Rider insurance (or lack thereof)
Wee Eck replied to Dave_minall's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
If the ACU insurance is now the same for speedway as all other disciplines then yes, they’ll be covered. Under the previous arrangements, they weren’t. -

“So we’re not actually insured to a certain extent” has to also mean that, to a certain extent, they are insured. Maybe a change of insurer or the level of cover, or who pays for what, but seems wrong to say they’re not insured -
If he’s back in again that surely has to be the end of any chance of a comeback. Ever

I thought it might be an incentive to write the long awaited sequel? And "At least we can't finish 10th" sounds like a great title :)

No. Smart TV remembers sites

There was a post on Facebook a couple of days ago explaining that logging in to BSN through the web browser on a smart tv no longer works and you have to use a laptop, tablet, iPhone or stick to log in. For some, that will be a complication too far, especially as many clubs’ streams can still be accessed through the web browser.

Surely Abblit is safe. It would be a shame that the only rider tempted back into the sport by reducing his average (not that he’d actually been away) gets dumped at the first opportunity. That sounds like something a consistent winning team would do

Team built to win at home and lose away. I hope Redcar had a good crowd to help cover the cost of having very weak opposition. Pickering 16, the same as SIX other riders. Shameful.

He was a crazy signing for Plymouth last year with all his weekend Polish commitments. Here’s hoping that, for as long as Redcar need him, he’ll be available.
-
Great move. He’s keen to race in UK and while the Northampton nonsense drags on, it’ll give him a chance to earn some money

The clash of what many see as the bottom two clubs. Scunny built to win at EWR, Redcar, reeling from the loss of Charles Wright having to rely on the help of a ring rusty Kyle Howarth and the cunning of Gavin Parr. I’ll go 45-45 with Rambo getting a paid max. Or maybe 65-25

Very good question. My opinion, probably valueless, is he’d struggle to qualify for either. He’s opted out of the top two leagues in Poland and, unless there are changes, looks unlikely to race in England so he’s unlikely to be as competitive as he once was. Places for the qualifiers will be limited - is it SCB that makes the nominations? - so I’d guess that nominations will be based on future prospects rather than past endeavours

What about Northampton?
Wee Eck replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I suppose it all depends on the professionalism of the promotion. Poole are known to pay less in points money than most similar teams, that’s been the way for many years, but to use sponsors to top up riders’ income. But at the same time, they’ve promoted heavily in the local area (maybe less recently but that might change with Matt Ford moving back to England). Central marketing by BSPA/BSPL hasn’t worked so it’s down to each club to do their own. And my guess is that BV believe that having Dan and Brady gives them a better selling story. I don’t live anywhere near Manchester so have no idea how or even if they maximise this -

Just to correct you - British speedway HAS used professional marketeers in the past but they’ve always gone for the cheapest then, when they inevitably fail say “see, we told you marketing was valueless” On the 2 versus 1 GP stars, my expectation is that large amounts of their costs are covered by sponsors, sponsors who probably wouldn’t contribute as much overall to the team (in addition to their “help” with wage costs) if there was only one -

Some of the individuals involved are certainly solvent. I have no information on how well funded the operation will be. -

That’s my understanding.
