rider agrees its a major step forward in safety. After seeing jason garrity's horrific crash at sheffield i believe an airfence inffront of the current fence would of prevented his broken leg. The so called safe fence snapped his front wheel rim in half ,what chance did a bone have
  13. sheffield's safety record is nothing to do with the fence it the shape of the track. You dont hit the fence straight on you hit it along it ,it was the same sort of thing at exeter and that was a steel fence but you didnt hit it straight on and yes i have ploughed into sheffields fence aswell and it didnt save me from injury. The fence didnt give an inch so something had to absorb the impact and that was me .an airfence would of taken most of if not all of the impact. Riders crashing is testing .its work in progress . you cant test properly for racing incidents no matter how much money you throw at it .there will always be that one crash where a one in a million chance happend. I dont like using the" you have never raced a speedway bike " but when you have hit an metal/wood/mesh fence it bloody hurts and i have to say there have been a couple of times ive crashed into an airfence and it hurt very little .airfences a massive step forward in safety if you know me i very against pointless things being used in speedway like dirt deflectors and oil catchers etc and im very vocal about it but the airfence is a godsend for speedway and i know the SRA tried to push through airfence 5years ago at every level so the riders are all united on this .also there is a helmet on the market that you put on loose and then inflate to fit .Adam Mckinna used one at buxton this year. The only real way to test is to put it in real situations and that is whats been done yes it has floors and they need to be addressed but the airfence has been a excelent step forward and to read some promoters saying "my track dosent need them" and then to go to try to justify why is really sad
  14. especially as he had just had a mad dash to the track from the strictly come dancing auditions judging by what he was wearing tonight
  15. are you sure your not a promoter?. Well the air fence saved my life so thats proof enough for me and i dont think you would need to go far to find other riders who agree but the fact is they are going to be installed at every track and although ive retired now its a fact im really happy about
  16. i used the bouncy castle /garden fence because thats what the 2 types of fence really are and my helmet broke because i hit the airfence so hard i actually hit the fence behind behind it aswell and thats what broke my helmet. Without that airfence infront things would of been a lot worse. My avtar pic is the crash . Yes it is my opinion but it is also the opinion of all the riders although they all agree the fixing down of the air fence needs looking at and any safety board anywhere in the world would be of the same opinion as the riders .air fences are also used in road racing aswell now
  17. every rider that has hit one full on including myself is proof enough .i have spent a few times in hospital when ive hit other fences .the worst crash i ever had was at newport with an air fence which i broke my helmet but apart from some aches and pains i was relativly ok .when we did the SRA meetings every rider bar none wanted an air fence and i dont think that will ever change. The fitting is an issue that needs to be looked at but the air/foam fence is a must. If want scientific proof the get a bouncy castle on one side of your garden and the normal garden fence on the other then borrow a motorbike and ride full speed into each one in turn and see for yourself which one is best
  18. It dosent matter what the FIM or prince charles for that matter say .we are talking about a safety issue that is not about money making or whatever .the air /polyfoam fence is an absolute must at every track. yes the way its fitted down needs looking at but the fence itself it a total yes ,no buts. It needs to be installed everywhere
  19. they were high on confidence untill ty got injured but team spirit has been the same all year.
  20. was it sky high? . watch birminghams team they are there for each other . its not been like that at wolves this year . ive no doubt injuries play there part but they just dont seem to be a team .on the wolves side of the pits is was a quiet place . did any wolves rider even congratulate sqora on his win in heat 15?. you win as a team you lose as a team .fair play to birmingham they get the team thing
  21. it shouldnt be a formality ,birmingham are there to be beat and they can be but if you dont believe it will never happen
  22. i dont think there is much team spirit going on within wolves team .last night over the one side the pits there were 7guys in it together ,there for each other ,pats on the back etc ,over our side it was 6 riders not really in it together .i know when your losing heads drop but there is no togetherness when that happens. its not that they dont get on cause they do but just dont work as a team.
  23. i can not answer for buxton speedway but i expect buxton to be around for another 20years
  24. happy you enjoyed the day. wasnt sure if supporters would get behind the idea but they did. i did encourage the riders to throw a tantrum with the ref if they got excluded but they had no exclutions and all of them enjoyed the day. really dissappinted by jano as he never notified me he wouldnt be riding and he still hasnt and i didnt find out till the saturday .thank you for richard juul for stepping in and was a pleasure to work with him .on a personal level i was gutted that i never got to race my all time hero sam cause he crashed in his 3rd ride but it was great event and it was also good to ride in a meeting without stupid bike rules. hopefully we raised enough money for an air fence.thank you to all those who supported the event
