  1. its not that the chairman dosent want to run speedway its that he dosent want to put anymore money into it. He has put a serious amount of money into the IOW .you cant really blame him for not wanting to put more
  2. its not about having a finacial intrest in the club. The fact is the someone needs to step in and run the speedway .all the share holders want the speedway to run and not for money reasons. The share holders are fans ,but whoever steps in will straight away be running a club thats loosing £20,000 a year .yes savings could be made and maybe that person could turn things around but that person needs to have £20,000 to burn just incase they dont turn it around. I would love to be that person and have given them ideas where some savings can be made but the fact is i just dont have the money to do it. I like others dont really care what happens to the shares i currently have i just want the IOW to continue. I will just add last seasons team was a very expensive team for the national league and £20,000 was probly a one off as far a losses go but it stil looses £1000s .
  3. it is owned by the shareholders of which i am one but basically someone needs to come in and run it but all the losses incured will be theirs and thats a lot to ask of someone
  4. it can but ask yourself if you were in that position and sort of fell out of love with speedway would you do the same and off load the speedway?
  5. well it is run as one with the other stuff but the bloke who runs it dosent want to run the speedway anymore because thats the bit which is losing money. He is more than happy for speedway to continue but dosent want to finace it himself
  6. no the loss is the speedway itself. But i believe whoever comes in to run it only gets the speedway itself
  7. the IOW lost £20,000 last season lorna. This needs to be addressed before the issue of the air fence
  8. Riders in the NL should not be paid more than £15 per point. At that level alone if you score ok you should be able to break even.you will never make money but at that level your not supppsed to be. If you choose to spend 1000s on not needed parts then thats your problem. Its not needed at that level. I have done this so i know what im talking about. I also know the latest breed of up and coming rider want bling ,it not exclusive to speedway they are the same in motocross. Bling costs £s but dosent make you a better rider. To be the best takes hard graft and dedication and going beyond that and you have to expect to loose money in doing it. When you have served your time and move up the leagues thats when you should be looking to make money at it
  9. ford transit still the greatest vehicle ever produced.
  10. speedway rolling chassis for sale. Jawa diamond ,stuha rear loop and forks. Everything except engine and carb. Suit amateur or national league rider .£575. Message me
  11. and how do you propose to get the riders on to the isle without ferry crossings at the weekend?. Wightlink wont give free weekend ferry crossings to the speedway therefor weekends are not an option. Without wightlink isle of wight speedway does not exist. For the record its £83 per van if you pay
  12. weekends are not an option .the ferry company wont allow free weekend travel for speedwayA problem that not just the IOW has got is teams paying too much money to riders. Everyone knows who the culprits are and the IOW was one of them but now when the IOW try to pay sensible money (still above the minimum) the riders go elsewhere to the teams that will . What some riders were paid to ride in the NL last season was just stupid and its all very well these riders saying they need this money to compete because they move on to premier or elite and it dosent matter to them about the finaces of the NL clubs they leave behind
  13. its a damm sight more than what you get in any other motorsport
  14. Why did some betting companys have Tai not only in the running but quite a fancied to do well if he had bob hope of being in the top 10 ? and Why is the bspa writing a letter to the bbc? Were they led to believe tai would be in the 10? Because writing a letter to the bbc to complain about it is a waste of even the bspa's time .small time sport or not something dosent ring true. Let the conspiracy begin
  15. I thought Mo Farah was a woman ,well its a chicks name. Still dont know who the hell he is ? or most of the 10 for that matter. If it hasn't got an engine its not sport
  16. hopefully all the teams coming to the tapes and it would be nice to have a couple of new ones aswell
  17. There is loads of old school speedway riders still around who have a wealth of knowledge about speedway .listen and learn from these ex riders. I did, i even listened and learnt from a motocrosser from the sixties .he was so wise because he had been there been there and got the teeshirt. He learnt me about the crap that goes on in motorsport .I know i didnt get to the great heights of speedway but i realized after a few years i wasnt good enough so decided just to have fun at it and even made a bit of money at it .my message here is if you follow the latest trend speedway will bankrupt you ,before you spend a fortune on the latest gold talon wheels just think to yourself will they make me go faster than a plain silver jawa set? .if the answer is yes then thats your problem ,dont expect speedway to pay for your fashion
  18. strange how there are still jawas in premier and a even a couple in elite yet they are not good enough to use in NL?. Holder, woffinden ,ward on a 10 year old jawa will still beat any NL rider on the latest GM .untill the day when that is not a fact jawa engines are good enough
  19. i know for a fact that if this £10 a point isnt stuck to that one team wont be coming to the tapes next season and the NL cant afford to lose any teams so its in the intrest of the other teams to stick to it. Yes i could do my own engines but thats not the whole problem. NL riders waste more money on bling for their bikes than they need to .its not just in speedway its in all motor sports. They insist on things like joker throttles £100 When a gasser one is £20 and works exactly the same .they have buy straight backends when as proved the round one is no different in performance .you cant give round backends away but straight ones are £150. I could go on but you get the point. I understand engines are expensive to maintain but you wouldnt belive how much some NL riders waste on have expensive parts put in to their engines .there are even some offset GM engines in the NL ,why? You dont need an engine like that. Its great to have nice bikes and yes everyone wants the best equipment but why should somebody else pay for it
  20. yes i agree ,although i like the best of british and other retro stuff i dont expect it to be in the Speedway Star .if that sort of stuff is not your thing and track review is not your team then the star in the last few weeks is not worth buying ,very little else in it . There is plenty of things good and bad going on in speedway at the moment but if its lazy journalism or not wanting to upset the powers that be it just dosent get in.
  21. A problem in the national league is teams paying more than 10 a point and 10p a mile .too many riders at this level think the sport owes them a living and it dosent and the sport cant afford it.if all teams stuck to it the riders would either ride or dont ride ,. No doubt some dads will give the costs issue but it can be done ive done it
  22. These couple of rule changes right or wrong are only going to please or not as seems the case the fans who already attend speedway and incase people are unsure the reason the sport is losing money is there are not enough of said fans attending .so my question is where is the vision for the future to attract new or even ex supporters to speedway
  23. I hope all the british riders get an elite league chance not just NL but where is the reduction in admission to entice the most important people (the supporters) back to the sport. This imo was the first important step the sport has to make to getting the missing thousands back .Sadly it hasnt happened and i cant see the sport recovering any time soon
  24. yes poland is where the big money is .a rider gets fined £1000s by his club if his shirt is not buttened up properly
  25. jawa/jrm already make a 2 valve engine in upright and laydown form ,it is used for ice racing.
